L.Most beautiful boutique cinema in Wanaka.
We absolutely love coming here to have a good, cozy evening with snacks and drinks and a great movie. The atmosphere is lovely, staff is very friendly and both cinemas are great! Especially cinema two with the huge reclining, comfi "lazy boys" 🤗 we'll be back soon.
S.Eclectic and mercurial, one of the most unique cinemas I’ve been to in NZ. Fantastic ambience but be prepared for snafus - films starting without sound, unavailable things on menu like cocktails, the AC being bone chillingly cold or otherwise the cinema being a tad stuffy (blankets thankfully provided!) and nowhere to keep food, from extensive menu one can order, on the seats - unlike other premium cinemas with a table per seat. But overall, lovely space and place and intimacy gives it a special vibe esp if with a group. Also just great to hangout over a cocktail, or coffee - before, after or even without ever seeing a movie.
J.Very awesome place. We went to see Three Billboards there on a rainy day and love it so much we went back the next day to see another movie. Small, intimate theaters, wine and snacks, and a cool intermission halfway. And Geordie who runs the place is lovely. Highly recommended for those who love film.. get out of the multiplex and check this place out.

L.We had an amazing time at Ruby's Cinema a couple weeks ago. The theatre is charming, and the movie setup is extremely comfortable. The man working was super kind and friendly, and made a fantastic flat white! We really loved our afternoon here and would highly recommend it.

R.One of the best and most quaint movie theaters in Otago. Best film selection and showtime offerings. Comfortable seats, recliners, and couches in a small, intimate theater. Intermission is a nice touch. The one drawback is that there is no freshly made popcorn — I mean, how can you have a cinema without a popcorn maker?! Seems like a pretty obvious thing to be missing. After all, part of the authentic cinema experience is the smell of freshly popped popcorn in the air. This alone gets patrons to buy more snacks and refreshments. Kind of unfortunate that this detail was overlooked. That being said, this is still my favorite cinema in the Cromwell/Central Otago area. Alcoholic beverages and food items are on offer, which is a plus.
S.Such a luxurious bar, so comfy, staff amazingly helpful and friendly, like going to your friends for a movie night! Love the intermission too! Fabulous movie as well. Really recommend the lemon ginger honey hot drink ! Fresh and yummy 😋

J.Favourite Wanaka cinema. We absolutely love visiting Ruby’s, what a treat. The team are always so consistently lovely and you can’t beat the small cinema for really getting into a movie. They have a decent wine list (which you can drink while watching), the best pop corn and caramelised onions on a hot dog which is just insanely good. Love this little get away, must do in Wanaka.
T.What a great place - surely amongst the best movie theaters in the world! 12 recliner chairs (these are the only seats in the theater!), service from the bar, excellent sound system, and fantastic movie themed ambience. Wish we could go there every week, but alas it is located near a beautiful mountain lake in NZ. Go there when you can, you'll love it!!

J.If I could watch all of my movies here, I would. Screen 2 has huge reclining chairs, plenty of space, waitress service and great picture and sound.
The young lady behind the bar was super friendly and helpful too. All in all, a brilliant experience at Ruby's.

K.What a treat. The staff were always really friendly and helpful. We booked seats the day before, and when we arrived sat down in their lovely bar area, which has this great classic red velvet art cinema vibe to it. the seating area was ringed with dozens of classic movie books which we browsed, and the girls brought us over the jaffa martinis we'd ordered, which were genuinely delicious.
Lots of options for more sweet treats, savory food, and other really tempting alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. We grabbed another drink, ordered some food for the movie which the girls said would be brought to us, and relaxed into the film. Relaxed being the operative word, think your own personal lazy-boy style seat, and you're close. The theatre is small but perfectly formed, nice crisp screen, and a really well balanced sound system, even if we hadn't already partaken of the great cocktails and food being brought to us, a cinephile would find the quality of the screening alone to be very high.
A real luxury experience, and one that's spoilt me for my local multiplex, how am I supposed to enjoy films now wtihout a delicious caprioska in my hand ? 8) Thanks to the girls for looking after us, and Rubys for being one of the best indie cinemas I've set foot in.
M.Magic happens. We were on our roadtrip through NZ and read about this cinema. We didn‘t except a lot, but boy were we wrong. Super friendly staff, quality films that made us stay for a second film. Yummi snacks served to the seat, which are perfectly comfortable. In the break: great music by Paul Simon. This was a highly unlikely evening in a cinema that truely deserves its name!
