Owen was our skipper, he was very knowledgeable, we pulled in some big kingies, Owen was so very helpful. We felt like kings not having to do anything apart from pull the fish in . have recommended to our friends and cant wait to do it again .

This is the best charter all of us have been on. Skipper Owen on Kaos was incredible helping the boys land some good kings and making it a day that we wont forget. Couldnt recommend Owen and Epic charters enough, will be back onboard in the future!

Epic trip. Skipper on point with a helpful attitude. We ran with it and hooked into the Kings! Nothing huge but enough for the the table. Also, Owen the captain wasn't too stressed about covering ground and we were rewarded with a little hapuku action out wide. Great to see the Mercury Island chain on the way past too and plenty of snapper. Thanks for the post lockdown cobweb clear out. Mean as.

I've done a lot of charters here and abroad and Epic are unrivalled. I just had my eighth Epic Adventure and once again I cannot fault the gear, the boats, the skippers (Owen is the man), and the dedication to landing great fish. Do it.

What a fishing day on the water with Owen on “KAOS”. Owen was just awesome right from the start catching bait fish in the bay & then carrying on out past the Mercs to Curvie Island. Landing kingfish & snapper. He had all spots covered. Just a great day with a real top bloke, well organised & with nothing being too difficult for him.

Great day of hectic fishing aboard Kaos skipper was great helped heaps. Even got us on species we hadn't caught before. Definitely go out again

Awesome time, everything we hoped it would be. Made my sons dream of a BIG kingi come true. Captain Chase worked hard all day in tough conditions to put us on the big ones. Highly recommend. The stop off to take a look at Cathederal Cove and view the snapper in the marine reserve was a nice touch. We also booked accommodation through Epic which was perfect and no hassles. Thanks EPIC, we will be back for another adventure soon.

This was our 3rd year in a row fishing with Owen. Owen is a great guy, a great fisherman and runs a very professional boat. This was a work event for a bunch of team members who love fishing. It seems that this is the highlight of their year and what they look forward to every year, so we'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Epic Adventures.

Brilliant Hooked the first Kingfish with minutes of the boat stopping on the reef 4 big Kingfish on board after 30 minutes this Skipper knows where the fish are!!

Yesterday was one off the bucket list thanks to Owen and Kaos. An Epicway to strke a bucket listbitem off. At 29 kg and a tail fluke chewed off this kingi gave me the best fight I have ever had. Hands down the bedt charter I have had in a long time. If like me you have a kingi on your bucket list then I strongly suggest you contact these folk

Amazing day out with owen on Kaos. Expert skipper and in no time we filled up the bait tank for some kingfish action. After a dozen kingfish hookups and a few shark visits, we did some snapper fishing. We went home satisfied and tired. Highly recommend a tour with epic.

Well organised, professional skipper with a great sense of humour. Excellent tidy boat. Small group was perfect, and we caught so many kingfish. An absolute bonus was being out on the water visiting the mercury islands, which are stunning. Absolutely recommend.

I have been on this charter twice @ (paihia) with captain KIT. Once with my old man the second time we booked the whole boat. Both times we walked away with massive fish :) truly lives up to the name. Only thing stopping you from having a good time is the weather. Lol 😆 fully recommend people go on this tour you won't regret it!!!!

What an awesome day!! My son and I went out with Chase and had one of our best days on the water. We caught 11 big Kingies and a couple of huge snapper. Fantastic trip out with Owen on Coro King - pretty wild water but always felt 100% safe even if a bit soaked from the odd rogue wave! Throw in some great Kingi action and who could ask for me - Owen even did the filleting back at the wharf so it was all too easy! Will definitely be back now I've got the bug for big fighting fish. Recently a had the opportunity to go fishing with Thomas Maxwell, on Mad Max2 for the second time in 2 months. Thomas is a highly rated skipper, who certainly know his business. He sure knows how to put you onto a targeted fish, what ever it maybe. The tackle that is supplied on the boat, is of high quality. It gives me and the people that go fishing with me a lot of confidence when going out with someone like Thomas. Thomas is a very skilled fishermen, and it is a pleasure to fish with a calm, relaxed man who is willing to share his knowledge.(He also enjoys a good laugh and we had plenty) I am not a part time fishermen, I get out fishing once a fortnight, (mainly on charters) so I can honestly recommend Epic Adventures MAD MAX 2 and Thomas Maxwell out of Whitianga. These guys are hilarious, knowledgeable, and damn good at catching fish. My wife and I left the boat exhausted and sore from reeling in massive snapper and king fish all day. Great trip out the Owen, who put us on the fish and made sure we where well introduced the hard fighting King fish that we have heard about. We will be re-booking again next year, bloody awesome.

What a fantastic day! Flat seas and an entertaining and great skipper (Chase) who put three mates on Kings all day. Landed approx 30 between us, up to 20kg. We're already planning the next trip home and it'll be another Epic trip for sure! Thx to Chase and the rest of the Epic team for an unforgettable day on the water.

Caught my first ever kingy aboard Coro king with Owen at the helm he was a very capable skipper also managed a PB snapper in the same day it was an experience I'll never forget hopefully I will be back again some day

If you want serious fish with incredibly talented skippers, then EPIC should be your choice. We have been lucky enough to get Owen the last two times we have been out and he has put us on big Kingies within minutes of getting outside both times. Its kind of funny watching others chasing Owen around as they struggle to find fish!!

Our day out with Epic was in fact truly ‘Epic’! Chase our skipper was impressive all around. A young skipper who seemingly out fished all the other boats in our vicinity on the day. Being a fisherman myself and seeing the way he put us on the fish and managed multiple hook ups with these beasts was amazing. 17 kingis caught on the day and we smoked 5, just enough to keep our families well feed for Christmas! As the name of the company states, it is epic, although no monsters, the fun was still epic! Fantastic captain! My go to charter!

We had a great day out with Tom on Mad Max. We headed to the bait grounds as soon as we arrived and filled the tank, then pushed out further and hooked solid kingfish almost every drop, we also pulled up a few snapper. On the way in Tom showed us around the coast, we even got to see huge snapper feeding on the surface. A fishing trip to remember and well worth the trip from Sydney!!!

Hi Roy, on Tuesday this week we had a charter with Chase. Roy it was a fantastic day not only because we caught a reasonable number if fish (Kings and snapper) but we appreciated and enjoyed being with Chase. He is a very good skipper, with the right attitude in dealing with 4 old fellas and nothing was too much trouble. He did everything with ease and with a smile. We will go our again with him. Please pass this onto Chase.

I spent 2 days with Epic and 2 different skippers. Both days they worked hard to get us fish. The 2nd day said it all, when we stopped at the bait ground and within 5 minutes had hooked up to a kingfish of about 4kgs. The look on the faces of another charter anchored beside us was priceless. They had obviously been there a while just catching bait. We hooked 4 fish at the bait ground all around the 4-5kg mark. Cannot rate the skippers Owen and Tom highly enough. Quality gear, good laughs and plenty of fish.

Had an awesome day out on Saturday with Hayden on Epic. 20 minutes to fill the live bait tanks, then off to Spot X where we landed over 20 Kingy's up to 18Kg. Loads more hook ups. An awesome day out and 3 days later my arms are still aching from all the hard work. Thanks Hayden and Epic, will see you again soon. Paul, Andy and Richard

Chase is a very good captain and knows where to find fish. We caught a load of Kingfish pigs.

Booked 3 days with these guys and first 2 were cancelled due to bad weather, however, we were able to make alternative arrangements and extend our trip. Spent day 1 fishing with Chris at the Anglers Lodge for snapper where my boyfriend caught 2 huge snapper. 1st one caught on the first drop, also had some fun trying to hook up to some kingies which were around. Chris gave us a good laugh and found us a good spot to fish in despite the windy weather and choppy swell. We didn't plan on going snapper fishing but we are glad that we got the opportunity to with such an attentive skipper and would recommend it. Railed by a "rat!" Day 2 was spent with Tom on Mad Max 2 and boy does this skipper work hard to get you onto a fish. We spent the first half of the day trolling for Marlin and the second half fishing for kingfish. Tom would continually strive to find you bigger fish than the last spot you were in - would definitely recommend him. Day 3 was spent with Owen on Coroking and he made accommodations for us to start slightly earlier for the day as we had to leave early. Learnt a whole bunch off him which we could put back into practice when fishing back home. Our lucky last troll for the day caught my bf a big fat 24kg kegger of a specimen. Would also like to thank Rory and Jen for keeping us well informed in regards to what was happening with our trip days and for organising the snapper fishing trip at Anglers Lodge at such late notice. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later! Hopefully without the seasickness for me!

The best fishing adventure ever! Owen and the Koro king are a truly professional setup! From putting us ontop of the fish everytime to providing us with an up to date boat and gear! "Truly EPIC!"

My 11yo son and I had more than an EPIC adventure aboard with Skipper Owen out of Whitianga, Coromandel, NZ. We got to land and keep our first ever Kingfish catches ever! My first was unbelievably caught whilst livebait catching on a Sabiki Jig!! My only worry was not losing my son overboard when a decent Kingie hit. Together we could not make and ground and lost it to the reef. Oh well, kingies and snapper fillets to bring back home will spread the joy amongst family and friends back home in Australia. This will have to be an annual event. Looking forward to trying some overnight trips! Thanks once again epic adventures and Emily in the office for getting all the paperwork done.

Great experience, they guys made a huge effort

If you like catching Kingfish and lots of them, go with these guys and get your arms stretched. Technique is livebaiting yellowtail scad in anywhere from 50 -90m of water, jigging can be done as well. Models are around the high teens to mid 20kg mark, and if they are on there's lots of them! Snapper, Hapuka and Bass are in the mix as well. Hayden and Owen are both excellent skippers with fast boats, all gear is top notch Shimano Stellas/Talica/Ocea Jigger. Highly recommended!
