The movie was great. The Staff were friendly and helpful and it's a simple layout, making different areas easy to locate. Lots of parking, free after 5 or 6pm I THINK 🤔 The Cinema that we were in was very comfortable due to new seating. The only thing lacking was cleanliness. Nothing really bad,as if the Staff didn't clean between sessions. I will say that there were too few Staff on but I guess were all struggling at this time in our own ways.

Amazing movie great variety of food. Great staff. The guy who made the coffee though WOW!!! The nicest retail worker I have ever met in my life thank you for making my day

Care taken to keep people safe from catching Covid was good. Seating very comfortable. Lovely small studio cinema for an amazing film : The power of the dog. Sounds just right No glitches. The only negative thing was I could hear noisy music coming through the wall from the scenting next door

A bit expensive for what it is compared to others. Seats a bit nicer now but didnt seemed cleaned or sanitised from the last people that were there.

It's got moderate cinemas with small to decent sized screens. If you want to watch anything on big screen at Whangarei you have no choice but get here. 1. movie tickets - standard event cinema prices which should be adjusted based on location I believe. 2. Seating - not much of leg room or comfort just decent seating. 3. Movie Quality - it's quite good and so is the sound system. 4. Hygiene - I don't have any great opinion as you may find junk on the floor sometimes and unsure of the toilets. Overall it's satisfactory to make some fair memories atleast for the quality of the movie👍

Lady on duty. Was so Generous . Even allowed me in 40 min after start. Like the clean updated place.

First time there , the staff were friendly and doing a good job in this lvl2 environment. All in all pretty good

Love whangarei only because of this cinema. Friendly staffs and very nice service, will always recommend it if you want to see the movies.

Prices are still steep, but all the work they have done to make this a more comfortable experience is incredible. Great seats, and very spacey. Screen and audio is very clear, so well worth the experience. 10/10.

The new and wider seating plus snacks and drinks tables makes for a great cinema experience.

When you need to get out for a couple of hours you can't beat the cinema new seats and comfort with a snack for the win.

My Review is all good exept for 1 thing that should be Compulsary. They should bring back INTERMISSION.

It was quite dark inside the theatre which I did find a bit scary and suspicious. But my brave son Adam told me it’s apparently normal for movie theatres to be this dark. His dad must take him to movies. His father and I aren’t together anymore we divorced due to financial issues😂. So I’m obviously not the one to take Adam to the movies.

Sometimes it is great to go and watch a movie....Peter Rabbit 2....when there is only 4 other people in the theatre. Clean and tidy,quick using self service ticket machine. Polite cashier. And you really need to go and see Peter Rabbit 2 ,fantastic movie.

You have to love any venue that has parking literally at the front door. Theatres are modern with very comfortable seating. Great range of the usual snacks and cheerful staff. Always a great experience!!

Since the upgrade the cinema is actually quite amazing for a regional hub. Good food, alcohol is available, comfy seats. Gone are the hard floors. The screens are better and the sound is amazing. Do recommend.

Picking up tickets could be made much quicker if there was a separate place to purchase popcorn etc. The cinema is great but I really dislike waiting to scan in pre booked and paid for tickets. Can add and extra 20 minutes to wait.

Yay...fabulously renovated Whangarei theatre. Seats are awesomely comfortable heaps of leg and arm space (no more overlapping on to neighbors) and all so clean. Upcoming movies look good. But food n drinks could do with an upgrade with more reasonable pricing, especially for children. Well done Event Cinema Whangarei 4-⭐ from me.

Great place to go with friends. Great discounts, great staff! Amazing service. Booking in advance helps too, and would recommend only to go in on Tuesdays as its only $12 for adults, seniors and children above 8 I think. Although snacks are expensive and the variety of snacks they have are not enough. Be prepared to pay 15.50 for a regular combo.

Since renovation these cinemas are great. During COVID-19 they have enforced great social distancing for seat bookings. We went to Tenet in Level 2 and were only let down that the movie had not been correctly calibrated to the screen. Friendly staff.

I regularly go to movies here. The staff are friendly and helpful. We've only had one significant problem when the air conditioning wasn't working and the cinema was stifling as a result. My partner pointed this out to management and we received free tickets to another movie. Overall, I'm pleased with the service we've received here.

Amazing movie vibes!! Seats could do with the console in the middle opening for valuable storage spot but the cinema itself was worth it 😉

Good staff, nice service and good locations

The cinema is in need of a thorough cleaning. Carpets, curtains and seats. Years if dust on the velvet curtains. Food stains in the carpets and seat covers. The experience of going out for a evening at the cinema should always be an enjoyable one. Let's get our cinema back to clean state. Happy movies

Yo to the guy at the counter he's the man cause his assistance made me save $30 at least

Seats are now comfy after updating. The rooms are no iMax but they are ok. Popcorn is awful.

Handy multi level parking right outside door, Super friendly and helpful staff, theatres are smaller in seating capacity so feels cute and safe. Only downer 🙁 it needs a make over the furnishings are tired but other than that the movies are Cool the pop corn is freshly popped, the drinks fizzy and the chocolate covered ice creams are Yummy (vanilla, boysenberry or orange with chocolate chips)

The hygiene isn’t the greatest and comfortably has much room for improvement. The staff could be a bit more friendly. It’s fine for an occasional visit but the cinema needs better care and more enthusiasm.

We had an amazing night there, watching detective pikachu got a cheap deal on food too we ordered 3 of there flavored combos $12 each for flavored popcorn of your choice with a drink And the kids sat through the whole movie. With a small income not bad for a family of 4.

I mean, it's hard to talk smack about the movie theatre that I basically grew up in. The place is great. The atmosphere is always good, I've never really had a bad time coming here. Only complaints is compared to some places in Auckland, the seats are pretty average and the popcorn is often fresh and needing way more seasoning. Other than that, for Whangarei, it's pretty decent tbh

Cinema is okay upkeep wise and is in line with its age, it's a bit confusing without showing names on each cinema room now. Be good to renovate the older rooms so there isn't an aisle in the middle. There is one young guy who works there who is a total tool though. Have had 3 snooty encounters with him when he's checking the tickets at the door for R16 movies; Asks rudely for ID (I am also clearly in my 30s) and threatened to not let us in when we didn't have any but had already purchased the tickets at the counter. Always has a sly remark and an attitude. Better taking a trip to Albany, enjoy a nicer cinema without the sass.

Better now that it's been revamped, nice new seats- what spoiled the first 20 mins and into the main movie is that the staff forgot the cleaning lights on, in the theater-spoiled things for the family! (I had to go out and find a staffer to turn them off! Wow)

Nice comfortable seats I only wish airliners where the same, freindly service at the kiosk with a wide choice.

They have done up the place, I was shocked when I went to see fronzen2, you actually have nice comfy seats to relax and enjoy on while watching your movie. They now have different variety of popcorn and other food. Its lovely here do recommend

Ignore the 3 star rating from last year as this cinema has received a fabulous face lift! Super luxurious and smaller cinemas make this a particularly special cinema experience

I love a good movie. Good prices. The chairs in the older 3 theaters are a bit less comfortable then the newer 2 but still good enough to make it through a sitting.

First of all if you have never been there before make sure you know where to find it. It was challenging looking where to park your car as there are no clear visible signs indicating that there is a movie theatre there. Even driving slowly looking for the entrance. There were 2 ways to enter. One had no signs at all you can walk past it and not notice it. Besides all that it looked like it needed a bit of a tidy up. It was good seeing a wheelchair lift inside. It looks like a small theatre as we didn't go in as the movie was booked out. So probably book online to make sure you get your ticket.

I walked in there with a drink from another place and didnt even realise. They promptly told me that they state no food or drink allowed unless bought from the cinema, understandable. I then handed it over the counter to receive at the end of the movie. However just 5 minutes into the ad break, a staff member comes in and hands my drink to me, thanks for that whoever you were, the drink quenched my thirst quite nicely as the movie was very intense, I needed it.

Made a last minute decision to go to the movies, bought tickets online in the car on the way so to avoid the queue, got to the theatre on time but then had to wait in the "online booking" queue which was a mile long... Event Cinemas need to update their booking system. If you offer a streamlined system that system actually needs to be streamlined... who waits in queues anymore anyway?

I came here to see the movie Doctor Strange with my family a couple of years ago. As I recall the facility was clean and the employees were helpful.

Good to have a good movie to go to..loved it about the Blooms lives. Great theatre and comfy not like the old days.

Waited for grandson coming out of theatre. Watched a young man by the name of Ricky I think. What a great employee you have there. He kept the lobby spotless. He went from theatre to theatre to clean after end of session. He worked hard and never stopped. What a fab young man you have there..hold tight to him, workers like him are hard to find.

Liking the new set up with comfortable seating. Getting a bit pricey; food,drinks etc to go on a regular basis. But still worth a visit or two on occasion.

Had a good experience here. Went on cheapo Tuesday so it was reasonable value. It can be busy depending on the movie but we bought our tickets on line so got sorted really easily. All in all it was a great experience

Seating arrangements are far better now they've been upgraded. Food is expensive, staff are nice.

Went to see Toy story today ( Jul 9th ), So grateful to the young men there, Helping me into the lift and getting me a seat at the top, as unable to walk far as waiting for knee replacements. Excellent service & kindness,Thank you so much !

Has disabled access. Seats and shows can be booked online. Online bookings have their own priority queue. Usual drinks and snacks available. The older cinemas on the lower level need a face-lift.

Good sound system, fairly good picture quality. Seats need renewing and cinema 1 needs the lower middle screen cleaned as there's two dirty patches on it.

It needs a movie/time display board rather then a small piece of paper on a pin board. The seating in the theatre was comfortable and spacious.

Mary Poppins Returns. More modern but still a good movie, nice that Dick Van Dyke was given a small role. Clean and Tidy. Staff helpful and friendly.

My only issue is why is it 16 dollars here and 8 dollars 50 in Auckland. Maybe it's time some competition no options for movie goers would. Help. As we pay way to much for the popcorn and ice-cream as it is.

Decent cinema with average seating, kept quite clean and have friendly staff! Guardians 2 was incredible, should disassociate worth spark though, the thanks system is always down!

It's in a great location and the staff are always nice and helpful. My only issue is the seating... it's horrible. Small, cramped seats make for an unpleasant, uncomfortable viewing experience.

Bathrooms smelt. The cinema was dirty on the seats and also smealt terrible. Staff were friendly enough. The movie seemed out of focus alot of the time.

Daaamn prices are through the roof. Spent my house deposit to watch Alita in 3D. Instead, i had my ear drums playing russian roulette because someone forgot their hearing-aid and cranked that bad boy to max. Good movie though. Would recommend to watch in non 3d format and from the comfort of your home. Save dat money - Lil Dicky

My son and I went to see The loin king. We have been redirected to new seats because other people say on our seats. Then we been asked to move over because where we were seating were their seats!! It was not a nice experience.

Great place for entertainment. Not cheap but good. Rarely crowded. Do not park on the rooftop as we have had our car broken into 10 days ago.

Always clean and tidy cinemas. The lines can be very long at peak times, suggest booking online either ahead of time or on your phone while standing in line.

Great cinemas. Quite expensive extra's. I would highly suggest going on half price Tuesdays. Staff service is fast and professional.

Staff are helpful. Has screenings for the majority of English films released. Price is a bit high in relation to other cinemas in new zealand.

A bit tacky and grubby but is the only cinema in Whangarei .I have visited today and a very good renovation is underway, new seats,curtains, carpet and more, a pleasure to visit now. I am adding another star.

Good size theatres for a small town.

One of the most enjoyable (SCI FI or ANY) movies I've seen in a while! Altho I amit, I'm probably a "Trekky" way way back to the original T.V serie's, this is a GREAT stanalone movie, that goe's backl to the origina's of the Enterprise crew : i.e: Captain Kirk before he was even in Starfleet! Excellent and enjoyable movie, that has humour, great special effect's, a STORY, almost everything!!!! A+++ rating from me, for this movie!

This place is ok but it really needs refurbishment. Cinemas can smell musty at times, service isn't always great, no gold star or extra facilities available.

Great way to spend a wet weekend afternoon, at the movies. Not overly busy, and smashing smell of movie popcorn.

What to say, popcorn and beverages were good, only thing slightly bothering was the theater was quite warm so sat uncomfortably.

Went to a movie on a Monday afternoon in theatre 3. Popcorn on the floor and the seats are quite tired meant my review is just OK.

Generally a great place to visit with fast and pleasant service. Booking ahead makes a huge difference with reserved seating.

Went there to watch paddington bear 2 and it was clean and well presented. Cost $10 per ticket and $2 for parking.

It's a slightly dated cinema which plays films. It does the job well and there are no nasty surprises

They only show movies no ballet etc as mentioned above in this centre. Conveniently located.

Seats cramped but there is no other choice for Whangarei movie goers.

Great experience. Have been there many times in the past but now they have renovated it and it way better! Nice big comfy sets with lots of room and cup holders. Will definitely be going back soon
