Amazing spot, Google maps point is drifted a bit.
The climb is a bit difficult and the route is not smooth.
A very nice view at the end

Must do when you visit Dargaville..!
This summit will blow your eyes..
It's only 15-20 min climb up to the summit, but it's very steep so you need to wear a proper hike shoes other wise will be so sleepery. Casual sneaker/adidas not recommended.
The view from the peak was amazing, surrounded by green view and beautiful lake..
Worth to visit!!

Hidden gem - please be aware this lookout is not built for elderlies or the toddlers as the path to the top is quite steep

I finally decided, after moving to the area over 3 years ago, to do the climb. The first part of the well formed track is easy and it was good to see that there was a working footwear cleaning station to prevent Kauri die back at the entrance. The final part to the summit was a different story. Steep, rocky and not for the faint hearted. Being a 76 year old I did have a moment of doubt but was determined and climbed it on all fours, coming down the same way, backwards. The view from this unusual peak is amazing. Check my photos.

Very short hike to the top. The view is actually pretty great. Definitely worth a stop to stretch your legs if you’re driving along the west coast. There is some scrambling near the top that might be difficult for children or the elderly. Also, be careful at the top as it’s a shear drop and there are no railings or safety guards. Cool little walk though.

Not for the fainthearted. Do not attempt if you are not fit or scared of heights! But the views are well worth the effort. If you make it to the top!
K.
Good 20 minute hike up the mountain.
The last part is quite steep the last 8 minutes but well worth the hike to the peak see this amazing view.

It had just been raining and we got along the first part of the track okay, but the last bit was too steep and slippery, so we had to reluctantly admit defeat and go away disappointed.
N.
Stunning views from the peak, not too hard to climb up either.
G.
Great climb and fantastic views from the top.
R.
Steep scramble, wouldn’t do when wet or if you have knee issues.
But overall short climb and awesome views
M.
A very cool short (but very steep) walk to an amazing view of the Southern Dargaville area

Reminded me that I am now a nanny goat not a mountain goat. But views made it worth the effort.

I found it easy to hike up but stopped short of 20 m from the summit due to wobbly legs. Im not afraid of heights. Loved the view ! The descent for me took longer as its very steep. I bum shuffled haha now i have aching quadriceps and the hike return took under 30 minutes. That will teach me for not doing warm up stretches prior to the climb.

Great spot. Not an easy walk, short but very sharp! Like a climb. If you are not keen, stop at the grassy flat- it starts really steep after that and just gets steeper and steeper. But great views.

I was proper puffed climbing to the summit take appropriate footware but the walk was great if your a little unfit like me just take your time.but its a 25 minute return trip, worth it for the views
G.
Awesome views, steep climb last 8min, but my 4 year old did it with me, so not too bad! Need to watch kids at the top, steep falls 360 degrees on the peak
S.
This is a very nice spot with a great view and it just takes about 15 min to get up.
J.
SUPER STEEP BEWARE. It will take you longer to get down due to slippery terrain.

Loved this walk up to the top of a volcano plug. Views at top are spectacular, and well worth the short, steep climb. We took a nearly 4 and nearly 5 year old with us and it was no trouble. I would suggest that you be somewhat fit and take decent walking boots, water and a camera.
M.
Great climb and view. Taking my time it was about an hour up and back. Trip down is less strenuous but more challenging. Use the footholds and a little bum shuffle if you need it coming down.
L.
A short but intense walk up this little peak will reward you with amazing views of the Kaipara district. On a fine day with no breeze it is amazingly peaceful on top and if no others are here and you have the peak to yourself...enjoy.

Extremely steep hike/climb up to the top. Wouldn't recommend doing it if it's been raining as it gets very slippery. 360 panorama from the top
R.
This is a very unassuming place when one sees the starting entry point. Only after climbing for 10 minutes one realises that it is far steeper than thought earlier. Unlike others of such height, the ascent becomes even steeper as one climbs to the top. The descent from the peak is even more difficult because of the steep rocky slopes. The views are totally out of this world. A must do if one is in the region. High fitness levels recommended though.

The view at the top is awesome but you could die visiting it because it is very steep and no railing. Not recommended for people that have acrophobia.
D.
Tokatoka Peak on clear day is absolutely brilliant! The summit gives you 360 degree views of the surrounding area at least 20 KM in every direction possible. It summarises the history of the area in a visual very well.
S.
Great views steep walk small narrow end and top not good for young kids
D.
Tough walk up, not recommended after rain. Need good boots to climb, but well worth the 360 degree views
d.
Great lookout, easy access to walking track
t.
Why not?! Short, but steep(still easy) climb well worth the 360 view!
V.
Quick steep hike, great view of the river and flatlands at the top
R.
Great walk/climb for those that don't want something that takes to long for a great view.
