We truly enjoyed staying at this DOC campsite. Lots of private spots, many clean toilets plus cold free showers / coin operated hot showers, sinks, drinking water and trash bins. So close to the beach. You can hear the traffic but it didn't bother us. We will be back!
N.
Clean showers, very close to the beach
We enjoyed our time there
The kitchen is not in usable condition
T.
Staff are great and friendly, stayed 5 days. The beach is beautiful unfortunately the tide had a lot of bloom. Wave beach not good for kayak. Beware that half way up the beach there is a nudist beach part so be mindful of your childrens eyes when driving along beach. Very clean toilets, shower. They are cleaned multiple times during the day.
T.
Nicely upgraded facilities since we were last here some years ago. Well spaced out around the site. Enjoyed a cycle ride to Waipu Cove and back, mostly on cycle path. Will be good when they have finished the middle missing bit. A visit to McLeods Brewery and Pizza is a must. You will not be disappointed.
A.
Fantastic camping spot. Toilets are clean, there are plenty of showers. Close to the beach!
Can buy ice at the main office too.
Coffee and cream place at the front entrance is really good!
H.
Good doc campground. Even at full capacity you can find a little patch for yourself. Some rubbish along the northern fence but very tidy overall. Staff are nice and friendly, facilities are tidy and well maintained. Hot shower works as expected. Few loud groups here and there but that's kinda expected when camping. Would definitely visit again 👍
A.
Probably the best public toilets & showers I've ever seen at a campsite.
Go past the bushes if you're feeling adventurous at the nudist beach 😎
Great site in general, very well kepy and would love to come back
C.
Stayed here for a week over Xmas and new years, lots of partying side. I like how they have a gay friendly sode and a family side, lots of skimpy outfits and speedos, great vibe if your into a party scene, our neighbors had massive parties with theme nights,it was great fun to see all the outfits for each theme night but i think that is a private group that organises that for themselves. But great place to stay with the beautiful beach right there. It's a must over summer for sure.
m.
This is the highlight of my 2021 so far.
Awesome beach. Long shoreline. White beach!
we did not camp though as we just stayed at Visitors site to experience the beach and it did not disappoint.
2 hour drive from Auckland.
Highly recommended.
T.
Awesome campsite at reasonable rates and great location! Plenty of space to choose from to set up tents / camper vans with toilets (long drops, a must try...) within short walking distance. Team where consistently friendly and grounds well maintained. Fantastic bench with great surf to play in.
J.
So many areas to set up camp. Great beach access. Warm showers are expensive ($2/4 minutes). The toilets DONT smell which is great! There area cold showers and places to wash dishes.
if you're there in summer, you only really need a cold shower! We stayed here twice, once when it was raining so we didn't get to hang out at the beach, but the second time was amazing!!

One of the best campgrounds we’ve been to in terms of management and amenities. Key notes:
-undesignated campsites means you get to choose (be considerate!)
-road noise but if you camp near the ocean the waves help block it out
-laundry facilities available at the office for $5
-ice available at office for $5 fresh $6 salt
-hot showers at ONE of the toilet blocks
-family friendly. There were kids biking around in groups having a good time.
-established trees for shade
-taps scattered around within easy walk
-toilets clean and vented to not smell
-little library at the office
-Zippys coffee stand at the gate provides coffee, iced coffees and smoothies.
- not too many bugs at night
The beach:
-short walk
-white sand
-really long with heaps of space for everyone
-crystal clear water
C.
Such a great camp site for both NY and Waitangi weekends. Steve and Adrian make you feel super welcome.
Mostly cold showers around the site with one two dollar coin operated for hot.
Water is drinkable.
Shade is a hot comdidty and if you don't have shade be prepared for sunburn.
Would highly recommend.
V.
Huge Safe DOC Site. Hot Showers. No sea views but sheltered & quick walk to beach.
Can use DOC Pass.
c.
Had a lovely relaxing time here. Very friendly staff. Must admit very happy to be self contained no longer having to line up for toilet and showers lol
Z.
Beautiful campsite by a stunning, huge white Sandy Beach. Facilities are kept very clean and are spread out across the site. Great for non-families 🙂 well thought out site where you can choose your spot, lots of trees and shrubbery to help with wind protection.
A.
Massive campground, even when it’s busy if you look hard enough you’ll find a space. A lot of the camping area is not flat, so be careful where you pitch. Cold showers, long drops, dishwashing stations and cooking areas are everywhere, but the hot showers are $2 and only at one location nearer to the beach. Cold showers lockable doors and hooks for your solar showers. 3 entrances to the beach, and the beach is pretty amazing. There’s garbage facilities too near the entrance. Overall would highly recommend as a campground for groups to be able to set up multiple tents/cars and have a good time. No ocean view and in the summer the dried grass/sand gets everywhere.
A.
Nothing fancy, but a quiet beautiful campsite with toilet facilities and hot shower. Entry and exit is simple. Not too far off from the motorway but the night sky is beautiful (assuming clear skies). The location is a 2 minute walk to the beach as well.
M.
Just 90 minutes north of Auckland, easy to get to and plenty of space available. No power at any of the sites and there is long drops for toilets. Hot showers are operated by $2coins. Nice beach which is about a 100 meter walk dependant where you are situated. Coffee truck onsite from 9am which also has cold drinks, ice cream and food. Ice can be purchased for $5 a bag on site. You can hear the traffic from SH1 at night, but it it is ok.
D.
Great camp ground. Tons of camping spots and the beach is very nice. Soft sand that stretches for miles. There were cars parked/driving on the beach. Only about a 3 minute walk from campground to beach. There was a picnic table at our site, and there are hot showers for $2. The water is treated and there are several water spouts throughout the campground. Entering/exiting campground was very straightforward. Location is great for checking out Waipu Caves or Mangawhai area. Would recommend visiting Lang’s Beach if you stay here.
G.
You can't go wrong with this amazing place. Firstly the staff are welcoming and explain everything perfectly. Second the site has great utilities, plenty of toilets and showers for everyone to use and although strategic, I hardly ever waited in a line for a cold shower during my 4 day stay.
I would definantly recommend going for new years!
F.
A wonderful spacious and well organised campsite. Although the toilet creeped me out at first it doesn't bother me much anymore - better than other campsites i've been before!
Getting here you pull over and enter the registry to receive a map of the campsite and the gate code and when you enter, the road way is made in a loop which gives the opportunity to pick a nice and quiet spot without interrupting the other campers.
Concerning rubbish: Rubbish and separate recycling containers are on your way out at the registry which is super convenient.
On the photos below you can see the camp registry and how much space we had to set up our tents! Amazing.
A.
No beach view but lovely quiet place to stay.
Hot shower option available
Long drops do not smell!!!
Very well maintained campsite.
B.
This is a wonderful camping area with a beautiful beach. Great place to meet people and have a relaxing getaway. More than one shower and restroom so they are conveniently located.
M.
We've been coming here for new years for the past two years and love it. Beautiful beach, plenty of space and a great LGBTQI crowd. The new management have definitely upped the game and kept everyone safe.
M.
Close to the beach. Very helpful staff, clean facilities and very family oriented! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Online booking very easy and smooth. Highly recommend to visit :)
A.
Great place to stay if you are on your way from Auckland to cape regina. Its next to the highway and has direct beach access. The beach is amazing and there are barley any people on it . Though staying there 1 night is more than enough if you don’t have a caravan.
R.
Great 2 b bak c how things go...So far so good. I remember as I have been coming here 4 over 38 years and it is always good 2 chill out here when it is not too crowded .
J.
Great campground on the most stunning beach in New Zealand. Cheap, well maintained facilities. Helpful staff
P.
Great place, right near the beach, good facilities and cell/data coverage. Steve the camp host was awesome, really helpful & friendly - as were the other staff!
B.
Beautiful and rough camp on the beach 🏖️
C.
Great little spot, coin operated hot showers is a real winner. Nice beach access and plenty of sites to choose from. BYO cooking gear. Friendly staff too :).
J.
Visit was over 2020-2021 summer. Great campsite lovely long smooth beach. Got a bit of surf going albeit the surfer (me) wasn’t very good. The are showers where are cold but hot ones have queues. Water is tasty and was plenty of space with a good rubbish disposal area.
F.
Adored this campsite...so well set up and close to the beach but sheltered from the wind...had the whole beach to myself early morning!
Z.
Quiet and beautiful beach, big and clean camp grounds, non-flush toilets, cold showers and a 2$ hot shower,
No kitchen or barbecue, not enough shady spots on the campground.
L.
Very nice campground with a gorgeous beach. Loved waking up just after sunrise to stroll the beach and take a dip in the ocean
J.
Great space wise and close to beach.
V.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff on site. Clean pit toilets and shower facilities. Free cold showers or $2 for a short hot shower. Beautiful beachside campground and a close drive to the Waipu Caves.
A.
Unbelievably clean toilet (the one we used anyway), friendly man at the office, beautiful beach. Only slight draw back is its proximity to the highway, constant hum of cars swooshing pass all night long, even drowned out the ocean waves. Amazing stars!!! Get there early to get a shady spot!
S.
This place is my go to for summer. They usually always have space, except for the New Year period, to just turn up which is very rare for a lot of campsites. Not too far from Auckland. Easy to book in advance as well. The beach is just beautiful and only a short walk over the dunes from the campsite. Kid friendly. Cold showers with good pressure, long drops that are kept quite clean, and clean drinking water is available from taps.
M.
Facility include: Showers now including a few hot ones, Long drop toilets, recycling facilities, water taps, and some under shelter areas you can bring your own cooking equipment to cook under.
This campground is great, nice and simple as DOC camps usually are. Down side is that due to its easy access the camp ground is popular with buses and camper vans, and closeness to Auckland, this campground can get very busy, even on off season camping it can be a bit hard to find a semi private spot with all the camper vans and busses parked around. Bonus is that the beach is less than 5 min walk and is large and beautiful with rolling dunes. Have been there many times and will be back.
Z.
Camping over new years was awesome
Toilets were kept clean even though they were long drop type toilets, they had hand basins and had a handwash dispenser with no hand wash in it, so i suggest you take your own. They have cold showers and and also warm showers, but for the warm showers you will need a $2.00 coin for about 5 minutes. The have tap water at different spots of the camp ground, but we always just the our own, just in case. The beach was a few minutes walk away from our camp site and it had white beautiful sand, the beach was pretty clean too. There is a coastal walk that takes about an 1hr or so, we didn't do that though, but that will be the next thing we try when we go back next year. Out side on the road across from the camp site, there are people who sell yummy fruit too. Best place I have been camping so far. Just one thing to note, when putting up your tent, make site its not on flat bumping kinda ground, as when it rains, there quite a few places on the ground that had big puddles of water.
R.
Fantastic campsite! Lots of space, great facilities and right on the beach 👌🏼😊
S.
We arrived after dark to pitch our tent. Amazing sunrise near the beach.
D.
Great place!
It’s clean, quiet and good amenities. Enjoyed the fact that the campsites were unallocated and you could pick and choose where you wanted to go. Would visit again if I was passing through
P.
Toilets busy, but beach is awesome, one of the best I've seen in years, today was exceptionally hot, waves were big, awesome
M.
Great campsite. Went on a pretty busy night but still heaps of room available. Cheap $2 for a hot shower, goes for a long time as well which is good. Nice clean facilities, bit of a smell around the toilets (but not in them) due to the ventilation system, however it's not horrible and it briefly comes and goes. Right next to the beach which was really nice on a hot day, traffic from the road was a bit loud but we are use to it so didn't bother me. Really friendly staff and reasonable prices.
D.
Very well run. One of the most fabulous beaches with clothes optional area.
J.
If you're ok with composting toilets at a beautiful beach with a good camping area you're going to live it here
B.
Close to beautiful beach. Basic but very clean facilities
G.
Better off peak, but a great asset to Northland and the country.
S.
The beach is gorgeous and the camp is clean and well managed. There is a lack of available shade (mostly smaller shrubs, very dry area), the noise of traffic from the main road, and the occasional unpleasant waft emanating from the closest toilet. If you can get a shady area much closer to the beach then you may have a 5 star experience. This place is not suitable for someone who requires easy access ♿. Still, it was lovely and you can't fault the beach, absolutely divine.
H.
Awesome camping experience every time. You don't have marked out camp sites and Uretiti beach is a white sand wonder. Beautiful 💞. Have met people who keep coming back year after year just like us. It has basic facilities as with other DOC campsites but the grounds are clean and camp managers Steve and Adrien are friendly and helpful. $15 per night per adult. See DOC website for details.
S.
We arrived late pitched our tents in the dark and woke to amazing sunrise.
P.
Great place to relax. Nice beach in both directions.
C.
Great camp. Clean and tidy facilities. Great beach.
N.
Spent a a long weekend here with friends. Arrived on a Friday around 6 pm and there was still a fair amount of spots left for tents. Easy check-in process. The beach is very wide and has an area where you can take your togs off and get sun-kissed in places that don't see much light. Yes, there is a nudist area. The camp site itself is not divided, but you can defo see where the straight people and where the LGBTQ+ communities hangout. No-one really cares, everybody is just there to enjoy a nice holiday. The toilets are really clean and there is an option for hot showers, but why pay when a cold shower feels good in Summer, right? There is a cute "bar" where they do not serve drinks but you can BYO and just hangout. Cool site!
D.
Camp here all the time!
Best DOC Camp in New Zealand personally, great location, awesome beach, awesome managers and lovely environment!
Hot showers and great gardens!!
Lots of wild-life too!
G.
Lovely clean toilets& showers. Close to a gorgeous beach
P.
Brilliant, empty beach. Turn right if you dare...
o.
Family xmas Campsite for the last few years can't fault it with access to the bay and smiling kids running around thank's uretiti d.o.c👍🙏🙏🙏👍
J.
Nice place for camping..very good beach with nice waves
2.
Second time staying here, just a fantastic spot. Best Doc run camping site in the country.
s.
Lovely beach and camp facilities. Staff were really helpful and friendly and told us what was good to do in the area
M.
Comfortable, clean. Good services. The person in charge was very friendly
V.
Great campsite, lovely ranger and basic clean services. Hot showers is definitely a plus! amazing sand beach
G.
My 3rd trip to Uretiti, a camp with character. Undulating sheltered camping spots amongst the dunes so choose your own site to suit the size and shape of your accommodation. Beautiful long white sandy beach, safe and clean with great views across to the interesting landscapes of Whangarei Heads, the Hen & Chick Islands and Sail Rock. DOC facilities great, new and well serviced. $2 hot showers for you softies. I'll be back again.
C.
Lovely location, awesome beach soft golden sand. Good camping facilities for self contained campers. Looks like it could get busy. We were there after a lot of campers had moved on.
A.
We have just finished our annual ToNeFi family camp here at Uretiti Beach Campsite. We enjoyed the hot sun and the near by Waipu Caves. Supermarket up the road. The beach is 😍 beautiful. Campsite was clean and bins provided for campers to dump they're rubbish. LARGE recycling cages for all the recyclable items. Clean toilets and showers. $2 for hot showers with proceeds going to a good cause. All the best Uretiti Beach Campsite😊
C.
This is a great campsite, even in winter. Friendly and welcoming warden, several toilet blocks, hot showers ($2 coin needed), a cooking shelter, plenty of space. The beach is lovely, long and clean. There’s a loop track which takes you along the beach and then round the back of the camp. Definitely recommend.
D.
Great place. Heaps of nooks and crannies to park. Numerous, clean composting toilets and cold showers with one coin operated hot shower. Right by beautiful beach with whitest, finest sand Ive seen for long time. Permanant , friendly staff on site. Close to lovely village, Waipu and heaps do do around the place. Amazing glow worms across the road. Whangarei only 30 minutes away.
L.
Loved my stay there have been there many and will certainly return
G.
Excellent doc campground, plenty of native trees planted in berms,( planted by camp users volunteering time and plants ) for wind shelter. Short walk to Bream bay beach, 1 hot water shower block, multiple coldwater showers , toilets, freshwater.
F.
Best campsite ever, when all the crowds go away
E.
Excellent site, well managed, and ideal for a stopover at any time. Definitely will return.
S.
Came here for a swim. Beautiful spot. Be careful of the waves and the "crabbers" laying their pots...
s.
What an amazing campsite. We went there for Easter break and were really happy with our stay. This place is huge and it was completely packed. The beach was stunning and seemed very safe. It was only a few steps away from where we camped. The toilets were reasonable clean considering the amount of people there. The best part was the coin operated hot showers. We just loved the experience there and would highly recommend it to everyone.
J.
Wonderful beach. Good waves. Not a surf beach, but great splashing. Even on a busy day, the beach, like most in NZ, seems empty.
If you camp with a tent, beat the rush. Flat and level is a premium. There's lots of space, but not that level. Caravans don't care. Tents do.
Nude beach a couple hundred meters away. If that's your thing.
h.
One of the most beautiful beaches in the NZ North island. The only negative side is the toilets on the campsite! long queues and dirty facility in the high season. Portable toilets are strongly suggested:)
B.
Such a gem of a campsite. Super friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. A mixture of families and young people. Cant wait to come back and stay again. Beautiful sunset!
I.
Nice camp area for the night. Not so much for beach views from your camping spot, but quick 1 min walk to the beach. The location was easy to find (being on the side of the main road!). Camp was busy with caravans etc but everyone kept to themselves and was nice and peaceful. Cindy in reception was welcoming and fun. The 'Hot' shower was as described! Perfect...
C.
While checking in we received clear instructions about a 10pm cut off for any stereos, this wasn't enforced and we were kept up by a group who sounded like they were having a good time. I have absolutely no issue with people having a rad time, I just wonder why the managers of this campground would set the expectation of a 10pn cut off and then not enforce it. Mixed messages. PS - I am not a grouchy old man 😂
S.
Love it! Beautiful beach, and the great customer services..we will come back again. Thank you Adrian for all the good work and all the rangers that is keeping Uretiti campsite beautiful and tidy. Keep up the good work.
b.
Plenty of space and right on the most beautiful beach. 5 minutes to shops at Waipu or Ruakaka. Lots of baby quail running around. Love it. Much planting has been done in recent years and is starting to look much less barren.
A.
We stayed here twice and despite the lack of facilities compared to a holiday park this is a popular site, locals love it too and you can see why with an unspoilt wide and beautiful beach to take long evening or morning walks along. There are hot showers here, but it is limited to just one block and the cost is NZ$2 for about 5 mins. The great thing about this camp ground is you can park up anywhere but just respect those who are already there before you.
D.
The beach is beautiful safe for children (only small waves and no rocks - obviously still need to look out for rips) Campsite is clean and has a great recycling area. Showers and toilets are clean only downfall is in peak period when campsite is full there is not enough toilets so queues are a long wait.
A.
The beach was great. The waves form consistently and spread across the beach, so there are fewer breaks for rips. The campsite itself was amazing. Treated water, 1 Hot Shower Available (Paid), Ice Available, there's an Ice Cream stall as well. Note that on the right side of the beach people often go clothing optional.
S.
One of my favourite campsites along the east coast of Northland. Easy and quick trip up from Auckland, the campsite is nestled perfectly in the dunes to protect from the wind. However, climb over the dunes, and there is a spectacular beach with gorgeous views.
K.
Campground is well run and clean, showers and loose are adequate and reasonably clean. The site is right by a marvelous beach. The downside is the traffic noise which is very noticeable at night. Still a great spot to camp
S.
I had heard good things about this particular DOC camp site and they were all true. Beautifully situated right next to gorgeous Uretiti Beach, this site is large with plenty if sites to choose from and enough facilities to ensure no long waits for the toilet or showers. There are hot water showers that can be had for $2 and plenty of fresh water as well. I'll be back as soon as I can!
N.
The beach is gorgeous and water crystal clear, but beware of the naked sun bathers. Yup, this beach is frequented by nudists.
The camp itself was decent, a little expensive for what it offered but there is a lot of room and the outhouses are clean. There is very little shade to be found and the spots with it go quickly
J.
Pretty great camping place.a good amount of amenities, though with no set placement it's kind of a free for all.
Only downside was pay showers, mostly because we didn't have a lot of cash, otherwise a great beach and site.
l.
Beautiful campsite on the lake front. Amenities are basic, ensure to bring your own water
C.
Nice camp, good facilities
S.
Nice spot next to a nice beach. Now has some warm showers. No designated areas, so you can set up where you like. Many shrubs and gardens provide privacy. Ice available. Lots of toilet blocks with showers and sinks.
K.
Aweskme campsite. Good facilities for a Doc Campsite. Lovely hosts. Family oriented. Clean, tidy. Hot pay showers or free cold. Dishwashing facilities. Would highly recommend to SC Campers and tents. No Powered sites. Choose your own site, so park wherever you want. No pets though.
M.
Great place. Just to close to the road. If you want a spot with less noise you have to cramp up with all other campers close to the sea. Nonetheless a great spot!! Clean new longdrop toilets, free unheated showers, $2 heated showers.
S.
Beautiful beach with amazing water clarity. There's little shade at the campsite, especially in summer, but there are plenty of small trees and shrubs. Even better is the crepe/ice cream van that's there in the summer
D.
Excellent staff over New Year's. I have been going off and on for years and staff by far the best. Facilities clean and very friendly staff made it an absolute pleasure to camp there😍
P.
All the facilities you need in a camp ground. Very spoiled to have a hot shower at a DOC site I thought! So definitely recommend and hopefully come back in the future.
o.
One of our favorites. In the off season there is plenty of room and great beach access. Blanket ban on generator use in Whangarei DOC supervised sites seems draconian when there are plenty of spaces between campers.
J.
The place is very nice and the camping not bad just people sometimes have been unconsiderate. Maybe they should check a bit more and avoid that one family takes the space of 5 or more tents.
K.
Huge free for all area with amenities. Hot water showers cost but free for everything else! Beautiful beach and great vibe!
A.
Campsite is spectacular, you got to get in early to get a good spot, if wanting to be near the water. Amazing views from all angles, day/night 🥰
Staff however, were unapproachable we did arrive just passed 9pm & made a lil racket when unpacking & called the office to help others get out. We did advise we would be when booking & called ahead to advise but it was STRICT orders that gates would be closed at 9pm. We accepted that we would be sleeping outside the gates till 7am open. Upon arriving late, there were 2 car loads trying to leave the campsite, they had asked if we too could call the office to help them get out, which would possibly help us get in, so I did 🤦🏽♀️🙅🏾♀️. Their personal circumstances had changed, so they needed to leave but we too had no luck. A few minutes later they had reached a ranger to open the gate. We (family of 7) got in too but only drove up to the 2nd gate, parked up & unloaded. We had 2 excited teen boys with us, so when pumping their beds at the gate they laughed a bit, camp noise ceased at 10pm. I did however stop them as soon as I had heard them.
Upon checking in at 8.30am, 2 officers at reception grilled my partner & I for what felt like 10mins. We apologised & were sincere but they just kept going, we didn't know what more to say or do. Moral of the story, Don't arrive late & call the office, make any noise after 9pm or help another or you'll deal with Mrs Trunchbull & her partner 😏
We stepped out of that office, had a breather, went on to tell the kids to keep it down at night & set up the rest of our things. Thank goodness we didn't let that ruin our family vacay. We avoided the officers/rangers & office for coins to have hot showers & duration of our trip, not even goodbye & Thank you.
We camp every summer, at different sites across the North Island. We've even been here before but never been dealt with like that, anywhere we've been! First time for everything huh 🙄 Understand that rules are in place to respect all campers & workers but it was so demoralising! Nothing we could've said, would've satisfied them, we Apologised numerous times.
C.
Numerous sites, it's a rather large and well maintained campsite, and still at DoC's standard affordable prices. The sites are separated with some trees and shrubs, though most campsites don't have much shade. It's a short walk to the beach. Cold showers are free, or you can pay for hot showers.
F.
A nice spacious campground, important that it is close to the sea. From the beach you can catch fish and crabs.
s.
Beautiful beach. Nice and peaceful. Other campers were very friendly. Definitely a place to revisit or visit if you haven't been before.
A.
Well appointed doc camp. Toilets at camp and dump station at Marsden point. Water at camp but press button taps. We stayed 14 days. Walking and biking on the beach. Cant see the sea from the camp sites
Y.
Really nice manager. Well set out with good access to beach and great facility. Will visit again.
R.
Very good and hot showers thank you
B.
Fantastic location with wonderful views on the beach. Campground is extremely well maintained. Amenities look fairly new. Hot showers are a blessing for tent campers. Highly recommend
A.
DOC campsites are in beautiful spots with clean working facilities and this one is no different
B.
Large open campsite with lots of places to tuck in out of the wind.
Hot showers at $2 for 4minutes a bonus.
J.
Beautiful beach and lovely helpful doc camp staff. Loads of places to camp. New planting looks lovely and is providing windy protection.
R.
Excellent Campground. Top quality facilities. Good beach. Close walk to the beach from the campsite. Ice available on site. Shops 5 min drive away. Good camping sites. Would return
D.
Awesome staff.so acomadating. Great to be able to choose your own spot to camp.facilities are very clean.
T.
Didnt feel too busy for the holiday season. Beautiful beach
L.
Great location, so close to the long, white, sandy beach of Urititi, and close to Whangarei, Waipu Cove, Langs Beach and Maungawhai Heads. Inexpensive, with good facilities, including extremely clean and surprisingly non-smelly long drops, plenty of washing up areas and cold showers, and even some hot coin operated showers! A portable espresso guy (good coffee!) turns up in the mornings, at least over the summer, and also sells ice creams and a range of other things. Very friendly staff, and good value for money. I only deducted a star due to some (not too loud) road noise at night.
T.
Nice and very informative host. Fantastic beach and massive space for all campers. Clean toilets and showers.
Surdently a Nice place to stay for a night.
K.
Great place to camp, have made many friend there. Fantastic clear water, great for body surfing, but need to watch out for rips
M.
Awesome campground. Most sites are close to showers/toilets. Great beach access. Everyone there is friendly. Perfect for kids!
M.
Plenty of space, great toilet and shower facilities, lovely native plantings and just over the dunes to the fantastic beach. The staff are very amenable and friendly. Totally recommend.
L.
I LOVE this beach and this camp site. It's one of my all time fave places. I use the nude area of the beach. It's a shame DOC cut down all the pine trees, not much shade now.
L.
Only went out 2 visit my son partner 4 his Bday. The Park was welcoming at the reception very friendly it was packed H N Y xx
M.
Beautiful campsite, plenty of room, easy beach access, clean facilities and the beach is beautiful
D.
Huge campground right next the beach. Heaps of space in the shoulder season.
J.
Lovely beach camping, gets busy at peak periods.
L.
Have been camping here for around 17yrs. Always have a great time . Weather is stunning. Have made great friends along the way.
S.
basic camp with hotshowers available at a charge. just over the dunes to tge amazing beach. stayed here at new year was very busy/full and vibrant .. book well in advance
M.
Wonderful campsite and very kind, helpful hosts. Clean and great facilities and love the rustic grounds. Definitely going to stay again.
E.
Was only picking up someone, looked very busy😃
A.
Lovely campsite, limited facilities, but great for a couple of nights right by the beach
G.
Awesome place for camping... loved it...
B.
Nice place to camp...clean toilets and showers
C.
Really great DOC camp, close to the main road and the beach depending on where you set up your camp. Only issue encountered was when camping at the back of a block you can end up having fun trying to drive between the sites.
A.
Good basic facilities, helpful people, beautiful scenery. Traffic and surf noise but it didn't ruin the enjoyment.
R.
Awesome Camping, with amazong showers. while showering with cold fresh water you can warm yourself up in the sun and have a great view to the sky. there are many watertaps and the toilets are clean
A.
This camp ground is amazing! There’s so much space so you can have you’re own little area and even a hot water shower!
B.
We just did a drive-through. It looks so relaxing. Informal. Personally I would prefer more trees. These are DOC grounds so pretty basic but has HOT SHOWERS!
K.
Fabulous! Lots of space, plenty of facilities, and super clean loos! Awesome friendly staff. Definitely coming back!
M.
Its a cool place to stop and sleep, and listen to the sounds of the sea,
there are shopping areas 10mins north and south, plenty beachs and picnic areas to stop and admire the views while you eat.great photo shots
To not miss out on.
M.
Nice large Doc Camp, very clean facilities, hot and cold showers. Short walk to beach. Lovely spot
S.
Such a beautiful spot to camp, right by the beach and gets the most gorgeous sunsets
T.
Beautiful but would be nice to see some tree's planted as it looks very barren after they cut all the tree's down. Its a beautiful beach to visit for the day and even better to camp over night
F.
Best DOC camp facilities. Very clean and tidy. Awesome beach. Bit of road noise but to be expected.
M.
It was an ok campsite, I found it too cramped but that was probably because it was the school holidays. Very basic toilets and showers but it is as explained. Lots of fun in the sea with the big waves.
B.
Nice camp. Plenty of camping spots. Toilets rubbish collected and cubicles to use your own solar shower. Right on the beach front.
K.
One of the best places for a holiday on a budget in Northland. Easy access to a beautiful surf beach that is good for families as well.
E.
It's a good campground with well maintained toilets and showers. However, you can clearly hear the motorway from any site in the camp.
E.
Great campsite, beautiful beach and Yvonne at the front desk was absolutely gorgeous :)
C.
There is 2 hot showers but would be nice if there were a few more. Very clean and friendly people.
V.

J.
Huge campsite. There is tons of space to set up and relax. Its only a very short walk to a very scenic beach. Campground is right of the main highway and very easy to find.

Fantastic facilities and a beach to die for. The only qualm I had was with the male ranger who seemed to have not yet learned any customer service skills.

B.
Lovely spot nice and relaxing
A.
What to say about Uretiti. No place I’d rather be

A.
Great beach! The campground has water showers with warm water and toilets. No kitchen though.
J.
Great Campsite with good facilities. Clean. Also had hot showers! Just watch out for the naked people...
T.
Only been once and it was over the new year period, but too many people. Hard to find a camping spot and queues for the loos were too long.
K.
Beautiful campsite, good facilities and beach. Only downside is the DOC managers who are uninviting, unhelpful and a bit rude.
v.
Great campground with friendly staff and good amenities. Excellent value for money and a beautiful beach.
B.
Great place off the beaten track with a beautiful beach and good basic facilities.
T.
Great campsite, looking forward to going back again next weekend
d.
Beach is seriously perfect...Campground is awesome...but some tree huggers need to get in and plant some trees and get some cover...you bake on that bald patch...
S.
Love this campsite. There is better control as to who comes in via a pass code and traffic control beams. Need to book WAY in advance to get a spot.
S.
I just went to look at the views and ohhhh mmmyyy gooossshh they are amazing 😁 I felt like Cat in the Hat walking through Dr. Zuesses Fairytales 🧚♀️🧙♀️🧝♀️🧜♀️🦸♀️

Very relaxed type of campground. No powered sites but this summer they are now offering hot water showers

L.
Great location, beautiful beach and helpful staff at check-in

(Translated) Good location, close to the beach. Correct price for a Doc ($ 14 for a tent). Plenty of cold showers and 2 hot showers of 3min for $ 2. Home a bit cold, not the best of New Zealand for sure. To advise anyway.
(Original)
D.
(Translated) Very nice location, only the dunes separate the huge DOC campsite from the beach

Sehr schöne Lage, nur die Dünen trennen den riesigen DOC Campingplatz vom Strand

(Translated) It is $ 15 per person and it is quite big, so you do not have to reserve it (except for the year-end and holiday). Hot shower 2 infertility. It is good to go for a swim in a nearby beach. The coefficient is good enough to be good at setting. It is a good place to stop by for campers.
(Original)
