Cool place. Much love to Deros(spelt correctly she ain't owned). Love how you can still skate there. After many decades of fighting. It's good to know that there is a place people can have a place to remember their lost and loved.

I sat in a giant bronze conch shell sculpture which was awesome and very relaxing...Well it was until the sprinklers turned on and I had to flee in great haste after getting a good soaking to onre side of my face and body! it woke me right up lol ... and It was exciting anyway .😊

Well maintained the puhutukawa with the soldier hidden in the tree and when you move to the right slowly it turns into a kereru. The actual war memorial building still closed.

What a cool place to visit. I took the guided tour and it was very informative. So much to learn that I didn't know already!. The trench tour was pretty sweet too.

Wonderful tour followed by The Trench Experience by Peter Jackson. Highly recommended.

I visited in 2018, when they had the exhibition that Sir Peter Jackson helped create. It was amazing! The level of detail is extremely high. Would definitely recommend going!

Small intimate memorial inside the building, it makes you feel the sadness of war. The respect for those who served and who are serving in the armed forces.

A place of great significance to all New Zealanders. The only disappointing aspect of this park is that it's indoor Hall of Memories remains currently closed. This is due to the hall needing earthquake strengthening. The outside memorials are still fascinating.

Needs more colour, but the skaters are fine, can't believe the soldiers it's supposed to honour would object to anyone using the park to have fun

Amazing skate park, there are loads of things to do there, though some of the grinds there are a bit rough they still grind well, although some of the people there tell me to leave??!!! i find it odd as there are always loads of other people skating there...

In remembrancers of all fallen heroes, they have died so we may live in peace.

This is a really great place to sit down and study, take the kids down to play around or lay on the grass and have a picnic. Two public toilets located onsite.

A war memorial deserving of the fallen ones who fought for freedom.

This is exceptional. The atmosphere, the information the opportunity to learn the salient points of a war that is now 100 years remote. There is a kind of interactive, semi-experiential, and almost reverential atmosphere to the whole exhibition. The explanation text is light at the first level, but more if you want more. I did not feel overwhelmed with text, but absorbed the visuals and sounds.From the French alleyways that greet you, to the life-size models, and the battlefield scenarios.. the exhibition is engaging. A good overview of World War 1. I would say, "Not to be missed!" Along with the Gallipoli exhibition at Te Papa, an excellent history.Here's a tip: Go early in the weekend (it opens at 10am), before it very quickly gets real busy!

Excellent park, well maintained. A special place on Anzac Day.

Really well designed park, very inviting and a quite aesthetic choice for photos, this allows for some really good times, I remember that one time we threw a surprise party for my friend here, and they had such a blast, also very convenient location near the cbd, and lots of good stores. Maintenance is very well kept too, overall one of the best parks I've been too, more for adults as there's no kids facilities here

Most beautiful dawn Service for Anzac day! Park is stunning and a great spot for a walk

In the midst of a busy part of Wellington city is this quiet oasis. There is access for cars but the place has clearly been designed for pedestrians. There are quiet places to sit and contemplate your good fortune or eat your lunch - or do both of these things. There are two art works relating to war as well as thoughtful street furniture and plantings. I shall return.

A nice tranquil city centre park with various sculptures on the theme of commemoration. You'd never know there's a busy road underneath. There's usually parking at the top of Tory Street (paid street bays), except at school drop-off and pick-up time.

This place of veneration has been transformed and since 2015 has been a superb venue for ANZAC and Remembrance ceremonies. Its gently landscaped park also hosts the memorials of Australia, the UK, France and Turkey. A must-visit at any time of year.

Our place to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, both Kiwi and allies. A peaceful spot for reflection and centreing.

Easy access from multiple streets. Free access, wheelchair access possible. Attended ANZAC Dawn Service. Very large space read the plaques and look around. Next to old memorial museum thoroughly recommend seeing it when in Wellington. Can be viewed night or day.

Anzac day - funny holiday. It's a good combination of New Zealand reticence, and things forgot. Cold, is what I tend to associate with anzac day.

A nice war memorial park, not huge but not small as well; just the right size. A great way to use the space over the shallow tunnel; you can commemorate the fallen soldiers, or enjoy the sun on the grass lawn, as well as look at the majestic War Memorial monument in front of the hall of memories. The park also have plenty of benches.

It's a beautiful place to sit down and enjoy the sunshine, free internet :), talk to visitors and watch the children play :). I'm so glad it's not too far away from where I live and I love going to the Pukeahu National War Memorial. It's very peaceful :)

It's a Tapu place; a place to pause, draw strength and refocus on what really matters.

This is so worth a visit, the whole experience was fantastic and really informative. So much detail and easy to see how every town in NZ was affected too. The war memorial was a nice place to sit and contemplate too.

Beautiful, solemn memorial to the New Zealanders who served and died in World War II. I had the honor to visit and be a part of the commemoration ceremony that took place here on the anniversary in September 2017 with our New Zealand brothers and sisters in arms. Beautiful works of art also surround the memorial, so there is plenty to see around this site, making it a worthwhile place to visit while in Wellington.

ANZAC day 11am service. Very beautiful. Youth choir was outstanding.

My friend's and I go there

I accidentally encountered the last post. It's on every day. It was moving and beautiful. I deeply respect all New Zealanders that had to go away and be murdered. Especially since someone like me has never experienced war in my whole life span. It's a good thing they are remembered every day.

Weighed up multiple pounds and punched countless cones in the bathrooms mean spot and great for skating

This is a place to commemorate those who had fallen during war. A good place to visit and understand part of the New Zealand history. The event for ANZAC Day held here.

The park surrounding the War Memorial Museum was really nice, unfortunately the museum was closed due to re-strengthening.

Also a memorial for Spanish flu victims of 1918 opened in 2019. This reminds to be carebful about future pandemics as the current one now taking place throughout the whole globe, COVID-19.

This is an area that as New Zealanders, we can be really proud of. It's a mix - understated, yet making such a powerful connection that involves those who visit. You'll experience something special every time you visit

The park has terraced grass patches which allows for spaced out picnics. Clean public toilets are a bonus. If you have time to check out the museum, the craftsmanship of the displays is outstanding.

Befitting National War Memorial that imbues visitors with the sense of magnitude of the World Wars it commemorates. The use of the Arras tunnel create a surreal contrast between the calm of the memorial park and the energy of the surrounding city. The Australian memorial standing as the first to face the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior is a superb reminder of the Anzac ties that bind our nations. If you miss Anzac Day here, visit at 5pm daily during WWI's centenary to hear the Ode to the Fallen read at the Last Post in English and Maori.

A interesting collection of memorial sculptures, structures, plantings and writings. Highlighted by the Carillion and Hall of Memories. Needs thorough exploration to fully appreciate.

Exceptional place with beautiful space

A poignant and thought-provoking peaceful memorial for so many who lost their lives battling for freedom from tyrrany. I was present for the 100th anniversary of the Armistice sunset service which was very nicely presented, with culture integrated with technology for a very moving event.

Thid. Is part of NZ's short history, first and formost to remember, honourand pay respects to the men and women who fought and served for country and crown, in the various wars. The Carilli9n bell tiwer is also a magnificent piece of art dwxi archetechture, and. Its sherr size and granduer, serves well for us to reflect, pay respects and honour our proud, brave and courageous men and women who served.

Peaceful. Quiet. Great place for reflection or simply to stand and soak it in.

Pukeahu National War Memorial The changing face is amazing in this area Once upon a time it was an area of swamps with eels and gardens for growing kau around the hill named puke ahu # Now the hill is leveled and a place of national interest,commemoration and history. Maori iwi Ati awa of Taranaki settled here Te aro pa was situated at the central park gardens.

Great setting, represent our past as a remembrance well in a calm setting.

Be there in the evening at 5pm when the military sound the last post, lower the flag and read the ode.

I love it fantastic but I don't understand why people find the need to disrespect and vandalize the memorial by skateboarding this coming from a Fellow skateboarder its sad to see that especially considering I have done LSV and have an understanding and great respect for the memorial.

Mucho dogs, it was mucho stressful, but that was the point in being there! Loved it!

A fantastic place hidden in plain sight. Just needs to up the game on the Cafe (Wellington demands the highest standards) and it will be a 5 star score.

Great world war one display. We went to Wellington just to see this. Guide wrongly tried to tell me that they used penicillin during ww1. I told him that is was not discovered until 1928.

Very well maintained with beautiful grounds but the tour guide spoke for a long time and that got boring after a while - but I would highly recommend.
