Definitely a must for whanau day out. As you drive in, on the right there is plenty parking and leveled areas like an arena looking onto the lake. BBQ available in this area and toilet facilities.. Just pitch up your gazebo on whatever level u want. If you go past that right turn, head towards the boat ramp, on your left u come into the area thats lined with shaded trees and closest to the lake that's where we were. Beautiful. Safest place I've been to for the toddlers 4yrs and down. Mi son in law had his boat and kayak so the older ones including adults were enjoying the lake on the bisket thingy and kayaking. There are toilet facilities n BBQ in this area too. There are designated areas for swimming, kayaking and of course boating. We travelled from Mt Maunganui to The Blue Lake didnt take us long to get there we left early and left late. Forgot, the lake is not sandy. So if your not use to walking on pebbles advise to get those beach scuff,boots like diving shoes. It didn't deter some of mi mokopuna (grandchildren) tho.😄😇🤗❤

What a blissful walk AROUND the lake Tikitapu. (I STRESS 'AROUND' AS THE TRACK BECOMES ANTICLOCKWISE HALF WAY AROUND AT THE FORK) However don't be fooled by the entrance to the right of the car park saying its a clockwise track (with an exit behind you). Threw me a little, but a jogger put us straight. Beautiful walk in May/June.

The Lake offers a great view of the Lake & the mountains surrounding it. The park by the lake front is a great place for a stopover. It has a mobile cafe or hotdog stand. A kayak hire shop can be found there too. Moving forward there’s a round-the-Lake hiking track. It starts from the car park n through a bush. I love the place.

Great lake for boating, dog friendly, swimming areas for open water swimming (around 1600m across the lake) , nice private beaches the other side, or the main beach has a playground and toilets available to use, there's mountain biking tracks starting from the main carpark as will as a 5.5km loop to walk or run around. Also got a great cafe 200m from the main carpark

Absolutely amazing!! As always the enchanted forest delivers the best afternoon and even night walks with our kids and everyone of course with their own little torches 😊 As for me I can't complain of the good quality trout I take home for the family almost on our every outing there!

Stunning views of blue lake and the sublime nz bush. Cleanliness; the toilet facilities are clean. Did notice the tourists left rubbish in parking lot however Value for money; Free, therefore unbeatable value. Parking; loads of parking. Loved it peace and harmony. This is a marvellous lake with a decent lake front. It is surrounded with dense forest on a hilly terrain which makes the views and surroundings very beautiful. The name is aptly kept due to the reflected colour from the bottom on the lake. Though, the blue colour can only be seen if viewed from the top, which is not easily possible. The toilets and the parking area are well maintained. There is a park nearby where one can easily spend some time with Children. Water ski enthusiasts are also seen in the lake sometimes. A must visit place. Highly recommended.

Such a delightful forest walk round the lake. The water was crystal clear covering the lake bed like glass. It was quite like a horror movie as the mist crept slowly across the lake whilst the rain dripped on us through the tree canopy.

Absolutely amazing place! Great place to hang out for picnic, for families with kids, go and have a quick swim. The walk around the lake is pretty good too. The view of the lake, especially in Summer is breathtaking, blue in color.. Would highlh recommend this place. There is a Top Ten Holiday Park camping ground, recommend visiting in Spring/Summer. Keep sandfly/insect repellent handy.

Beautiful spot. I was here once again for the Rotorua Half Ironman & the stand alone half marathon. We went and checked out part of the run course which went around the Blue Lake as well as out to the Green Lake.

Spent a lovely time at this small lake kayaking around the whole lake at a leisurely pace which took us under an hour. A popular spot for waterskiing, wakeboarding and has a designated swimming lane which allows you to swim the length of the lake safely. By paddling around the edge we had lovely still water with the occasional smooth wake wave and we keep out of the way of other users while enjoying the beautiful bush along the way. Highly recommend.

Attended Float. What a great setting for a concert. Being able to sit back and chill listening to live bands, mosh pit or float listening. Pure bliss. Then the bonus of having the manu tower at our disposal with unlimited bombing or jumping. Just primo. We love you Stan!

Very beautiful experience. Feel so calm whenever I see this lake. Good to come anytime in day but highly recommend go there when sunset or at night, you can see lots of stars reflecting the lake.

Love this place and enjoyed a quiet run around the lake. Shame cyclists were on the no cycling areas making it challenging for people with small children and not able to pull over in the narrow areas making it dangerous. The signs need to be clearer.

Visited Feb, the water was warm. There were 3 bbqs there you can use and there are 2 public toilet blocks, the one near the water ski club is fairly new. You can get ice creams from the camping ground.

Beautiful lake, playground, plenty of parking, campground across the road, you can walk or bike right around Blue Lake in 1hour, there's a gorgeous lookout where you are standing in between both green and blue lakes and the views are just devine.

Was looking for somewhere to get the kids away from the busy traffic for lunch. Found one of the lakes. Unfortunately it was a such a windy day they didn't get to play on the playground much as it was too cold. But we found a Top 10 holiday park, a lovely little lake surrounded by beautiful forest and looked like a very family friendly area. Will be noting it down as a future holiday destination for when our boys are all water safe.

Excellent walk just a few minutes from town in Rotorua. I expected it to be busy but on my hour and a bit circuit I only saw 4 other people and a dog. Nice easy walk, mostly through the bush but never far from the lake edge. Several locations where the track takes you along nice sandy beaches. Very enjoyable, peaceful walk.

Blue Lake can be a stunning place to spend the day most days. The water can be pretty cold, but it is totally worth a visit. Miss the weekends if you want to avoid the crowds.

Wonderful walk nice easy track. Thanks to the council for allowing dogs. Our schnauzer enjoyed himself and yes of course we picked up after him and nice to see others doing the same.
