N.Awesome walk over the hills starting at Wharariki Beach, over the hills to Cape Farewell and on to Pillar Point lighthouse. Although a track as such is not always defined there are markers along the way to keep you heading in the right spot.
After we got to the lighthouse, rather than continuing to Puponga, we just retraced our steps and went back down to Cape Farewell where we could then walk the gravel road back to our campsite at Wharariki Beach.
Fantastic views all along the way. Can see Farewell Spit when you reach the lighthouse.
w.A really lovely place too travel too if your up in the top of the south island there is so much to see and do !
C.Was alot of money to spend on a tour but well worth it! 6 and a half hours and no stress of driving, you can't walk it or drive it yourself so it's the only way. Driver full of info as well.

T.An awesome walk with great views of the Tasman Sea and Golden Bay. 8km long.3-5hrs. The route is marked by poles on the hilltop but you can avoid lots of ups and downs by skirting the tops and going around the sides.
D.We walked the farm from the carpark to Fossil Point which took 30 mins. Well marked and formed trail across farmland and to the ocean beach.
R.Magic spot, my favourite beaches and scenery in NZ. But an adventure, not a sunbathing opportunity! Allow plenty of time though, more than you think!
C.My partner and I did the hilltop walk and what a fantastic walk it was. Views were absolutely beautiful everywhere you looked. Highly recommend

A.The walk up to Pillar point (the parking lot right before Cape Farewell) is one of the most gorgeous walks I have ever been on. You go up the hill then continue ~15 min past the structure on the top and come to a lookout from which you can see all of Golden Bay and Farewell Split. Absolutely amazing.

A.This is a significant walk of you do the loop, and you need to take in the factors of weather, shoes etc. The wind was whipping sand off the dunes at us at one point.
