S.Good location, easily accessible, enough parking space. Lots of tables, chairs, and sofas are available for waiting. The stall inside serves most of the hot and cold beverages. Obviously, popcorn is available! Screen size was okay, could be bigger. Seats are a bit uncomfy.
R.Great comfy seats and decent screen size/ sound quality. Slow service (only one staff member on for serving food/ drinks and selling tickets) and popcorn wasn't great -burnt flavour and lots of unpopped corn even at top of bucket - if it was it would be 5 star experience
R.Understaffed (this isn't the first time I've been here and had this issue so assume it's an ongoing thing). One person doing tickets and food. Cinemas still have rubbish from previous movie. No ice creams for sale 😭 Movie started late, someone had to go tell them it wasn't playing.
R.Honestly one of the best cinemas I've attended, the staff are lovely, the seats are roomy, the food/drink you order (that's brought to you in cinema) is great, and it's cleaner than most other cinemas, the only reason it's 4 not 5 stars is because the quality of the screens now are not as good as they used to be (curse of the 4k tv screens we all have access to these days)
C.Nice comfy seats and a clean cinema. 3 stars as we arrived to a huge queue to be told after 10mins that if we had tickets online we'd go straight to thr cinema. No checking of tickets or vaccine passes. I think they were just too busy..

J.This is my second time here and even if it is far away from home, it is worth is.. Staff are friendly and seats are comfortable and you can enjoy with a mate surely. Only concern is the cleanliness of the washrooms which has to be looked into. Apart from that all good...
J.Although the movie viewing itself was good, the foyer entry and counter isn’t managed too well, things look shabby, it lacked a movie screen timing display and it was stark without any movie posters

S.Great place to watch movies locally. We're out of stock of a lot of things in candy bar on Thursday night. Gentleman behind the bar was awesome, even though ran off his feet I would imagine due to lack of staff.

Only reason for 4 stars is the website; the website always seems to be saying, only one movie on today, but when you are there, there is like so many movie showing.

K.Good when the deals are running. Often have cheaper prices on grabone or use the entertainment book 👌 but the popcorn is crazy expensive and you can't see any new release movies with the deals 😭🍿

P.Wonderful cinema experience. Superior to what I experience in Australia at the standard service level. Being able to eat a meal while watching the movie was a time saver and the seats were generously wide enough. Very happy with my experience here. More expensive than back in Australia but still very good value for the money I paid.

B.Big seats, very comfy. Compact but wow I can't complain. Soft drink expensive so only bought one drink. I'm Scottish and you don't have just sweet popcorn, but the size of the bucket was big. Would definitely go again.

G.A nice Cinema with a good attached diner. Screens are probably a bit high up, so I'd recommend sitting half way back or further. Seats were comfy and clean and the movie started roughly on time. It can take a while to buy things in the queue.
H.The main cinema in Upper Hutt. Located in Queen St, it is easy to find and there is plenty of free parking. Multiple screens showing all the latest releases with plenty of showings. The food and candy bar are very expensive (typical of modrrn movie theatres) but the tickets themselves are more moderately priced. The staff are professional and pleasant. The facilities are tidy and clean. The cinema seats are spacious and comfortable (couch style). The sound and lighting are excellent. If it wasn't for the expensive food prices, I would give the venue five stars.

T.Google maps has this Cinema on Queens Street which is not quite accurate. Its actually inside the shopping mall carpark tucked in the back on the right. Great place as its probably the newest in the region and it shows. Theres ample parking spaces although we took a group for a morning session so I cant vouch for the afternoon or evening. The theatres are up stairs and although there is a downstairs entry, it was not in use during our visit. Upper hutt is going through a bit of a make over with new constructions sites about the place and this place is a welcome addition.
M.Great service, staff were very helpful. The facility is great. I really liked that the cinema is small yet very well fitted out. Sound and vision were spot on too. I'll be back for more.
B.Been here a few times. It's a nice little place and the cinema rooms are very small and the seats big. Legroom is exceptional so you can fully outstretch without annoying the people in front (or be annoyed by the people behind). It's also very handy if people need to get up and walk past without having to drag their butt across your face like at other cinemas.
C.Great Cinema complex. Has the vibe of a small town Cinema but close to the city. For me it always has the feeling of what it was like going to the movies as a teenager. Fun and full of anticipation. Nice food options too that add to the experience.

A.Good cinema although probably small compared to competitors. Staff helpful. Toilets clean. Often do deals on Groupon and treatment which are excellent. I drop my teen off here for a film while I go shopping...it makes for a pleasant afternoon for everyone!
J.Was pleasantly surprised by this movie theater. I don't normally like going to the movies as I prefer to watch from the comfort of my own couch, but I wanted to see a particular movie before it came out on DVD. This prompted my visit here. In the cinema I was in, I shared a couch with my partner and it reminded me of going to one of the light house cinemas.
S.We go quite often and don’t have much to moan about. It’s clean and it is not the cheapest place to have a drink. If it is hot don’t go there as the aircon can’t cope with a lot of heat or people. We went to watch „The last Jedi“ while the film was good, we would have enjoyed it more if the aircon would have worked. The heat was unbearable.
D.As always, a great experience at Monterey! So great to see a full car park too - obviously others are supporting our local cinema. A no brainer really - we get to see the latest movies without the hassle of finding a carpark in the city, and then paying a ridiculous amount for the privilege.
P.Love Monterey in Upper Hutt! The movie selections, cosy cinemas with great sound quality, and the Staff who are ALWAYS amazing - so welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive and who give first rate customer service EVERY TIME! The popcorn, eats and drinks selection is well above average too! Although it’s in my neighbourhood, I’d travel for it... The total experience is just THAT GOOD! Recommend highly. 10/10
R.A great cinema that offers both excellent facilities and variety. It competes with the other big movie multiplexes by balancing the pros of multiple showings of the latest blockbusters but with far less of the stifling personality of multiplex chains like Readings or Event. Big city facilities in the suburbs.
B.Very nice theatre loved the film. We are looking forward to going their again. The only thing I could comment on us we arrived at the entry from the car park which was not well lit and fairly dark. Otherwise a lovely place.
Q.Comfortable seats. Nice sized cinemas (not too many people). Just make sure you arrive early because the ques are often massive. It would be better if they had a fast lane for people who pre-ordered tickets as well.

F.handy to UH local & comfortable & special price is great during Monday to Wednesday. It also has it's own cafe inside of cinema which is very handy to people whom want like to have a light meal before movie
M.We watched a movie with my son and his partner on the holidays and we enjoyed the experience. It is spacious, clean toilets and has a candy bar. The same standard we come to expect of New Zealand cinemas.
C.These are great intimate cinemas. That thing that let it down was the fact they were well under staffed, causing our wait and orders to be very long and the orders being incorrect.
I.One of the great aspects about it is not having to look for a car park as well as being able to have a meal with a beer before or after the movie.
I.Comfy seats, the latest movies, can bring your draught beer or wine in with you. I'd like to see more independent or foreign movies here, but I suppose they have to pay the bills with blockbusters. Good experience, glad to have a decent sized cinema back in Upper Hutt.
t.Great prices on tickets, I saw Ghostbusters 2D for $10. Friendly staff, they were out of medium-sized popcorn boxes and were offering partly full large ones... it was overflowing. No wait time in line meant that even though I got there late I didn't miss any of the movie. The seats were comfy and there was good space between rows. The place was clean and tidy. Overall the décor and prices was inbetween what you'd expect from a boutique and chain cinema. Best of both.
S.I wanted to take my dad to see avengers endgame because it was the only time we could go and it was the last session in cinemas, we were behind schedule for the movie and had already missed almost an 50min of it, but - I just want to say thank you to A~ for letting us come in to see the movie still! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

a.Comfy seats, great cinema :) Only wish they could have a seperate line for bookings / reserved tickets as the queues can get very long, today we waited over 10 mins which mean we missed the first few minutes of our movie.
L.We came from Auckland to try out food prior to movie here. HEI HEI Burger was said to be Free range chicken...really?! Burger arrived without the Swiss cheese which was put on after we noticed it was missing, fries was worse than Maccas or KFC. Won't be back for food. However staff was friendly and helpful.

T.When booking my tickets for Deadpool 2, I thought I was booking for the Friday session. It wasn’t till I arrived at the cinema on Friday night to watch the movie, that I realised I had booked the tickets for the Wednesday gone - so missed the movie :(
The staff member who served me didn’t charge me for the new Friday night tickets I had to ‘purchase’.
I really appreciate it given it was entirely my oversight. Thank you so much! Will continue to come back to the cinema due to the awesome customer service!!

P.I took my grandson. The aircon was not working & there was meant to be goody bags. Only cake on the table. No children ate the cake just the mothers. We also was in with mothers & bubs which was alright but when the manager came in to ask questions I asked him to speak up which didn't really happen & my grandson answered the question & he ignored him & let the Mums answer. Leo did get a free ice cream. He only cost $7.50 instead of $9.
m.Hassle free. However seating was dirty. They didnt vacuum between movies.
b.I loved it! The prices were great, the service was exceptional and the movie cinemas were tidy and comfortable to sit in, the movie quality was very good and overall i think i would go there again!
