M.Great little theatre with two cinemas, decked out with double couches and perspex type dividers between them. Has an on license so you can have your favourite tipple while watching your movie.

Shoreline Cinema - a great example of a local business NOT supporting local patrons!
Let's start by saying the Shoreline is a lovely little movie theatre that my wife and I have been to a number of times.
However, our son's gran bought him a voucher for Shoreline Cinema for Xmas, which we haven't so far managed to use despite our best efforts. We have been looking out for something suitable for his age and interests during school holidays when he can take a buddy but nothing has come up so far. Today we called up to buy another voucher for his birthday - we like to support local businesses. But we also asked whether we could extend the existing voucher by a month or so in case nothing comes up in the meantime, the answer was NO. Asked why, they said that if they extend the voucher expiry date, even just by a month, then "they have to pay money back to the distributor". Asked to explain how that worked and did it include the money for food included in the voucher, they struggled. Perhaps, we suspect, because it is not true? Needless to say, we will be getting a gift card at Events Cinema instead. You were happy to receive the money, and by not being flexible have proved to be a great example of a local business NOT supporting local patrons - interesting business model!
J.Called in here for coffee and slice. I was impressed with the vaccine machine at the door. It scans your pass and gives a small print out of your details.

A.If you are familiar with lighthouse theatres you will love this little theatre.
You can buy drinks or food at the counter and are able to take it into the theatre which has couch style seating

A.If you want a movie theater experience that allows your to snuggle up on a comfy couch with gourmet food and drinks this place is a must!
The staff were warm and welcoming, the food was delicious (real food not just popcorn and unhealthy snacks, but tea sandwiches and gluten free muffins).
I loved being able to actually sit side by side my husband without a traditional arm rest wedged between us.
It was just like sitting on a comfy couch at home but with a true cinema atmosphere!
J.A good variety of food and drinks to start and cosy theatres that are great for Indie films or blockbusters. The only downside is the seating which sinks at the back a bit and makes it hard to get up.

The food idea isn't that practical though because by the time the ads are done you probably would have finished your little cake and the prices for the food is quite steep as well.

Chairs could do with an upgrade as they have seen many bums ... and don’t bother with the ice cream, overpriced frozen ice without cream. Tasteless and is gone after 1 bite . Do yourself a favour and pop in at the local supermarket for some TipTop afterwards.

S.A lovely cafe and movie theater with two intimate, small theaters which have large, comfortable seats with plenty of elbow room and space to set down your drinks and snacks on the arm rests. Definitely beats the commercial theaters for comfort and experience. I just wish they had popcorn!

They play multiple movies at different times a day and have 2 theatres. The staff making drinks are on top of it! And very friendly. Definitely try to make it to a movie here!

S.Great theatre, films and customer service, but out of 10 friends who use the theatre we all wish the management would re-upholster/replace the seats, now very uncomfortable, padding all squashed flat. It is not cheap to attend this theatre, the least we can expect is a comfortable seat.

j.I can say without fear of contradiction that this is the best cinema in Waikanae. Seating very comfortable, coffee great, food ok, toilets good. The no popcorn policy is much appreciated, some people go to movies to watch them and popped carboard is smelly distraction.
V.Great little cinema, but you should never use their online booking option. If busy, staff just ignore online booking requests and, if the movie you have requested the booking for is popular, it will be sold out before your request is dealt with.
G.The opposite of Reading Cinema:
1. The seating is comfortable (better even than "Gold Class")
2. The sound is enjoyable (you will not emerge with ringing ears and no idea what anyone said)
3. Good cafe attached, which also means:
4. The snack options are good (again, better than "Gold Class")
5. The price makes sense

The screen is small, but the room is small, so it fits fine. I dare say the viewing angle ends up more or less the same as sitting at the back of a "Titan XE" showing. Sound is fine.
My experience would have been better if the heat pump was configured to make the most noise possible, spoiling some of the quiet moments. Yes, yes, it was probably on auto mode and was just struggling. The problem is that silly mode where the veins sweep up and down. This does absolutely nothing for efficiency, and just adds an annoying tick-tick-tick noise.
Secondly, I made the error of visiting during the day on a weekend. Some elderly don't seem to understand rule one of cinema etiquette: don't natter all the way through. However, during the day on weekends you probably get children, which have the same problem. This is my fault though, and not Shoreline Cinemas, so I don't judge them on that. My next visit will be in the evening.
