Lovely views of the mountains and lake, the wide open park for all types of summer fun at the beach. Has toilets and a water fountain and a walking/biking track all the way into town one way and all the way to Waitahanuo the other way. There is also a public gas BBQ and a great kids playground.🤠

What a breath take away place. This easy for walking but the facts you still get idea of Indiana Jones. I mean you must try of the teack a bit to see the hiding treasure. It is super fun for kids and super romance for dating couple (who love walking okey 😂😁) 10/10 amazing.

I was here to see the new years fireworks and its a great place to watch them. you can see a lot of Taupo and its beautiful scenery. you can see the lake, the city and mountains from the lookout. There are car parks and an area to sit and look out over the city.

What a wonderful spot. This is the first time we have visited since 2010. This town has grown to such a size. Shops everywhere. The public toilets in Taupo are the BEST in the North Island and well worth 50 cents entry.

It is basically a car park with a viewing platform and what a view.

The Taupo lookout always offers a grand sweeping view of the Taupo township and surrounding area. Unfortunately, many days offer a very cloudy or rainy outlook, so one needs to pick the right day to get some great photos. The autumn colours always accentuate photos taken during that season of the year. It's often quite windy at the lookout which makes selfies a bit challenging with hair blowing in one's face. There are no toilets available at the lookout, but there are two recycling bins and one rubbish bin. There are at least two bench picnic seats with tables as well as a large number of bench seats at the actual lookout itself. There are no trees for shade on the lookout, so during summer one has no shade from the sun. I nearly always stop at the lookout whenever I'm in at Taupo just to spend a few minutes to relax and look at the view. There is a pair of fixed binoculars available at the viewing platform, which cost $2 for a limited period of time. The cost of using the binoculars goes as a donation to the Lions Club in Taupo. The lookout is very popular with tourists so the parking area can often be very congested. The road next to the lookout is very busy so caution and care is advised when exiting the lookout to head ever north or south.

A supreme vantage point to take in the view of Taupo looking south across the Lake and central plateau; ensure you take 5 minutes to "stop smell the roses" here. Magnificent!
