Reviews of Wairakei Terraces
K.
Absolutely amazing. The young Maori girl on reception was absolutely beautiful and so very helpful. I would recommend this place to everyone. Can't wait to go back and go into the beautiful looking pools and have a stone massage. Loved it...
K.
Amazing place! A must do in Taupo. All the pools are different temperatures which is really great. Large pools so you never feel crowded. Highly recommend.
M.
We stayed around the corner and went to Wairakei Terraces twice. First day we enjoyed the pool then the second day we decided to do the hīkoi. The hīkoi is beautiful. You can take as song as you want. We took longer than we had planned.
A.
Awesome place to relax. Beautiful hot pools. Super hot actually. Adults only is a must. No shower available in level 2, but they recommend take a shower after 4 hours later (I didn’t know that). Ho and enjoy this place!
T.
Lovely place, nice & scenic. Great way to soak tired muscles, relax and enjoy your beautiful surrounding's. Super friendly staff.
Z.
Nice pools, 3 of them, at different temperatures. Set in nice scenary.
T.
Absolutely stunning place. Can not wait to return. As a person who is an avid hot tub goer. This was everything I would want and need in a hot pool. Such a pretty place and so comfortable. Enough room for everyone and multiple different pools. I have recommended it to so many people and have heard nothing but positive feedback in return.
J.
Adults only. Very relaxing soak in geothermal mineral waters of varying temperatures. You need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Very enjoyable. I reccomend you finish off with a fresh fruit icecream in the cafe afterwards!
L.
Awesome place to relax. Beautiful hot pools with real thermal mineral hot water flowing aside and making waterfalls. It would be nicer if there are showers in the change rooms, more shelter over the pools against the sun in summer, thermometers showing the temperature of the pools.
L.
Big thank you to the staff at Wairakei Terraces for helping my now fiancee with our special moment 💖 can't recommend enough beautiful place and will be a very special place for us forever.
D.
Did a couples relaxing massage. Great staff, nice, clear, and respectful instructions, good handling of covid protocols. So relax there was definitely some snoring happening 😂 the setting for the couples massage was awesome, outside in a separate little hut...super peaceful!
s.
Both me and my partner went. I am 35weeks pregnant an was happy when Izzy was able to provide me with a relaxing massage. Was just what I needed she knew what she was doing wish I could have stayed there all day! Highly recommend if you are pregnant and need a good relaxing massage it’s well worth it! The lady is lovely an very informative.
My husband had the sport deep tissue massage given by Marie he loved his experience an was well relaxed afterwards two very happy 😊 customers Thank you
K.
Wonderful way to spend an hour or two after an active week!
U.
We went at 12pm to kill time before check in and stayed for 2 hours. Beautiful water and very relaxing. Staff are super super friendly. I used the GrabOne offer and paid $15.00 p/p (2x adults) as opposed to $25.00. Good changing rooms. They have towels and swimwear for hire and water bottles for sale. Different temps in the different pools but it was all so lovely.
v.
Never a disappointment here!
Recommend buying the grab one for $15 to save $10!!
L.
Lovely quiet place to unwind. Good temperatures and loads of space to sit and soak. Staff were very welcoming. The changing rooms could do with an area to rinse togs
N.
Such a relaxing enjoyable day, will be back again when next in the area. Can't recommend enough. Staff are so incredible and food in the cafe is simply amazing and fresh and lovely coffees .
J.
We did the walk around the terraces and grounds. Enjoyable and interesting, really liked the story attached to the key points of the walk.
M.
What a magical experience, did the little walk before our spa and was so amazing to see the terraces, hot pools were amazing, clean and beautiful, friendly staff also
O.
Amazing place. Very happy we have purchased not just pools but a walk around also. It's a very beautiful place and we have a very pleasant walk. Remember to take a bottle of water for swim in a pools (there are 3 of them) so you would be able to spend more time and don't get dehydrated, it worth it!
D.
Absolutely stunning experience not to be missed. Get there early
R.
Lovely relaxing place to visit. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Good reminder to not place you head under the water. Well done.
N.
We got the grabone promo for the thermal pool entry. Entry is on sale for 15 dollars via grabone but regular entry fee for the pool is 25. The pool is for adult only but there is a walk around the hot pools that kids can do with adults. You will have to pay another fee for the walk entrance. They have 4 pools with different temperature. There is a cafe in the entrance of the place if you want to grab a quick snack. Bring your own towels and water.
T.
Had a fantastic relax massage then a swim in the natural hot pools. Lovely people and beautiful surroundings. Already planning a return visit
A.
A bit out of the way but definitely worth the drive.
The staff are lovely and very helpful.
The walk offers reasonably priced glimpse into Māori history and look at the geothermal chaos going on in the area.
The pools are awesome as well.
Some hot, some hotter and some just right.
M.
Loved it so relaxing. Went early like 9ish in the morning. Literally had a pool to ourselves. Really relaxing. Would definitely come again!
C.
Such a awesome place, especially with few other tourists at the moment.
The water feels great.
S.
Friendly service, affordable prices, cultural experiences and amazing thermal hot pools; what else could one possibly wish for? Wairakei Terraces is a must-visit relaxation spot in Taupo. Everything from the walk to the spa to even little conversations shared with staff and other customers are memorable and therapeutic.
E.
It's a short easy walk, the terraces are still growing using the leaf litter as a base substrate to cling to. Very impressive geyser but hidden within the steam. Polarizing glasses definitely help to see it
N.
The spa side is really fantastic. Side note, watch your hair if it's long, it'll get damaged if soaked and you'll spend days reconditioning. The Maori village was a let down, expected a lot more but there are only a few displays.. itd be really cool if they added more stuff and made it feel like you're walking through an old village. The grounds are extremely tidy and whoever takes care of the trees and shurbs needs an award! The staff were all in good spirits and accommodating. The terraces were quite impressive to see, overall its well worth the money and a nice experience. I'd definitely go back.
Q.
It’s great different experience for everyone in the family!
It’s clean, quite, and claim bathing environment for adults that is over 14 years old. The adults definitely could find some peaceful and relaxing here! For the kids, they could explore the trail and Maori village nearby. The whole trail is very easy for all age groups. The Maori village is very quiet and plenty to see and explore. My kids loved it and took three rounds before they got tired!
The only cons is that the water is different from the Polynesian Spa. Based on the feedback from my group, they didn’t got the feeling of smooth touching on their skin after bathing, the water is a bit more like regular house bath water. However We could see the water is directly from the geyser, maybe just different minerals.
L.
Not as intimate as expected but still a very lovely space to relax and chill, pools at different temperatures with some areas hotter than others. Seating in the pools is decent but uncomfortable if you try to rest your head. Overall highly recommend, the place is clean, tidy and is one of the better thermal pools I have been too.
A.
Just amazing natural treasure, you can soak in the beautiful hit pools or go for an educative track around and see the terraces.
K.
It's really peaceful, found a cool spot for a cuddle in the pool. Don't shower afterwards. Skin felt amazing for days
A.
Beautiful place how ever was over crowded and I paid for the $25 adult pool and stayed for 5 mins. The wahine at the cafe were amazing
a.
Amazing!! It was so peaceful and such a beautiful view. The staff are hands down amazing. So friendly, helpful and such a laugh. I would absolutely recommend these beautiful pools. My aches and pains are all gone and for once in a very long time, I can bend without pain. Love it and best part is no kids so its nice a quiet.
S.
Lovely peaceful soak in the hot pools in the late afternoon on a cold autumn day with bush surrounding. Three different pools with different temperatures to move between. Nice blue coloured water. Unfortunately can't see too much of the terraces from the pools themselves, but they flow into the top pool. One pool had a nice waterfall cascading into it, and a bridge you can swim under. Some simple changing rooms on-site, and nice covered stands around the place to hang or put belongings..
L.
Staff greeted us as we walked to reception. changing room Facility's were clean & tidy. Had multiple area to hang up towels and leave belonging where you could see them while you are in the pools. The pools themselves were exactly how I imagined they were and we're exactly as pictured on the website. The pools were all clean and very warm but just the right temperature where you could just sit down and relax.
Will definitely be going to these pools again and 100% recommend them 🙂
A.
Fabulous place, relaxing soak in the pools
Staff very helpful
P.
Very good. Just take fresh water with you . No drinking fountain .
C.
Karma at Reception welcomed us with a lovely smile and gave us very good information about the pools. Her professionalism shone through giving 100% customer service. Pools very clean and so enjoyable. We'll definitely be back.
T.
Lovely place. Best to come here in the morning when no ones around yet. Gets busy later. 3 different pools with different temperatures, even a little waterfall. There are changing rooms and showers. Is not a big place but is not meant to be for swimming or water sports, just to relax. There are little grass areas, so you can take a sunbath or cool down. Enjoyed my time here.
P.
It was amazing, the pools were spectacular and so relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful, definitely worth a visit and is the perfect way to end the day.
C.
The actual pools were lovely. Plus the fact that it was adults only was an added bonus. However, there was absolutely no shade in the pools. No shade cloths, no special areas to sit under to hide yourself from the sun. There were a few trees growing on the side of the pools, some which had small branches that grew over the pools. But these were not sufficient shade. I have been to many pools before that have whole pools that are in the shade. Given that the minerals in these pools washed off my factor 50 sunblock in 30 mins, I was sunburnt very badly by the end of my 2 hour stint in the pools.
It such a shame that they haven't considered shade, as this would vastly improve enjoyment of the pools for many people.
G.
Spotlessly clean, beautiful surroundings, pools were quiet and idyllic and the cafe really good value. Highly recommend.
C.
Gorgeous hot pools just outside Taupo. All pools are lovely and deep, with good seating around the edges. Very relaxing atmosphere and well maintained surroundings.
J.
Awesome natural, thermal hot pools, in such a beautiful setting. Really nice that it's an adults only place too.
C.
Amazing place to go and relax especially after a long set of holidays with 11plus children at home.
I think its a great idea that its for 14years plus to swim.
Perfect price for what you get even better price when i used grab one.
This is my new "mums time out" and will do the travel from Napier as often as possible.
Staff are friendly and helpful alway havjng a smile on there face.
Beautifully kept grounds with a beautiful walk to enjoy before or after your relaxed swim.
If i could give more than 5 stars i would
C.
Stunning place for a relaxing soak. Great facilities, clean and well maintained. It's lovely to move around the 4 different pools, all with different temperatures.
A.
Beautiful! Listening to the birds in the trees. Unwinding in the therapeutic water. Lovely and relaxing for adults. You have to be 14+ to enter. The hot pools are different temperatures so you can go from the coolest to the hottest or vice versa. Or pick your temperature and stay there. The changing rooms are clean and there are lockers and benches with hooks to put your stuff. There is a small cafe too with plenty of outdoor seating. The staff are all pleasant and helpful. Will come back again!
C.
Great activity to experience. Nice setting, large pools. A unique experience, well worth doing. Was expecting pools to be more secluded and spread out, but they are nice large pools with different temperatures and levels. Entrance toilets need a refurb and changing room toilet and shower needs a review to complete the experience to an international level. (A 'Lost Spa'-type Pool-side bar would be awesome too)
A.
Wow the water is fantastic from warm to hot as you go around the different pools and there's a beautiful waterfall with lovely hot water following from it . So relaxing I'll be going back there for sure. There is also a walk you can do which you pay for as a extra but I didn't do it this time but am looking at going back to do the walk and of course go back into the pools, I can't wait.
M.
Great place to relax, got voucher of bookme so it was half price. Staff are not friendly, confusion re booking service on arrival. Cafe closed, no instructions on facilities or not to put your head under the water from staff member at desk or how to use lockers. Recommended to take water in with you, pools are really hot. No food allowed at pools. Loved the pools no kids
P.
Wow, what an experience. Lived in New Zealand all my life, been to Taupo on many occasions, never been to Wairakei Terraces. I missed out! What an awesome place.
Did the walk, while a little on the pricey side $15) did not really mind as I enjoyed the 20 minute walk so much. They have done a great job with this.
After the walk did the hot pools. Wow!! So nice, did the bottom pool first (2nd hottest) and then tried the top pool (hottest at 40° plus). Only stayed in 15 minutes but was so good. Then went to the middle pool (coolest) for a wind down before ending back at the bottom pool for a soak under the waterfall. Such a lovely experience, place was fairly full.
Definitely be back, my skin and body loved it so much.
P.
Great value. Beautiful area that looks to be expanding. Pools are wonderful. Staff very friendly
F.
Gorgeous place for a soak. Great pool temperatures too. It was pouring with rain when we went today but still had a great time. Pools seemed very clean other than a few leaves and foliage from the wind and rain. Would love to come back another day.
T.
One of my favourite hot springs to visit. We grabbed a coupon for $15 each, stays open until 9pm with 4 different pools in its natural beauty. Favorite is sitting under the waterfall getting a massage by the water with hot steaming mineral waters. Skin feels nourished.
B.
Beautiful mineral springs with complete facilities. New and clean, relax for holiday. You can find cheaper price with discount 50% on bookme
website, around 12.5$ for public pools. The staff is so nice with good service. Coffee and simple food are at the door. Be quiet and relax to kill time on work day. The local Maori madam I met in the pool told me it is same as Miranda around Auckland. Sorry I missed it as I have to catch time to Wellington. It's a pity the fresh ice cream was sold out. It' worth to come back next time. Thanks.
P.
Someone decided to recreate the lost silica terraces of Rotaroua using the exit water from a geothermal power station. Well worth the visit. The hot pools are also lovely without the usual sulphur smell and without the crowds. The gift shop also has a good selection of sensibly priced greenstone carvings and jewelry. Maori owned and operated so support it.
이.
Beautiful place.
It's the best time during holiday in Taupo.
We love this place and would visit again.
A.
Beautiful and relaxing. I love that this is an adult only facility. We will be back
M.
Made a detour at the end of a road trip to come here specifically and it was worth the extra driving time. The landscaping and atmosphere are super relaxing. The three different pools give a good variety of options for temperatures. Personally I couldn't handle the warmest one for more than a couple of minutes, but the middle temperature was perfect.
M.
Amazing hot pools, Adults only. 4 pools at different temps set in a nice garden environment. Recommend scuffs as you have to walk some way to the pools.
L.
I used the thermal pools with my ailing mother. A short walk down to the pools. The ramps were great, no stairs that I remember apart from the ones getting into the water but they had good hand rails. A few different temp pools to choose from.
I would suggest you take a packed lunch and make a day of it as entry cost wasn't as cheap as I expected
E.
It doesn't matter whether the weather is good or bad - it's a good place to go to. Come and experience Wairakei Terraces and Thermal Health Spa with one of New Zealand's premier geothermal locations.
Wairakei is on the Thermal Explorer Highway, just 5 mins drive north of Lake Taupo and 50 mins drive from Rotorua and easy to find out because you can see the steam clouds from the road.
The Wairakei Terraces and Thermal Health Spa have recreated a series of hot thermal pools, which have been strategically positioned below silica terraces to take full advantage of the mineral enriched water that has been drawn to the earth’s surface from 1.5 kilometres underground – thereby providing a ‘back in time’ sensation, and an ideal setting for anyone wanting to indulge in something unique, and uniquely relaxing. These must-see Wairakei silica terraces are the crowning jewel of this mystical place and continue to form naturally every day.
The staff is friendly and the complex is very clean. The walk around the terraces is really beautiful and interesting. Don’t miss a chance to take some great photos. Children under 5 are not allowed.
Summer: October – March, 8.30am – 9.00pm
Winter: April – September, 8.30am – 8.30pm
Pool closed every Thursday at 7.00pm
Exclusive bookings are available between 8.30 and 10.30 pm
B.
Very enjoyable. There are 4 pools. 3 are fairly warm and pleasant. The 4th is quite hot but bearable.
Pools wernt busy and reasonably clean compared to others.
N.
First time here and it was amazing! The grounds and pools are really nice and it wasn't overcrowded so we could find a quiet corner and just relax
P.
Perfect place to relax. Such friendly and welcoming staff. Keep up the good work. One of the few place in Taupo where you are made to feel welcome. Will recommend so so much. 10 stars
E.
Love this spot! So relaxing and amazing for your skin. The staff are always friendly and kind. My favourite place to go in Taupo. Make sure to take a drink bottle, though water is sold on the premises if you forget.
J.
Loved the pools, hated the long hard cold pathway. The walk was rather ho-hum too, not worth paying for unless you want to see a few carvings and Māori food storage areas.
M.
Another fantastic trip. We come here every time we come to Taupo because the pools are so relaxing and I love the natural setting
D.
Whatever temp u like this amazingly beautiful natural spot has a pool for you. kind of an intimate feel with interconnecting pools and little waterfall. Hottest pool is up top. Was 43° when we hopped in. Nice friendly warden checks water temps and on everyone regularly. I will be going back!!
R.
Using the BookMe discount, this terrace is a calming place to spend a couple of hours and soak up the minerals. Great facilities
D.
Very very beautiful place to visit so relaxing and staff were so friendly
C.
This is a beautiful place the pools are set in the most spectacular setting, the staff are fabulous, really knowledgeable and friendly.
P.
Stunning, stunning location and would HIGHLY recommend this as a must visit place if you are in Taupo
B.
It's OK I guess, but for the same price (40$) you can find better and much longer trail walks in the neighbourhood. The terraces look cool though.
K.
Such a wonderful experience. Beautiful pools and quiet setting. Cafe serves great mega shakes.
V.
I love this place! Return again and again. Blue selica water has different temperature in different basins. The pool is good for swimming. There are not many people which makes the atmosphete cozy and relaxed. Walk around the park before entering the pools and you'll see the powerfull geyser and natural terraces.
D.
Beautiful place to relax and unwind, nice that its for adults only aswell
B.
A great setting and a lovely place to visit for an hour or two. Not a big place but pretty unique and well appointed.
Y.
You don't want to miss visiting Wairakei Terraces when you are travelling to Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand. It is cheap and you can get good deals on grabone. There are different pools with natural hot water and changing rooms and lockets. Cat park is also provided for free. They are located about 10 minutes on state highway 1 from Taupo Town centre. You will never regret it so make sure to visit! #follow #letsguide #taupo #nz #wairakeiterraces
H.
Very nice and clean thermal pools with reasonable price! Bluish mineral flowing water fills into all 3 pools divided by different temperatures.
Highly recommented.
D.
Beautiful surroundings. Quiet with just soft voices as people converse with each other without having to talk above the noise of children. An ideal place to retreat for an hour or two from the demands of children as children are not allowed. One can just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of this special place while the body soaks up the warmth of these pools.
T.
The best geothermal hot pools around - relaxing setting, good variety of pools, well maintained. Don't let the sterile reception and bathrooms put you off these great pools.
M.
Really beautiful baths. The only shame is that you don't get the walk on the same ticket. Would pay slightly more to do both but individually this is overpriced.
I.
The hot pools are lovely, the hottest one can get up to 42 degrees by the wall where the water enters, so it was great and relaxing 😌 bring your own towel. Lockers are $10, but plenty of benches around the pool area to leave your bags and towels .
H.
Had an amazing time here. Thanks team for such a beautiful relaxing environment
S.
Love the no children atmosphere! Such a nice little spot away from the hustle and bustle, super relaxing and not many people!
M.
I've had a great time! The water temperature was just perfect for me. I'll definitely visit again. I just wish they have showers in the men's changing room - there is none now (July 2021).
C.
Such a gorgeous spot! The water looks amazing and will definitely opt in for a spa there next time around.
E.
Really nice setting and hot pools! Nice variety of temperature with a few separate tiers. $25 is a fair price but at the same time me and my partner went twice in one weekend which equals $100 for a couple of warm soaks.. You can actually get cheaper entry via grab one or booking.com etc.. But we weren't onto it until we had already paid full price. Definitely a nice setting to unwind and unlike chemically treated pools, your skin feels nice/clean/normal when you put your clothes back on without having to rinse off under the shower at the end of your session. Recommend the experience.
A.
We made a day of it and had a great experience. A big shout out to Hoani who hosted us with exceptional and genuine service. We booked a massage and also did the walk along with the pools. The walk and history of this site is interesting and tells a bit of our history. The water is therapeutic and we both noticed positive effects on our skin. It’s great having the different pool temperatures. We highly recommend
G.
Beautiful setting and great range of temperatures. The water seems to be mineral from a natural thermal field. Feels great on the skin.
Note that you’re paying tourist prices here … $25 per adult. Also, if you’re not swimming you aren’t allowed down by the pools. No spectators.
L.
Was such an amazing experience..you have to do it...so refreshing,so rejuvinating and calming
If your needing peace and renewal this is the place to go
J.
Amazing place to be. Friendly staff and well maintained facilities. Many pools with different temperatures and super relaxing atmosphere. Could soak in there full day. Will definitely come back.

Love this place
Apart from bathroom's could do with few more toilets and better changing rooms 🛀
H.
Amazing place. It's the best hot pools for adults only. I can't recommend this place enough, just make sure to take water to stay hydrated while you're there. There are different heat levels to suit different tolerances. A++++ place.

Another great attraction, awesome place to wonder around and let your mind wander
C.
I always feel like a million bucks after bathing here. It's not too pricey, you can usually get a deal on Grabone. Go during the day if you don't want to go when it's crowded. The weekends are packed. The changing rooms are probably my only gripe. They're very small for the number if people they let in at a time. There has been a line at times of people waiting to change while dripping wet. Regardless, I'll always make a point of going there when I'm in the area.
S.
Absolutely love love love, I have now come 3 times in one week. The colder the day is the better the pools. There is a guy who works here who has amor of knowledge of the place. He's wonderful to listen too
D.
The under water stair is not properly designed which has the health and safety issue. Three of our team had bruise hit by the stair.

My fave spa! Pro tip: Grabone iykyk. The spa at Wairakei terraces is out of this world. Consisting of three seperate pools of different temperatures, there’s something for everyone. I have eczema but the minerals at Wairakei heal my eczema every time! The walk is also a must for anyone visiting during daylight hours. It features a geyser and a great rendition of the 8th wonder of the world.
m.
I went with a small group over Easter weekend. We decided to go at night and I'm so glad we did. What a beautiful place. Pools were AMAZING! Staff were super friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone in Taupo. I know we will be back next time.
C.
It was very relaxing and overall a great experience will go back again
P.
The best place for hot pools. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
T.
Nice short walk, cost $15 for walk and $25 for thermal pools (check bookme, there are up to 50% discount). Walk has mainly one man-made terraces, but looks beautifully on clear sky, when steam is coming from gazer. Thermal pools is great value for price, 4 different pools with different temperature, lot of space, not too crowdy. Only downside, no tap water, but you can buy water at the front. On August, no showers, only cold outside (says “because covid level2”).
K.
Always the best thermal pools we have gone to. NZ wide.
Take hotel slippers to avoid cold paths between changing rooms and pools.
L.
Wow, congratulations to this place. Soooo keeping them on my to go to place. Loved it.
I.
Wow, I wish we discovered this place earlier. Pools are amazing, different temperatures and well designed.
The only thing we didn't like was the changing room. It was cramped and doesn't match with spacious outside facilities at all. We've been here during long weekend so I can tell people were barely fitting in the ladies changing room. Also, the entry pass is very cheap, maybe they can't afford to renovate it. We were not offered the lockers at the reception, not sure why. Overall, we'll be back for the pools. Try to avoid public holidays!
J.
Very relaxing as it's usually quiet and the ideal temperature to unwind. This is the perfect rainy day activity in Taupo, also fantastic in winter. Bring plenty of drinking water and time.
J.
Likely best man made natural thermal hot pools in the north island. Great outdoor ambiance and enough space even when busy at this very affordable popular spot. Ergonomic well designed comfy seating
K.
Absolutely worth the price! The water is just divine. The walk from and to the change rooms is long (when it's cold) and over rough stones and non slip mats. Take jandals (thongs? Flip-flops?) And some sort of robe to keep warm as you walk down if you go in winter. The change rooms themselves are cramped, open plan things. If you don't like getting changed in front of others then change before you go.
J.
Fantastic thermal pools to sooth your aches and pains. Great location without all the kids apparatus. Primarily adult only location. Nice and relaxing!!
G.
Beautiful and relaxing pools.
We went here while visiting Taupo after it was recommended by our friend! It was worth it!!!
Great facilities, very clean and tidy!
There are 3 pools and each one is a different temperature!
Really nice not having kids there and it was a peaceful experience
O.
Bloody amazing nice little hideaway with some beauty pools, very friendly staff and a great time had! will be back soon! :)
C.
An absolutely excellent experience! Our favourite geo-thermal experience in Taupo (and we did a few).
This is children-free which makes it an excellent place for couples and friends. There are various deposits and prices required for towel hire and a locker - our visit cost $75 in total, after - $25 deposit refund for two towels and 1 locker hire.
The pools are excellent. They range from 38-degrees to about 40/41 which was total bliss and something for both my partner (who prefers the cooler temperature) and myself.
You can opt to hire a locker in the changing rooms, and/or hang towels and belongings on the hooks down by the pools. The several pools are close together so even if your friends have different preferences with water temp, you’re never too far away and it’s really easy to hop in/hop out of pools. It was a stunning environment and we had such a relaxing and ‘zen’ time.
There’s also an on-site cafe which offers a large range of drinks as well as soup, toasties, croissants etc.
The staff member on the front desk was absolutely brilliant and extremely informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommend - this was our favourite part of our trip in Taupo.
A.
Perfect ralaxting hotpools. Make sure to grab your vouchers on Grabone 😂👌💯
E.
Super lovely, beautiful place to just relax and have a rest day
L.
Beautiful pools, clean and well kept. The wall however is overpriced for what it is.
E.
This is must visit place. I'm angry that we have not visited it earlier. Great facilities, hot springs pools are just wow! And they managed to keep it so wild and natural, you will be stocked!
P.
Lovely place with friendly staff. A relaxing and fun experience
J.
Amazing place. Beautiful surroundings and the pools are fabulous. Very relaxing.
D.
Super nice hot pools, really relaxing
M.
Really nice hot pools with a lovely silky feel to the water. I'm going to get a season pass I think. A cool dunk pool would be a great addition. Not too happy there are no water fountains in the pool area as I thought this would be a safety requirement. There are no official places to fill a bottle even. But you can fill up from the hand basin in the changing room(yuk) or the shower.
J.
It looks amazing, and the hot water relaxes all your muscles. It is a must do in Taupo!
T.
A nice depiction of what the pink and white terraces would of looked like. A short walk with hot pools for adults attached.
T.
Absolutely amazing pools of different temps. Very relaxing with no children here. Highly recommended, so will be encouraging my friends to go.
J.
Excellent. No kids allowed, so a bit of peace and quiet, good price for a massage if you want that (worth it), and the pools are lovely. Just don't dip your heat under the water - that's bad!
B.
Super hot pools ! Very relaxing ! Not too crowded, not too much noise, great for relaxing ! Each pool has his own temperature, between 35 and more than 40 i think.
M.
Great place to go! My tip, check on grabone if they have a deal available!
D.
Lovely place, only draw back is the walk from changing rooms to pools down outside pathway especially in a cold winters day... But really that's only a mild inconvenience
K.
Awesome want to live here for the hot pools
E.
A stunning hideaway ...soaking in the peaceful hot pools is a beautiful experience clean bathrooms and dressing rooms even hairdryers and lockers . This has been my 3rd visit here
G.
Spectacular walk around hot water features. The pools are so relaxing and will worth visiting when in the area.
C.
Soooooooo good. As a mum of 5 having a place that's adults only is Bliss 😊
J.
Awesome pools
Very clean and friendly staff
F.
The view and the combination of the pools are awesome
T.
Don't want to go home.
J.
Very relaxing few hours getting all the benefits of the minerals and healing waters
K.
This is a hidden gem in Taupo. I thoroughly recommend coming here to have a soak or a massage, or just to tour the beautiful Terraces. In winter and spring, this place would be particularly magical and active, I imagine. I look forward to finding out on my return visits!!
S.
Very pleasant. Staff always welcoming.
Very clean premises.
Definitely go there for a soak.
D.
Love this place
Apart from bathroom's could do with few more toilets and better changing rooms 🛀
R.
Really nice place to chill in the warm waters. There are good changing rooms and at extra cost towels and lockers.
A.
Expensive but no shower.
Nice pools ok for a go.
S.
Great relaxing place. We got 2 entries on book.me for $15 each and it was money well spent. It's not a big place but pools are well divided with different water temperatures. It's quite beautiful around. Recommended!
F.
Really lovely place. Sitting back in lovely warm natural pools surrounded by bush. Really friendly staff.
K.
Always beautiful. Recommend the walk around the pools also.
d.
Absolutely our new favorite place to visit.
B.
A well- presented walk through the geothermal area. Would have liked to swim in the inviting-looking outdoor hot pools but $25 per person wouldn't fit the budget.
R.
Amazing staff and such a wonderful experience. Great pools... made my skin really nice. We visited on a rainy day but the management made sure there are safety protocols in place to avoid falls.
E.
Spent a lovely day relaxing in the pools!
J.
Brilliant pools and the best part no kids.
R.
The first point of contact wasn't pleasant. Highly impersonal. Told us to get out of the pool half an hour before closing, felt like she was just dying to finish her shift and go home. Not customer oriented. The place itself is very nice though, great pools. However,tThere are not safety signs on the pools indicating depth and temperatures and other safety issues.
C.
Loved these hot mineral spa pools today. Staff were friendly and the pools weren't crowded so it was a very relaxing experience.
You can hire towels so that makes popping in really easy too.
We got a deal on BookMe so paid $15 each which in comparison to some pools in Rotorua was very cheap.
Would recommend you stop here if you are travelling between Taupo and Rotorua.
S.
Great spot to relax and unwind. Awesome atmosphere and facilities. Only comment would be is changing rooms are a decent distance from the pools over stony ground. Suggest bringing sandals along for the walk. Will happily go back!
S.
Wonderful tranquil hot pools. Was impressed with the gardner that stopped to chat and then open the front door back on its catch so an elderly lady could walk through with her rotator frame. Excellent customer relations 😊
R.
Outstanding! Not at all suitable for children but other thermal baths in Taupo are..so think of this as a glorious, peaceful, treat for adults wanting a quiet soak in beautiful surroundings. Very friendly staff and everything spotlessly clean. We visited 3 times during a weeks visit to Taupo. Thank you Wairakei Terraces for a marvellous experience. Best thermal pool experience in NZ in my opinion.
P.
Great place to try natural hot pool spa!
K.
Absolutely fantastic experience every time I go. Love to soak in the pools. One of my favourite spots.
J.
Always a lovely setting, especially in winter with the mist hanging over the water. Good range of temperature between pools and areas.
A.
Lovely and relaxing. Good prices as well. great walk to.
T.
Excellent pools and waterfall amid bush, imaginative design, clean water and facilities. As first time visitors, the friendly staff added to a very nice experience.
T.
Great public hot pools, fabulous facilities very clean. The pools are adults only. Beautiful bush surrounding the pools makes it the perfect outdoors feel. hot pools of varying temperatures and the place was not crowded but we did go during the week. Highly recommend this place
C.
Nice walk around albeit a bit short/fast. Interesting info in hand out. Would love to see more info/signs around to read about different geological happenings and also Maori cultural explanations for those who would not know what the different buildings are etc. Very pleasant and enjoyable visit.
L.
Friendly staff. Adults only. Nice scenery with 3 hot pools with different temperatures
Enjoyable, even a midst the rain. Changing facilities with locker rooms are average but do the job. Plenty of parking space (50 at least.)
F.
Take your towel, water bottle, and SHOES with you from the changing rooms. The path to the pools is very painful on most feet.
S.
This is a top spot well worth it a must visit
B.
So relaxing. Great place to escape kids!!
T.
Beautiful place. So relaxing soak. Arohanui
P.
Stopped in here needing a cuppa on the way back to Rotorua. The staff were awesome, so welcoming and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our tea and muffins and would definitely recommend as a place to break your journey
J.
Interesting place. Only did the walk around the complex.
F.
Lovely place. Worth a look
E.
No kids allowed which is great because the water is clean and fresh and it's very peaceful. The pools are all different temperatures and the price is reasonable too. Not too crowded either. But watch your step on the stairs in the pools I saw 5 people trip over on them. It would be good to see these highlighted better for people it seems to be becoming a bit of a hazard.
G.
Amazing place. It seems expensive but is well worth it. 4 pools to choose from 33 to 40 degrees, even a hot water waterfall. Highly recommended.
R.
Good price and the pools are really nice. Staff were really friendly too.
Z.
Absolutely phenomenal experience. If you’re going for the pools, the walk is a MUST do. Definitely worth booking through BookMe for the discount. Highly recommend!
p.
Great spa with different temperature pools.
It is good to bring towel, slipperry, and lotions for after spa.
A.
Awesome place for an adult soak, incredible Silica pools in help the bodies aches & pains.
S.
The healing properties of these pools have been helping my dad out big time. Him and my mum visited wairakei terraces 6 times during winter for days on end. Both of them look better and feel better than ever. Definitely the place to rejuvenate your soul.
G.
Excellent thermal pools, nature all around. Silica terraces directing thermal hot water into the sculptured pools. Beautiful highly recommend
T.
Lovely spot to relax on a summers evening.
S.
Nice way to get away and relax. We went at night and loved watching the lights glistening in the steam. So peaceful and no kids
A.
Geothermal pools were delightful. Choosing a weekday morning where we were mostly by ourselves was serene and delightful. It wasn't quite as pleasant when we returned on a busy Saturday afternoon.
The pools are naturally heated by the geothermal activity, with the water in the upper pools being much hotter than the lower pool.
At the time we were there, the lower pool was an extremely pleasant 38 degrees Celsius.
The relaxation massage that we purchased after our dip in the pool was one of the best I've had, and I felt it was money well spent.
J.
There's nothing better than a hot soak on a rainy cold night. Don't go expecting resort style amenities, but for the price and experience, it's an easy 5 stars.
D.
Nice place if you are looking to relax. There are 4 pools with different temperatures
R.
Always a great relaxing time when I go there
J.
Our second visit. A wonderful place to unwind after a busy day sightseeing. Various temperatures from very hot to cool/warm water.
K.
Nice place to visit. Only visited the thermal pool. Good but the pool was a bit dirty. I'm not talking about leaves.
M.
Really nice hot pools with the added bonus of kids not being allowed in. I think you need to be 14 to enter.
There are 3 pools with a range of temperatures. The hottest when we visited was 38 degrees. You can rent a towel for $15 and when you return it you get $10 back.
We used a grabone deal which meant we only paid $15 entry fee instead of $25.
There is also a small cafe on site
J.
First time going to the thermal pools and i was really impressed! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Great place to wind down and chill. Would definitely go again.
S.
Wow....a rare and beautiful side of New Zealand! Refreshed and felt fantastic
P.
Best hot pools in taupo. Minimalist. Relaxing vibe. Great scenery. No kids was a delight
A.
This is the hot pools of choice if you are anywhere in the north island of NZ. They are adults only though, so for those of you with kids, find a babysitter, don't settle for less. The atmosphere of the pools is great and being adults only means it is very relaxed and even when busy it is not overwhelming. I would recommend these hot pools to any local or person travelling through Taupo.
T.
Totally amazing adults only place!!! Honestly... treat yourselves!!!!
C.
Smashing place. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The place was spotlessly clean and the pool were set in charming landscapes. Very reasonably priced as well.
We went around 5pm ish when the heat had gone out of the day a little, as there isn't much shade over the pools during peak sunshine hours of the day. From 5pm ish onwards there was sufficient shade for those not so used to the suns heat.
Would highly recommend.
J.
Less people than expected. Only for adult to ensure quiet and relax environment.
K.
Loved this place! The fact that there was no children allowed made for a calm and tranquil soaking experience. The pools are surrounded by greenery and a staff member comes to verify the temperature regularly and asks you how you’re enjoying it. They will also tell you everything you want to know about the mineral content (lithium included- good for relaxation).
S.
Loverly and so relaxing, a warm shower in changing room would have been nice but not end of the world
J.
The geothermal pools are a fantastic experience. We went at night in winter, with mist filtering through the air, and the cold oitdoor air a great counterpoint to the warm pools.
Great combination of cooler and hotter pools, including several waterfall type inlets and interconnected pools.
Plenty of places to relax in or partially out of the water, in all we stayed several hours. It wasn’t crowded or too noisy, as the pools are reasonably deep in parts, no under 14s are permitted.
Plenty of variety of lighting too - darker corners for more intimate relaxation and better lit areas for conversation or group interaction
A.
Beautiful spot. Love that the location is out of the main township so it's amazingly quiet. Staff are super friendly and the facilities are wonderful and clean.
Most of all, we love the fact that it is adults only. As much as we love our kids, it's the best thing ever to be able to have some adult time.
G.
Absolutely fantastic beautifully relaxing😍 Go here everytime we are in Taupo. Highly recommended.
N.
Amazing place.... always wanted to go here and finally got our chance and werent dissapointed. Soak the worries away in the beautiful pools with stunning scenery. Wouldn't mind trying the spa next time.... highly recommended!
G.
Loved the soak. Very few people 1st thing in the morning which was kinda nice. Pool, coffee, and massage 🥰
B.
Really lovely pools and their staff are super friendly. Shout out to Joe who is amazing and so caring to the people at the pool
A.
great spot, but no convenient place for your clothes. For the price you should really get a locker or at least a place to put it outside so the few benches aren't covered in plastic bags of people's belongings
T.
Great deals on grabone. Beautiful place to swim. Relaxing. Few pools from hot to cool. Been a couple times recently with my partner and will go again for sure! Love it!
L.
Magnificent pools, clean and tidy, good phone service but front desk, I didn't find so confident.
A.
Very clean, nice flood lit garden setting. Gradual step entrance to pool with hand rails
A.
Beautiful, calm and relaxing.
L.
Had a great experience here. Staff are very friendly to make us feel so welcomed. The atmosphere and surroundings of the hot pool are so relaxing and calming. Highly recommended.
C.
Naturally heated thermal pools in natural outdoor surroundings. The pools are therapeutic and there are 4 pools with varying temperatures, the hottest being 40 degrees. The pools are not overcrowded and I have yet to see children here and I always stop here. This is a relaxing stop over if you are travelling through the north island, I stop here for hour to break journey.changing rooms are basic with shower and water is for sale. At an extra cost you can walk around the thermal area.
K.
Very nice quiet atmosphere in the mornings... good natural mineral hot pools around the area with different temperature settings
k.
Great place, one of the best hot pools in New Zealand. Silica pool smoothen your skin after soak and it felt great! One highlight, a friend left a jacket over night and i left my wallet a few years back, everything were safely returned, they even post my wallet back to Auckland for me a few years back. Highly recommended.
J.
Great 14+ old hot pools, can't believe I've never been till now!
Relaxing range of 4 pools photos already upload do it justice.
Highly recommended for stopping by for a soak when you're passing through or staying at Taupo.
A.
Visited as a last minute stop off on our way past, received over and above service from the 3 staff we dealt with and really enjoyed both the pools and the massages. Would highly recommend
E.
Fantastic, warm and clean facilities. The staff was very friendly and well informed about how the hot pools operated. We had a lovely time bathing and two hours flew by before we noticed!
L.
The pools are so beautiful, the grounds, cafe and rest rooms very clean. The staff are very professional and friendly. I had the best massage in years from Kerry. I would recommend the hour massage and look forward to my next trip to Taupo so I can visit again .
J.
Was Bliss from the get go. I try visit every time I go by. Highly recommend
T.
Loved it. So relaxing and beautiful environment
R.
Excellent place to relax. Three thermal mineral pools with temperatures between 36 and 40 degrees.
M.
A fantastic hot pool complex with many different temperature options. With no kids allowed here it makes for a great relaxing experience. If you're a Taupo local, take proof of address and receive a discount.
A.
Excellent retreat day for adults to enjoy. Loved the different temperatures of the pools & moving between areas. Wish there were less gawking tourists looking in on the pools though. Didn't do the walk. Went on the height of summer. Sun block, water bottle & hat needed. Can't wait for a winter retreat. Highly recommended. Looking forward to going soon
A.
Had a beautiful soak and relax in these very nicely presented geothermal pools. Left feeling, great, a perfect end to a short holiday in Taupo.
L.
Hands down the best hot pools in Taupo
M.
Very relaxing. Pretty spot. Warm pools in surroundings that feel reasonably natural. Sadly the cafe was closed so we didn't stay as long as planned.
C.
Great place and even better no under 14yrs. Front desk lady was friendly welcoming and full of knowledge.
Looking forward to visiting again
J.
My 85yr old mother absolutely loved coming here and being able to get into a lovely hot pool to do exercises again since lockdown closed her regular pool. We were on holiday in Taupo visiting her sister.
T.
Beautiful thermal pools with various temperatures. The walk from the changing room to the pools was so cold, yet it added to another level of relaxation once you got into the pool. Extremely lovely!!
K.
An amazing place to be and no children! Peaceful and serene, and the setting is gorgeous. To soak in mineral water at night under a full moon or in the rain is one of my all time favourite things to do. An amazing experience, I never tire of this tranquil place. Thoroughly recommend!
C.
Lovely. A bit pricey but is nice and we enjoyed it. Has 4 different pools all at different temperatures
R.
Delightful mineral pools .peaceful and quiet.
J.
Easy to navigate and book tickets. Looks like a place worth a visit to relax. Adults only which is nice.
N.
Friendly people and very good swimming facilitys. Cafe had a good range of food and drinks, the prices were a pleasant surprise
M.
Pools and service were great and the walk well worth. Unfortunately cafe closed for refurbishment. Maybe they could look at a slight discount in price if you do both the walk and the pools. Definitely recommend.
M.
Absolute bliss! We booked through Grab-one. A total must-do experience in Taupo! X
J.
Adults only pool means it's got a great atmosphere for relaxing and unwinding, amazing creamy blue waters, worth the premium.
J.
Lovely hot pools in a beautiful setting. No children allowed so very peaceful. Changing rooms very basic and could do with an upgrade
M.
Such a beautiful setting with warm relaxing pools. Natural water with healing properties is a bonus
v.
Really enjoyed our time in the hot pools here. We felt that this place has the right relaxing ambience which people look for in the thermal spa. Came as a recommendation from our hosts and can see why. We went to Polynesian Spa a couple of days after visiting this one and were so disappointed with the huge crowds.
I.
Piece of paradise, healing waters, gorgeous pools, awesome staff.
The pools are large, some are warmer than others, they are surrounded by nature, and were made very natural looking. A geyser is shooting up from the ground at the top of the terraces and the hot water is flowing into the terraces and pools. The water really has healing power and it charges you with pure good energy. We were pumped the whole day after this experience. I have a bad ankle that gotten worse after the Tongariro hike and it got completely healed in these waters. The pools are gorgeous, the staff is great. Well worth its price. Wonderful experience.
J.
The pools are absolutely stunning and very relaxing. Very professional staff and spotlessly clean. A must do when in Taupo.
s.
Awesome pools for a soak
D.
Great little walk around the geothermal terraces with a useful information sheet telling you the history.
D.
Quite busy, on a public holiday, but has Bush like surrounds, and 4 pools of different temperatures. Good value for money.
C.
Loved it bit pricey but worth it. Amazing wonder.
H.
This is my favourite thermal pool in Taupo. Very relaxing and peaceful.
A.
Awesome pools for adults to relax
C.
Gorgeous by night, a must visit if you’re in the Taupō area.
E.
I stopped off with the kids for a quick visit on our way into Taupo. As they are young we just did the walk. They were absolutely amazed! They just wanted to get to the resort after a long drive but walked out stokes they had the opportunity to see the Geyser and build up of Silica.
J.
A great little thermal spa with four pools each at different temperatures set in very pleasant gardens. A lovely relaxing spot to spend a couple of hours. Highly recommended.
D.
Amazing as always. Will definitely be going back.
J.
A great place to just unwind and relax. They have several pools of different temperatures that you can soak in to your pleasure. The bush and nature surrounding the hot springs are well kept and are a delight to be surrounded by. Will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.
k.
Visit regularly to soak in the pools and I also get a great massage from Marie when my back is sore. I get a great discount for pool entry on GrabOne.
M.
So love these pools. So relaxing and love the silica in the water. Beautifully landscaped and great for the soul.
G.
We stopped to view the hot springs and very much enjoyed our self guided tour. We had coffee and a snack, both of which were first rate. We didn't use the spa facilities but definitely will on our next visit!
P.
Relaxing. Staff helpful, pleasant and sweet
M.
An interesting walk but sadly the place is fake. Terraces are man-made and steam is piped in from wells next door. It looks like it is still under development but ran short on cash. The pools look like a nice place to soak.
L.
Wonderful place, beautiful & relaxing
n.
Woo. Tourist attraction for sure but definitely worth it
J.
Wonderful hot silica soaking pools at various temperature's, for 14yrs age and older, currently 25NZD per adult. Stunning surrounding and thermal walking also available bif you wish to stretch your legs. Absolutely blissful, and will definitely be back.
T.
Beautiful and relaxing in mineral pools.
R.
I love the terraces. Wonderful hosts. It is peaceful lots to see. Pools are amazing. Cafe is fantastic with great service
M.
So loved Wairakei Terraces Thermal spa's. So relaxing and such a delightful experience. The atmosphere is so wonderful so are the locals who work there. My skin feels so supple after spending hours in these natural thermal spa's :))
L.
Lovely soothing water, nice clean changing rooms, towels &lockers available
N.
Nice thermal park. The terraces and the spa can be visited separatly. At the end of the terrace walk there is a maori village which you can visit. The terrace walk takes 30min and is pretty impressive. Also the spa is well worth a visit. It is well maintained and clean. It offers towels to rent and has pools with different temperatures.
U.
Absolutely beautiful and healing 💜
M.
Lovely and clean pools were a great temperature for a cold winters day.
A.
This is one of my happy places. They normally have a voucher on grabone or book me that gets you a discount.
Its easy to find, just next to tge big bp when you leave taupo going north on state highway 1. Parking and access are easy.
Changing rooms are great but they are up the top of the complex. Its a good idea to wear shoes you can slip back on with your togs to walk down to pools.
Pools vary in temperature and ambiance. With no children allowed it is always very chilled out. The water is rich with silica rather than sulphur, so its better for your skin.
I have been in sunshine and hail. Both were awesome.
A.
My favourite place to go and relax. Everytime I visit my mum in rotorua my husband and I will gladly take the hour and a half drive out to soak in the pools. If you go in winter the entire vicinity is basically deserted as it is very very cold in the valley. Very romantic and opened till late
D.
We did both the thermal terraces and massage. The pools were really lovely and clean, great that there are no kids. good variety of temperatures and great for relaxing in. Massages were okay, possibly a little rough but still very nice. Call to book ahead for massages.
N.
Much needed rejuvenation session. Loved the experience minus the scrapes from the pool walls and structures.
F.
Take your towel, water bottle, and SHOES with you from the changing rooms. The path to the pools is very painful on most feet.
L.
Had a great experience here. Staff are very friendly to make us feel so welcomed. The atmosphere and surroundings of the hot pool are so relaxing and calming. Highly recommended.
e.
Nice place to relax. Not much options on the cafe.
H.
Nice place to relax in 1 or all 3 pools warm to warmer to hot 👌
A.
Visited as a last minute stop off on our way past, received over and above service from the 3 staff we dealt with and really enjoyed both the pools and the massages. Would highly recommend
S.
Wow what a beautiful atmosphere.
My skin has never felt so moisturised
We will definitely be coming here again
M.
Beautiful surroundings with trees and plantings.
V.
I always love the thermal pools, very therapeutic.
J.
Lovely hot pools in a beautiful setting. No children allowed so very peaceful. Changing rooms very basic and could do with an upgrade
S.
the Wairakei Terraces was unbelievably brilliant .
Highly recommend 👍
s.
Very nice place for the end of your day. Relaxing in the hot pool and there is different temperatures so you can choose which one is suit for you 😊. Definitely coming back if im coming taupo again
C.
Great activity for a slightly rainy winter morning! The water is so hot that a little bit of rain on your face is actually comfortable. They have 3 different levels with 3 different temperatures. You can lock up your valuables inside or just take your bag and towel to the benches and hooks outside.
Always worth looking for a deal on GrabOne though. And for the ladies & gentlemen with long hair: tie it up and keep it out of the water! My hair has never been so dried out. I wish someone had warned me!
S.
Awesome Hotpools and Terraces Walk
M.
Nice pools the changing areas are a little low rent.
C.
Very enjoyable outdoor thermal pools in lovely bush like setting alongwith some cascading waterfalls flowing over silica steps. There are 3 pools with differing temperatures to suit your liking. A walkway around the pool area can be added on as an after thermal pool soak. Also not to be missed is an onsite cafe with Berry smoothies and cabinet meals to satisfy your cravings.
J.
Great place to relax, not many kids , a little pricey at $25.00 per head but we look out for deals on Grab one
N.
I've lived in NZ for 10 years & visited several hot pools but this is my favourite by far. It's man made but seeks to capture the feeling of natural terraces. The end result is lovely and there's a great selection of pools of varying temperatures.
S.
Really lovely spot for a relax and soak. They just need some gentle background music to be added.
M.
Gorgeous spas. No kids. Went on a Wednesday at 7pm and there were no more than 6 people in the pool! Beautiful night. Would highly recommend
X.
Didn't swim in the spa due to having 2 young daughters but had a walk through the walk. Nice and scenic if you keep in mind the artificial nature of the place.
K.
Fantastic place visit. The staff are lovely and the hot pools are so relaxing. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. Well worth a visit any time of the year.
m.
Really nice Spa. Perfect for a rainy day.
N.
Great couple of hours relaxing in the thermal pools. Would highly recommend it
S.
top place for a relaxing dip
M.
Loved this place. Had not been before and just relaxed and soaked for ages. Needed to have taken jandals or something as the path to get there was cold on the feet as was winter. Great experience
B.
Great place to relax and unwind, lovely on these cooler day/evenings.
w.
Awesome place one of the best hot mineral pools I have ever been to ,no sulphur smell if that deters you.Hit one was hot but ease yourself into it ,it is great
M.
Terrific spa with multiple pools of varied water temps. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Prices are pretty good, though it would be great if the nature walk was included in the pool entry price.
C.
Good place to relax and spend an evening, make sure you bring plenty of water.
R.
Gorgeous 😍 car park was pretty full but didn't feel overcrowded. Beautiful spot!
K.
Really nice pools, water quality was excellent. You wear bathing suits,. There are 3 pools of differing temperatures. Bring a towel to save the $5 it costs to rent one.
L.
We have been travelling thru Taupo for years and did not even know these pools existed. We absolutely loved them and actually enjoyed the 14 year are limit. The pools are clean and easily accessable with a variety of temperatures and seating options for everyone. We bought Grab One tickets both visits which meant as a family it was affordable. Our kids are all grown ups now. Awesome!!

Didn’t get a chance to check out the terraces, but the thermal pools are gorgeous! My skin feels so soft, it was a lovely relaxing morning. Highly recommend!
L.
So hot and so relaxing 😌
G.
Water looked very inviting, clean & blue. Great atmosphere with native surrounding the only thing is a bit of a walk from the changing rooms.
Z.
Great pools, we go here regular as our hot pools. Beautiful spot, lots of pools with different temperatures but all close so you can change at at anytime.
J.
Fascinating. Like a mini version of the great and famous Tarawera pink and white terraces that were one of the wonders of the world. This gives you an idea of how spectacular those would have been if you just imagine them many many times larger. Go and have a look.
S.
Wow what a beautiful atmosphere.
My skin has never felt so moisturised
We will definitely be coming here again
J.
Peaceful surroundings. Very clean changing rooms and welcoming friendly staff. No kids under 14 allowed.
M.
Had an amazing facial followed by a relaxing afternoon in the hot pools. Nice and peaceful with very friendly staff
D.
Beautifully set pools offering a variety of temperatures. Pools are large and don't seem crowded. Good value for money.
A.
During our 1 month roadtrip around NZ we kept coming back to the Terraces time and time again. Compared to Polynesian Spa there was no comparison. The Terraces are a place we could go to every single day for the rest of our lives. Beautiful, immaculately maintained, and the scenery is next-level. Thank you for everything Terraces!
M.
Amazing! My husband and I came to New Zealand to see how winter felt and cing here was awesome. Because of the time of year we came here there is almost no one here and everything is just great! Everyone here was so helpful :)
J.
Such a lovely environment. Pools are great. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Highly recommend you visit this place!
A.
The walk is not worth paying for especially for Kiwis. Looks like they are adding an artificial Maori village and no doubt the price of the short walk will increase further making it even less worthwhile for Kiwis. The hot pools are pretty good - beware they don't allow children - expensive of course but aimed at international and local tourists.
J.
The pool was full of athletes from the Triathlon, felt like a blob in front of these shreded machines lol, was awesome..
J.
Great place for thermal bathing. Limited spaces so never crowded. Special deals on Grab One
K.
Interesting place, young ones enjoyed it, pools look relaxing, plenty of parking for big campers
G.
Very good. Hot, very hot, warm, lots of variety. Even an icy cold shower on the side.
N.
Amazing. It is an adult only place as you are unable to put your head under the water, so if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing soak this is the place. Will definitely be coming back from Hamilton just for this
J.
Such a nice place to dip! been here twice already. must visit place if you are going near taupo or rotorua. We loved it so much
S.
Really nice place, we came for the walk, which is beautiful and interesting, but the hit pools looked amazing too!
H.
Nice place to relax in 1 or all 3 pools warm to warmer to hot 👌
R.
Started the day at 430 a.m. hadn't had enough sleep but damn I was excited. Get a message on the phone at 450. I'm here. Damn I think to myself in still naked from the shower. "I'm naked" i bounce back. That will be cold at the snow comes my mates cheeky reply. 5 minutes later I'm completely clothed and in the car heading to Whakapapa excited as hell about the day on the ski fields ahead of us. About 730 am a message pops up on my phone from a mate who was meeting us there. Ski field is closed. Dejected we needed a new plan. What can we do on the level of awesome of a day in the snow. Probably nothing so we decided to settle for 3 hours at the hot pools. Worth it. The weeks stress just melted away in what you could argue is a communal clothed bath. Best thing we could possibly have done kinda hope tomorrow the mountain is closed so I can go back.
C.
It was very lovely to have only adults there.
Clean and peaceful
T.
Pools are for adults only...
T.
Wairakei Terraces is a natural geothermal spa of sorts. Basically a geological hot tub! A little cascade of hot pools run parallel to the hot stream, which is converted into the top pool, making it pretty hot. The middle pool is cooler, and the bottom pool (which is much bigger) is hotter again, being fed from another waterfall inlet. Nice walk on the grounds too. Very calming and relaxing place to unwind after a busy day touring or sightseeing.
c.
Loved the clean and warm facilities but need larger changing rooms although other then that it was an amazing experience if any adults want a weekend away definitely go to the terraces there is an only adult pool (no kids are allowed in the adults pool ) and there is a cold pool there if you don't want to go in the hot pool
T.
Amazing massage here and the Turquoise water is beautiful and with no sulfur has no lingering smell.
N.
Lovely pools to relax in after a day of cycling. Looking forward to returning
C.
Wonderful staff, great manaakitanga! Beautiful place! Fabulous place for laye autumn, late afternoon soak!
M.
Quiet serene pools. No water bombs or crowds. Loved it
A.
Lovely thermal mineral pool with unusual hot water this time!
R.
Best thermal pools around and set in a relaxing outdoor environment. No kids under 14 makes it a great place to relax and soak up the minerals.
V.
Really beautiful. Very popular in the bad weather. Would have been a better experience if the changing rooms were closer to the pools or if the walk way was covered.
w.
Wairakel Terrace is not a big area where you can see the hot springs at a walking distance, but if you have time you can swim and relax at the lakeside with a good ambience and take a few photos at the beautiful lakeside.
N.
Adult spa pools were excellent with a range of temperatures and some lovely waterfalls. Go around sunset for a range of colours and to see the stars come out from a hot pool!
J.
This is an ok place. Nice layout near huka falls and location wise it is near the road. They have 1 big pool and two small ones. The temperature of the pools varies as well. The thing that i dont like is that they dont have shower coz they were saying it's best not to take shower so that the body will absorb the minerals. Water is a bit dirty too...
S.
It's a beautiful place to stop, rest, and relax. Take a swim in the pool and soak in the atmosphere.
G.
Love the different temperatures of the pools, and the setting
J.
The pools were bliss to bathe in especially in the morning if you get to hot in the pool there is another pool you can cool down in. The thermal water is so soothing for the mind and body. Thank you .
L.
Beautiful thermal pools with no smells, should visit when near Taupo, very relaxing and good for muscle too
M.
Great way to spend relaxing couple of hours, would recommend a visit.
R.
Very nice. A bit expensive... but with no kids under 14 there, it's peaceful.
Pounamu for sale is WAY over priced. Made by an amateur.. not properly finished.
We swim here when ever passing through
R.
Really relaxing and no kids running around because minimum age allowed is 14yrs. Only down side was an old Chinese Guy cutting his toenails in one of the hot pools and his family laying on the steps into the pools getting in the way of everyone getting in or out.
G.
Very enjoyable. Is a must do. Pools of varying temperatures clean and inviting. Staff very friendly.
K.
I am in awe with Wairakei Trraces, after three days of arthritus agony, we decided to try Taupo Terraces hot pools!
J.
Always stop here to refresh, replenish and rejuvenate ourselves! It's so good, we went and bought ourselves a spa just to have that heat at home, but it doesn't compare to the mineral hot springs!
M.
we are from Tauranga, but drive a few times to these fantastic pools
different temperatures, awesome water and 100% pure nature
our most favorite hot pools
vern nicely maintained, and now the cafe shop is open toooo
J.
Such a beautiful and relaxing place to have a swim. Highly recommend to all.
J.

C.
The water is so amazing, the staff are beautiful
J.
The vibe was perfect. The setting was beautiful. I loved the water. Highly recommend if you like a peaceful atmosphere
B.
Really nice hot pools. Water is soothing and feels nice on skin. Bit of a walk from changing rooms to pool.
B.
Fantastic place to relax. A cool pool with a warmer area. And a hot pool with a hotter area. Loved it and will go back next trip to NZ.
T.
Had the most beautiful massage followed by a nice relaxing soak. A perfect place to relax and unwind.
F.
Loved it here straight after a 5.30hr hike. It was nice to come and relax n unwind here.
B.
Absolutely amazing. We spent 3 hours here soaking in the different pools. Always take a water bottle as you will quickly become dehydrated
D.
Great place to relax! I can't recommend it enough. Sooooo much better than Polynesian Spa and all the Rotorua thermal pool options. This is the place to go for thermal pools! The place is clean, never too crowded, surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings and the man that works the front desk is so nice and helpful.
A.
Amazing hot springs in peaceful surroundings! Massage was absolute bliss.Highly recommend a visit if passing through Taupo. Cannot wait to return :)
N.
What a surprising wee spot. An evening visit gave great atmosphere with the lighting and steam and the water was perfect. Well worth a visit.
T.
Fantastic, relaxing, fabulous, good price. I booked a massage session too and I loved it. Thank you Geraldine, I hope I have spelled the name right:)
j.
VERY Therapeutic Hot Pools,Just can't put your head under water for Health & Safety Purposes.
J.
Beautiful setting. Pools were perfect temperatures. Not too busy. Some water fountains would be good? And maybe closer changing sheds?
s.
Loved the warm water pools. We went on a quiet day, so had very private time. Later met some nice people. Inexpensive and good.
V.
Lovely place. Paid $25 each to swim there and then got charged a further $12.50 each to wander about. Would have been prepared to pay just the $25 each. Expensive for what it was.
N.
Great relaxing place A+ !!! FYI take a water bottle and drink it in the pool. I forgot mine and almost fainted when i hoped out the pool.. silly me :P
G.
Absolutely glorious. Pools are amazing as us the service. Massages were totally awesome. Geraldine and Marie did a very professional job.

T.
Very nice pools so clean and great licensed cafe on premises
C.
Excellent place for a relax. Nature at it's true best. Extremely clean.
A.
Great place to come lovely pools - don't leave any valuables in the changing room, phone stolen whilst there today. Keep valuables in eyesight. True of whole area! Sad!
L.
Beautiful and relaxing. Is quite expensive though. Also important to note that you must be over 14 years to use the main pools
M.
What a great way to waste a couple of hours deciding how hot I wanted my giant bath to be! Lovely clean premises and friendly staff
C.
I absolutely love this place. Best place to destress and perfect for couples.
