Reviews of Castlecliff Beach
R.We went here a couple of times, one of those times the lifeguards with flags were on duty. The beach was clean with lots of interesting shells, stones and driftwood for the kids to discover. There is a shower to wash off the sand, but as we were staying nearby we didn't use this.
C.Has sand of the black variety, shells, rocks, a little driftwood and lots of water you can dip your feet in. You can walk the doggos, walk yourself, or run around on a vehicle or horse. You can make things out of sand and stuff. Very beachy.
J.Wow!!! Duncan Pavillion is a great venue with a kitchen, toilet and roomy space. I was there Guy Fawkes evening and just as l was leaving this venue, Castlecliff Beach came alive with a wonderful Community feel Very exciting on a very delightful evening Lovely Beachside area.
D.Stunning long beach. Black sand and decent waves if you get it right. Great place for a stroll.
K.Quiet area, where you can enjoy a family picnic and go surfcasting. The adventure playground is top class. Bring your own toilet paper when using the public restrooms, toilet facilities. Drive past the iconic drift wood house.
T.Pleasant area to walk, great for dogs in the early morning or later in afternoon. Lots of driftwood, have used a lot in my garden.
Sunsets over the sea over the last 10 days have been spectacular, Mt Taranaki has been very visible with its light topping of snow.
As I live adjacent to the beach, can hear the waves on a quiet night and on stormy days go to the lookout and just watch the whitcaps for as far as you can see.
S.The place is great, after lock down tons of seals found themselves along the beach or at the mole.
l.Beautiful place to visit and enjoy the sun setting. We found crabs which we never knew we had. Great place to swim, safe with life guards. Has a playground for children 5 min walk /drive.
S.Need to bring your own toilet paper but apart from that it's a great place to play or enjoy the beach.
J.I find the beach very calming,probably because I spent a lot of time there with many happy memories.
S.Got married here, affordable and great view's with plenty of parking...no need to drive anywhere else with amazing backdrops for photos!
S.Grat fun with grandies and my wee toy dog whom I cleaned up after as one should but pity some don't

r.Omg we are so lucky to have a amazing beach and seashore to explore and enjoy iron sand is ok not as glamorous as golden sand but our beaches are very beautiful
G.Another wonderful North Island wild and beautiful West Coast beach with long and sandy beaches. This particular beach is for experienced swimmers or limited to patrolled areas for kids or adults who cannot swim confidently. Fishing in this area is good in a fizz boat or torpedo long line.

H.This is a cool place to relax and chill and they have a cool market please come on down on a sunday to the market where you can score your self yummy food and other bargins from the nice people that sell their stuff their on a sunday i go their and scored some good stuff from the nice people their at the market and the food was yum so please come down tonthe market and support the ones that sell their stuff their.
B.Very special west coast North Island beach. Italian Cousins rapped with it ,went back several times to walk through the drift wood. My 5 year niece from Taupo told told me that the sand had diamond in it....Never saw that before, have a look next time you are down there

But for the parent with runners in need of supervision: the beach is full of debris. I wouldn't feel safe with little ones running and falling on the wooden obstacles from the sea while it might also keep them busy building fortresses and using their imaginations. Have a look it is a 50-50 beach for me at the moment.

K.Castlecliff beach is almost a hidden gem. It's so close to town, barely a 10 minute drive and yet it's peaceful and often you can have the beach to yourself. I love searching for shells and interesting bits of driftwood.
L.I always enjoy going to the beach. I find it refreshing getting down to nature. It is different every walk. My dogs also enjoy the Beach. Dogs are supposed to be on leads around the Pavilion and Public area. Swimming should be supervised and between the flags in summer Season as the tide is very changeable. This Beach is an awesome place for Family and friends. There are public toilets near by, and a park with BBQ facilities. Make a day of it.

F.My expectations for a beach worth visiting are high and I was underwhelmed. However, the kid's park close by is quite cool particularly for older toddlers/preschoolers and up.

S.Clean and quiet. Just the place to do some light reading whilst the kids play in the kiddie park.
A.It's a wild south coast beach. Black sand, lots of sand dunes, windy, boardable waves and everyday is different. Surf Lifesaving has a clubhouse here and operates in the summer. The Duncan Pavillion is available for all your function needs. And we love the lone outdoor shower right as you leave the sand.

J.On a nice day this place would be amazing with the black sand, scattered wood debris and surf, but the two days we were here it was overcast and very windy and jellyfish were washing up on the shore (Jan)
W.A nice rest stop overlooking the Tasman sea. A playground for the kids is on the otherside.
S.A great place to go at the end of the day and enjoy the sunset.
