F. M.Thistle Hall is a great large hall space. It's a blank canvas for your events. It has a wooden floor, chairs, 10 or so tables and a small kitchen. Ventilation is via the small opening windows so it can get a bit hot in summer.
The kitchen has an oven and a stovetop but be aware that it is not equipped to cater for large events. It has very few cups, plates and cutlery. No industrial dishwasher. There is a hot water zip.
Wheelchair access via a lift.
It's a great venue and an asset to our community.
P. J.Amazing hall facilitating diverse and beautiful art and community - a new exhibition/installation/event every week. I’ve exhibited there - it was accessibly priced and beautifully set up with lots of people coming in from the street. I’ve also enjoyed sculpture, poetry, visual arts, a project comparing photos of dogs and their owners asking viewers to say yes or no to a likeness in each pair. F. F.Fantastic community arts venue, you can hire out for your own exhibition or go and view some excellent local arts, everything from painting to jewellery to pottery. Often curated by the artists themselves so you can get an insight to there process.
R. S.Those windows in front need to be changed. They don't provide good rain or wind protection. Hate to see the artworks getting water damaged.
T. W.An informal venue with good, usable spaces and facilities as well as generally available nearby parking, the location is pretty handy as it is on the junction of Cuba Street and SH1 (Northbound).
One downside is that with the windows open for cooling in hot weather the traffic particularly on Cuba Street can be intrusive.
Z. H.What an awesome idea! A public place where talented artists can hire the space and display their work. Makes my walk home more interesting!
