Reviews of Manganese Point Beach
L. G.This beach is pretty but hardly one of the best in NZ. This is partly due to the view of the refinery, and the fact that it's a very rocky beach.
I'm glad I went and got to see it but I won't be making this one of the beaches I regularly go to.
There are very nice stairs to get to the beach, which is important for people that have any trouble getting around. But I would still say that it's tough to walk on the beach itself as it's so full of rocks, and sharp oyster shells. If you're looking for an easy beach to walk on, this isn't the one for you.
There were people there fishing so it may be a good fishing spot. There are a lot of trees, however, so you'd need to be careful. We were there between high and low tides. It may be better for fishing at low tide?
We are so spoiled for choice here that I felt I had to give it 4 stars. If it weren't for the stairs and that it was clean, I would have given only 3 stars. If I could have given 3 1/2 stars, I would have. That's what I feel it deserves.
Have fun out there. Enjoy the incredible beaches we have in NZ!
R. G.Absolutely beautiful place to rest over. Be warned however if you have a large caravan it's not that easy to park or turn around as very tight. Pays to walk down and check first. Would love to stay again however we are too large.

M. M.Nice private stone/Shell beach. Not accessible by wheelchair, as their are steps to negotiate. Short 5 minute walk from the minimal amount of parking. Beautiful spot though.

If you have kids or if you want to swim in the water. I HIGHLY recommend some type of aqua shoes or something similar as the beach is rocky with very sharp shells in them that will slice your feet open.
P.Really I use it as a walk destination from Scott Road walking track along Past the Blue Heron holiday park and up along to the end of Manganese point Rd lots if outlooks from.height across the Harbour
