Reviews of Embassy Cinemas
Saw a movie here with my friends and were having a blast being the only ones in one of the small rooms. The man at the counter was funny, friendly and made us feel very welcome. Just got a bit scared when the lights didn't turn on at the end of the movie. Great price for students. Only problem was that it was quite dusty :( two of us are allergic to dust so sneezed a lot in the movie haha.
Good quality screen and the old style theater is quite cool. Although the chairs could use some updating and the prices are very high. Suggest bringing your own snacks
Good selection of movies and it is such a good feature our town. The actual presentation of the lobby is lacking in ambiance and the toilets could do with a refurbishment - but you come for the film, so not a big problem.
Great little cinema we attended this week to watch Lion, this place is obviously ran by Cinema lovers. Sour sweets were good too! A little bit of noise intruded from the film being shown in the adjoining screen but other than that great.
Wonderful theatre of a kind you don't see any more. Happy memories made with my Grand daughter. Little Civic...small town style. I'm making a nostalgic trip back with her as a surprise. I cant wait!
Today was nearly wrecked by a pair of grandparents with very young children. They explained what was going on on screen constantly, had an argument with each other, fed the kids noisy sweets, in general had a rotten time themselves. We forbore saying anything because it was obvious that they were in a bad place. Little kids and movies longer than 20 minutes don't mix! That aside we again liked being in our "local" theatre.
Went here to see cars 3 with my son, nephews and other adluts too. Is a lovely theatre and much cheaper tickets than in Auckland. Also good snacks that were reasonably priced☺
Quite a cute little cinima for a town of its size. I quite liked the atmosphere of the decorations in the cinina itself. Only downside, the drinks we buy at the cinima dont fit in the chair cupholders while your watching. The cinima seating is on a slight wooden floor slope and myself and a few others kicked their drinks over and they rolled several seat sections to the front 😂😂 bit of a laugh but over all id go back. 👍👍
Cute old cinema building. Disappointed that adjoining cafe not operating now. Also feel lighting on theatre stairs not adequate if you have not been there before. Overall enjoyed the movie and people running the theatre front desk and ticket taking very pleasant.
Awesome old school cinemas. Owner is a top bloke who loves movies, a true enthusiast. Have a chat and buy some food and enjoy a movie how it should be seen. Worth a drive. Wednesday is $11 movie night.
My wife and I saw 12 years a slave last friday night. What a unique experience Thames has to offer, The Embassy is a true jewel. Congratulations your Cinema provides a fantastic experience the building, ambience just great. Thank you again for a great night.
A big cinema from the old days with lots of space and atmosphere. Great to see it being supported. Great theatre to enjoy a dramatic movie. Would be great to see it spruced up a bit.
Friendly, welcoming staff, great range of movies. You can always get in to see your choice.
Saw Yesterday with 5 family members.Excellent to have our local cinema and support it. Regular new releases come through. 3 cinemas in the theatre.
Good selection of movies. Love having the cinema in town
A real theatre experience that will keep you coming back. The ambience of the Embassy is amazing. I had forgotten how enjoyable the movies could be. Grab a bag of popcorn and relax.
Saw a great movie. Seats are comfy. Can be cold some times but blankets are provided.
Old historic movie theatre. Great atmosphere with the big screens.
A 3 cinema historic building that looks like it needed to have the interior décor updated years ago, but friendly helpful staff and small crowds make it a pleasant outing.
Our little local cinema is beautifully restored now and screens the largest movies as well as festival films!
So much more to offer but sadly this old girl could do with updating and some sorely needed tlc with its gawgus historical points.
Very nostalgic looking theatre! First time there seeing premier of Avengers End Game....awesome!!! Packed with fans!!
Very layed back but very clean and shows all popular current movies

I enjoy Thames cinema. For a country town it's good. Comfortable seating too.
Great friendly theatre with up to the minute films showing.
Great regional cinema with the personal touch.Has the latest movies on three screens
Good to sit in a Theatre where the sound from other movies did not come through the walls.
The foyer could do with a tidy up. Lots of old junk lying about. Friendly staff though.
Great movie. Theatre is very retro.
An awesome cinema of the old Era. So lovingly preserved and original. Not overwhelmed with new mod-cons.
Great movies, reasonable snacks, old theatre style, discount day on movies
A character theatre with good service. Gradually being updated and has latest projection equipment installed
It's nice to watch a good movie I like it.
