You go through the gate then be careful as road is very narrow, there are multiple car parks to park at some only being 3 cars that can fit but the main car park is at the base of Mt Taranaki. The track is down lots of steps from the start of the walkway steep in some places. There are two viewpoints one at the base and one at a higher point

Worth the trip up the south face. It was overcast so we did not see the mount or the views. But the Dawaon Falls was awesome to see.

Just a little ealk from the visitor center, also you can park just outside of the entrance but there isn't much room. On the way to the falls you can see the old electric power generator which is quite cool, the falls itself are very impressive and you are in for a very cold shower if you are brave enough!

Beautiful falls to walk out to and not a difficult hike from the parking area. There was great water flow when we were there and the pools at the bottom looked inviting, but it was a little too cold to jump in! Add it to your list of places to see when you are in the Taranaki area! It should not be missed!

Nice quick walk, there's a longer option too for those willing, steps aren't super maintained so make sure to wear appropriate attire! You can get right up to the waterfall though so it's epic

Stunning falls. Kids really enjoyed their time in the falls. It took us around one hour to reach there from New Plymouth. There are nice walking tracks on the site as well. One of the walking trail goes to the Mount Taranaki as well with almost one hour of walk. Very beautiful scenes around. I strongly recommend this place to others.

I've seen better water falls in New Zealand, but this one is in a beautiful setting and the forest that you walk through to get there is just amazing. Wonderful gnarly trees. The area is super clean, which is great.

A tall waterfall with abundant water pouring down the lush green bush. There’s a very small car park outside the entrance. If no space you can park at the visitor centre that’s only 5-min walk away. There’s a tiny hydro power station.

Very Beautiful and pleasant water falls. It is just a 10 mins walk from nearest parking space. Best to visit on a bright sunny day to get awesome pictures. It is not advisable to go there with infants(you can go till the viewing platform, but to reach down to the falls is not recommended while carrying kids). Few steps to reach the bottom of water fall are not that user friendly, old people and young kids may find them difficult as 2 to 3 steps are very steep and narrow(see attached pics and then decide depending on your comfort level).

Well worth the twisty drive up the volcano! An 18m waterfall with several nice trails in the area. Toilets are available at the top along with an information center. The power station was really neat as well. They reckon it may be one of the longest running in the world.

Nice walk. Not too hard. Lots of stairs down. 25 minute walk one way. The road up is wyndy, narrow, lined with trees and fun to drive if no traffic. I can see it being a slow drive when the road is busy. Big carpark, toilets and cafe at the top.

Scenic waterfall ! I really like it. It is very easy to walk there from visitor center so that every visiting this national park should visit this fall as well. There is not so parking space so it is better to park your cart to parking of the visitor center.

Beautiful roaring waterfall on the side of Mt taranaki. A short walk through the rugged alpine forest to the viewpoint. Then a steep descent down to the pool. There are steps but can be very slippery with puddles and roots sticking out.

Lovely spot. But no dogs otherwise you are fined $50000! Be warned. Need to tread carefully down to falls not for the unfit. Can be wet and slippery. Walking down and up uneven steps . Nice phiyo opportunites.

It's a very short walk from the "corner" of the road to the falls (where you may be able to park your car if it isn't too busy), or a slightly longer walk down from the visitor centre. In either case, it's worth the visit if you're already in the national park.

A beautiful place for a visit. Very well kept walking tracks and signage to help you navigate the park. Some areas are muddy around the wetlands. Well worth taking some lunch and enjoying the area. A nice cafe at the car park for coffee and icecream after if you need a boost. Take a towel and your togs hang brave the icey mountain water but only if your brave enough

Enchanted Forest for the young at heart to explore and cherish this magical place. Highly recommended if you are in Stratford or New Plymouth.

If you're in New plymouth or surrounding area this is a must. Although it was a bit overcast the day we walked the track it still offered beautiful views. Different variety of lengths of walks to suit different people. The waterfall is only a 5 minute walk if you don't fancy don't the longer walks.

A must for everyone visiting Taranaki it's only a 5-10 minute walk from car park and it is stunning. Even more amazing at night with a powerful torch a great adventure. I used the Ledlenser MT18 3000 lumen torch.

A very pleasant, shaded trail with ferns and mosses everywhere. We thought this was a better piece of goblin forest than the Kamahi Loop Track around Stratford Mountain House. Easy enough for a capable 4yr old, but would need supervision on the stairs down to the falls themselves. Those are steep, slippery and flanked by a sheer drop off. Falls themselves are nice, definitely a good photo op.

This is a beautiful waterfall, especially if you get to the bottom of the falls to see it up close. The access to the falls is thru narrow stairs, some are steep steps and can be slippery after rain. It might be difficult if there is many people. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves, it is definitely worth the 10 minutes walk from the nearest roadside parking, which is about 1-2 minutes before reaching Dawson Falls Visitor Centre.

We took the walk for 1 km. The walk is quite easy, the path is shady and pleasant to walk. (Original) 21/01/2020. ממש מעניין, כל מי ששאלנו אותו היכן נמצא המפל הפנה אותנו לכיוון אחר. לבסוף, ירדנו בשביל צר ומוצל בהתאם לשילוט. לקחנו את שביל ההליכה למרחק 1 ק"מ. ההליכה קלה למדי, השביל מוצל ונעים ללכת בו. כ- 100 מ'מטר לפני העליה לכביש הראשי הייתה ירידה עמוקה במדרגות לאורך 80 מטרים לתצפית טובה על המפל. בגלל חוסר הבנה מצידי לא ירדתי למטה, אבל צילמתי את המפל מלמעלה. כבר ראיתי מפלים הרבה יותר מרשימים בניו זילנד עצמה. לסיכום, אם אתם כבר בקרבת המקום, תלכו לראות את המפל. לבוא מרחוק רק כדי לראות את המפל לא כדאי. אם אתם אוהבי טראקים, המקום מצויין להליכה בנוף יפה. הר הטאראנאקי מרחוק כשהוא לא מעונן הוא יפהפה.

Vom Besucherparkplatz aus gibt einen sehr schönen Rundgang durch den Wald bei dem man auch an den Wasserfällen vorbeikommt. Der Rundgang dauert ca. 45 - 60 Minuten und lohnt sich sehr. Die Stufen runter zum Wasserfall sind teilweise glatt und ziemlich hoch, deswegen sollte man nicht unbedingt Flip-Flops tragen.
