M.Spent several days here. Fascinating history.
6kms of easy track/boardwalk/cycle trail around the lake perimeter. Clean toilets and it has small rubbish bins. Quite busy with fishermen during the daytime.
A.Loved the walk around the lake. Nice and easy boardwalk with lots of bird life to see and hear. Also a freedom camping area. The only big minus is the most stinky toilet in NZ that I've ever seen after few years of traveling. Don't know who is in charge of it, but the ventilating needs to have a look at as it obviously doesn't work properly.
L.Visited on a clear winters afternoon. Nice way to spend an hour or so. Cycled around the track. There have been a lot of improvements in the last few years. Easy grade, a mixture of boardwalk and gravel track. Wallers going clockwise, cyclist going anti clockwise, generous width to pass each other. A lot more views of the lake from the track. Easy access from Te Awamutu or Hamilton.
T.Great day to do some weaving, The place was buzzing with kid's in their yachts on the lake. Trekkers walking the loop and others picnicking. The view and atmosphere priceless

C.Finally found Nigel after all of these years. Managed to snap a quick photo with him and had a good bonding session. He didn't tell me why he ran away though...seems a bit fishy, don't you think?
P.This is a large example of the peat lakes that dot the Waikato in this area. There are public toilets and a walking track around rhe edge of the lake, a mix of boardwalks and gravel paths suitable for walking or cycling. The loop is 5.9km, passing through regenerating manuka, kahikatea and punga, raupo swamps and on the edge of farmland. Te Awamutu Rowing Club has their boatshed here, and the Ngaroto Yacht Club has a clubhouse and there is small boat sailing for youth regularly. There are two car parks and freedom camping is allowed for a limited period.

C.Beautiful place, we were in a campervan and parked overnight! Woke up to this beautiful view, well worth a visit for the view, or overnight!

S.Peaceful, plenty of bird life. Fishing from the lake. There is on swimming in the lake. It is not clean .

T.The lake is full of algae and what not's ... so no swimming allowed. Great for sailing as it's nice and big with 2 ramps. A duck hunters paradise during the season... not so lucky if you're a duck... nice grassy areas to sit back and chillax...
C.Beautiful lake and wetland. There is a walking track around the lake suitable for all abilities. There are public toilet facilities.
S.Nice Walk, lots of parking. 6km around the lake. Has about 2km of boardwalk the rest gravel. Mostly flat walk. 0.5km you have to walk beside the road. You can cycle around the lake.
M.Beautiful spot., tranquil and glistening lake in the sun. The only drawback is that there is only one seat for a picnic. A few more seats plus some more trees for shade would be a real advantage.

J.Plenty of car-parking (not sealed) peaceful and picturesque. Could probably picnic here in the summer, not sure if any tables and take your insect repellent!
H.Plenty of replanting. Good tracks for walking. Great parking. Boards with the history of the lake are informative.
