S.
Such a peaceful and relaxing place to come in the mornings, clean and beautiful beach.
Just be aware of the high tides!
C.
Great place to visit, it’s really hot, some of them are really too hot.
You can rent a shovel for 10$ and 10$ deposit.
Just keep in mind, just start digging when you really feel a warm stream in the sand.
If you start digging at its not getting hot after the first centimeters, it never will.
I made the same mistake and did it for around 40 minutes, it was a nice pool, but cold;)
So walk down the beach, you will feel it when you walk over the sand, the sand is really hot, so that’s the place to start.
R.
Great place! Go there during low tide to make hot water pool. Don't forget to carry a spade to dig a hole.
L.
Head down in low tide and dig yourself a hot pool. Find the stream location and start you hole just off it but make sure to not burn yourself. You’ll need to bring a shovel and if low tide is around sunset, make sure to bring a small torch.
B.
Very unique beach to make hot bath for yourself. When I was there in summer season, there were so many people and crowded. For parking, it is quite busy. My kid enjoy making the hot bath.
Besides that, it is also quite beautiful and spacious beach. So if you want to just enjoy as normal beach, it can be recommended.
A.
Hot Water Beach must be one if the best white sand beaches in the world. Fantastic surf, great swimming and as the name suggests hot water coming up from the sand. Just remember it's only there on low tide. Plenty to do, great cafes and camp grounds and the legendary Hahei and Cathedral Cove minutes away by car.
S.
Awesome beach to visit but the best time is low tide so you can get to the hotsprings so plan your trip.
C.
Lots of space in the carpark and toilets too, make sure to get to low tide in the morning when its quieter, its only a 5 minute walk to the beach from the carpark! and you might be lucky to catch a beautiful sunrise over the river on the walk to the beach!
B.
The main car park that services hot water beach. It is reasonably sized but expect it to be often or near full during the peak season. There are the usual toilets and showers here and parking is metered/pay & display 24hrs so don't forget to buy a ticket. There is an eatery/shop here too where you can get your lunch and hire/buy a shovel to go dig a hole on the beach. You could possible get away with parking on the other side of the road which is supposed to be for Artspace customers.
S.
This is one of the few times I have come across pay and display car parks at the coast in NZ. We parked on a dirt car park and walked into the village. On the way we hired a spade for $5NZ, with a $20NZ deposit. Further in, they were hiring at the same price but no deposit.
The beach is well provided for in terms of showers, loos and life guards. A short walk along the beach you can see people furiously digging their hollows in the sand to a depth where there is water. Some high up the beach, and others low down. We sampled a few abandoned pits to find cool or tepid water in them. We were beginning to think this was a con. So I set about digging my own pool a few meters up from the water line, but inline with some rocks in the sea. I was soon down to the water-level and…..it was hot; so hot I could barely put my foot in for a second. We abandoned this one, and moved forward to the water’s edge. Here I could mix the cold sea water with the water in the sand to get a reasonable temperature. R was entertained by people asking if they could try our first pool and then shrieking with pain & surprise. It was rather like putting your feet in boiling water and having your ankles drop off. My first pool was judged the hottest on the beach. R thought the whole thing was rather like a male bird building an exquisite nest to attract mates.
I also swam on the beach. There was a lovely surf for body surfing on. Very refreshing.
B.
Went there it was raining and cold. 3 people on the beach, dipped my feet in one of these already dug hole for 5 minutes and then left. It was great. But would definitely not do it during summer time with all the tourist
S.
New Zealand has lots of geothermal resources. The Hot Water Beach was a great place to enjoy a free natural jacuzzi. All you need to do is to dig under the sand and you will have hot water for a nice bath. You can rent a shovel there. Highly recommended for a visit.
C.
Sadly the waves were too large and a recent swell had sucked a meter of sand off the beach meaning no hot paddling for us. We did find a hot spring but no point using spades.
The first carpark is free and a short walk. The others seem to be pay parks but closer.
M.
Very good beach but if you want to park next to the beach you have to pay. Waves are very good for boogie boarding.
J.
nice place to relax. you can make your own hot pool. for a good experience you need: shovel and a bucket. a shovel for dig a hole and the bucket to carry cold water from the ocean to cool the hot water. i think that only the hot water is to hot. shovels you can rent there. we paid only 5 nz dollars. the for that is okay. the experience is only possible during the ebb. because of that you have to check the low tide times.
R.
Good and tidy beach, please visit this place in low tide to enjoy hot water experience.
R.
Something new to experience. How that cold water becomes so hot because of that hot sand and you can relax and get relief from your stressful daily life.
L.
Park here during low tides and walk to the hotwater springs! The car park is chargeable (self payment system) with picnic tables, toilet and shower facilities available for anyone to use. Pretty cool!
K.
The most beautiful beach I've ever been too!!! Stunning views and the sand is perfect walking through the ocean ❤️❤️
d.
It was a cloudy day but we (family of 6) had a great time digging our hot pool.
S.
Didn't bother with digging a hole. But great sandy beach. It isn't as silky soft as I have experienced but very close. Pay parking is a bit of a put off though i can see when it gets busy that would help keep numbers down and motor home ban - again I can see why.
D.
Grab a shovel and go dig a hole and make your own hot spa,,, fantastic place
T.
What a surprise. I didn’t expect the sand to be that hot. But you can totally get a hot bath in winter. Bring a shovel and dig yourself a bathtub.
K.
My kids enjoy here so much.
A.
The Hot Water Beach is unique. We could feel in the same time hot and cold power of ocean and sand. Definitely worth to do it. We could relax in the water and watch the ocean. Before you go there check the time when you can build the whole for your private SPA, I mean high and low tide.
D.
Take a spade or two and a bucket to add cold water from the sea to get the temp just right. Had a blast!
A.
This is such a fun place to visit, beautiful beach and fun to dig your own hot pool, go down beach between the rocks, wait for the tide to go out quite a bit, or else the waves knock the walls of your pool down. You can rent a spade at local store.
J.
A great experience to bath in the Hot Water but parking difficulties for the campervan and masses of people
P.
Great beach. Good for family and surf.
S.
Although the beach was very crowded..We did have a great time here..Get a shovel and start digging your own pit.. the water is over 70 degrees in some places. So make sure you find a spot(if u get one) where the water is hot and pleasant. Make sure u check the time for the low tide before getting there.
r.
Nice place have to go back again sometime soon
F.
Special to cook your food in the surf of the sea. Also crazy to see that everyone is in a small spot of such a big beach. Tip: Buy your shovel at the do it yourself warehouse, cheaper than renting for a day at the beach.
A.
Such a stunning natural phenomena. Make sure to visit during low tide as the beach is not accessible when the tidr is high. Water can be super hot so be careful not to burn yourself. Make sure go take a shovel so you can dig a pool to have some fun. Love it!
L.
amazing beach, the water is so nice and warm compared to the outside temperature on a hot day in NZ's summer. a big beach with lots of room to spread your legs, i personally didn't go 2 hrs either side of low tide to dig up the hot water under the sand- i went mainly for the experience of place. the swells are sensational and so much fun. 100 percent recommend this beach
C.
Beautiful landscape. You can enjoy a lot. .
L.
Hot Water Beach is pretty incredible! It is amazing how hot the water is underneath the sand! I strongly recommend visiting here, even if it’s just for 10 minutes! Sadly in the summer it gets extremely busy and is pretty gross to think you’re bathing in other people’s hot bath water essentially. Don’t forget to bring your spade and sun block!
A.
Choose your time to visit wisely because this place is PACKED with tourists (myself included of course).
Overall, my experience of the hot pools was pretty rubbish, the water was either BOILING hot or too cold and all the good spots were already taken.
Maybe I'm a little more picky than most, but I'd choose a nice hot pool spa over sitting in the sand anyday!
M.
Great place to visit! Make sure you take a spade because it makes digging your hole easier. However you can still make a nice hot pool with your hands too. It's a shame the main parking and pay and display but you can find other parking spots for free.
G.
Very nice place, amazing beach
C.
Great beach, easy to access and not a long way off the main road. We visited in winter and you could easily manage to arrive 2 hours before low tide and find a place to dig a pool as long as you know where to dig (this becomes apparent, the beach is steaming and the sand is hot, if you are barefoot this won't be a problem). You do have to cross a shallow stream to get to the beach so removing shoes and socks is a good plan. If you've forgotten your spade you can hire a robust one for $10 from the art gallery near the beach, the money from which goes to charity so you've made that day's contribution! We've been three days running due to the tides being at good times for us and planning one more visit before we leave!
D.
Came during winter, chilling winds with rain. Almost backed out and didn't give it a go. Glad I went though. Hot Water Beach, it is definitely hot, go 2 hours before and after low tide only, follow the crowds and remember to bring a spade. I was kept extremely warm from the spring, and it was also a load of fun, bringing back child hood memories of making sand castles on the beach. Hot Tip: right in the middle of the hot spot, it is scorching hot, best way to dig a hole is furthest away from the water, where it is both hot and cold.
T.
Nice and relaxing place to bring the whole family
K.
What a GREAT Kiwi experience!!
I cannot begin to tell you how awesome and exciting it is to view and visit this beach. Of course if you aren't aware the reason they call it Hot Water Beach is because there is a thermal river that runs under a certain part of the beach and because of that you can use a shovel, (Don't use your hands!! Trust me!!) and the water the fills your area is VERY HOT!! It ranges but is usually around 32 Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) but its plenty warm!
When I first walked up to this beach it was filled with families, kids running round and lots of tourists all trying to get a spot on the beach. These spots fill up pretty fast during the afternoon.
You can rent a shovel for $2 at the small store that's located at the parking lot. Also take note that this is a few places in New Zealand that has metered parking so parking is a bit harder to find but there is I believe one of two parking lots before this spot that are free. If not then just park on the road.
Also if you aren't aware this beach is known for a strong under current so please swim safety and DO NOT go in beyond your waste. Life guards constantly are on alert for those who aren't aware of the strong rip currents here and get pulled out to sea.
I loved this place and cannot wait to go back!

Interesting and one of its kind place in the region.
Enjoyed visiting and digging our hot water pool. You can either hire a spade to dig your own pool or wait for one to be available when someone leaves.
Soft sand beach. Always busy and crowded.
You should plan visiting this place one hour in advance of low tide wave to have best experience and to have enough time to spend in hot water.
Given the popularity of this place, the way it is highlighted as one of the must-visit places in Coro and amount of crowd it attracts, it could have been maintained in much better way.
Ample parking space and parking is paid for most of the space. Wheelchair parking is available and there is wheelchair accessible entrance.
T.
Quite crowded, hot water beneath the sand was outstanding. The beach itself is okay.
B.
Amazing place. Very memorable spot and awesome to bring family and friends. However when I went there was a limited amount of life guards on duty, and the service was poor. I watched an old man struggle to swim back to shore in a rip, as the lifeguards sat on their seats and did nothing. Overall a great place but be mindful that it's not 100% safe. Limited amount of cheap food available to eat at the beach as well, so bring and pack your own food to save money. They have a little cafe on the Shore which is nice but overpriced for what they serve.
N.
This place is amazing, the beach is perfect for families, couples and groups wanting a day out at the beach. Good surf as well as good casual swimming.
Best part is dig half a meter down and you have warm water to soak in.
W.
Amazing place be careful of burning bottom feet
J.
Simply brilliant. At its best 2 hours either side of low tide. You have to walk a little way down the beach then just dig!
The closer to the water you dig, the faster you'll find hot water
V.
This beach is decidedly enjoyable & a good "hands-on" experience.
Dig your own hole in the sand, let it fill with warm water, lie in it & luxuriate!
Failing that, usurp an existing one recently vacated, & make it your own.
Many people get all serious & bring spades etc., but hands are perfectly adequate & cost nothing.
...speaking of which, don't feel you have to pay for the carpark & then trek to the beach...Try driving further, get closer, & you may score a freebie! (It is quite possible.)
Some times of day are better than others, what with tides & all.
K.
The trick is to find a bit of the geothermal pool and mix with cooler water. If you hit a hot spot take a half step any way and dig. Don't have to go 2 hrs before. We went just when is low tide.
A.
Awesome place! You need to go further down the beach past the lifeguard where the rocks are and stand where tide comes in (at low tide) dig a little to feel the hot water. We just used our feet to dig in and was amazed by how hot it was!
G.
Ok, it's a bit hokey, sitting in sandy water with 200 other people fighting to dig holes in the sand.. but you have to try it to understand. The feeling when you arrive at hot water.. and then a wave comes in. Well worth it. If you can arrange to be two hours or less either side of low tides it's best. If that's happens to be sunrise sunset or outside of school holidays so much the better.
S.
Great spot with very hot water coming up through the sand on low tide.
Local business rent shovels to dig baths so you can soak in the hot water.
This unique beach is worth a stop if you're in the area. Can be busy though, even during winter.
C.
Great experience! If the low tide time is 12, you should be there at 10 or earlier to get a free parking spot and start picking the right spot and digging. Not good shower facilities around though. Can only do a quick rinse.
S.
What impresses the most is the landscape of the beach itself, because on hot water, it is only in a very small and specific place in the sand, where many people accumulate at the same time, to dig the water under the sand, then you you’ll find the hot water, I didn’t find it very interesting, not to mention that you can’t really enjoy the local appeal, because it’s crowded with people.
O.
A great natural phenomenon. Be careful not to burn your bum, as the water gets really hot in some spots. Make sure you bring a shovel. Otherwise it takes a long time to dig you private spa. Just to inform you, you'll have the sand everywhere and especially in spots where it's not supposed to be. 😅
D.
Amazing must go to beach. Quite picturesque. Great place to take the kids for a holiday or weekend. Taking a shovel a must if you want to relax in a hot pool in the sand. There are lots of people all day long so it can get crowded. But a very beautiful beach.
N.
I'm pretty sure this is unique, you can dig your own hot pools on the beach. Aim for the area between the rock behind the beach with a sign on and the two rocks in the sea. Arrive a couple of hours before low tide with your shovel and start digging!
m.
Rent the shovel or bring your own. Remember to create stream tunnel for the sea water as the got water could be really got at times! Do check the schedule of the tide or you'll miss out! Convenient shower heads nearby parking lot
A.
The beach is unique in its own way and the only beach which has hot water springs coming out of shore. To find one you have to dig it using spead (available for $5 near the beach). The experience is worth it. Best time to go is during low tide so have a look at the tide schedule before you plan your trip. The parking is limited and paid.
R.
An interesting phenomena, both sociology standpoint and from a natural standpoint. If you are actually expecting to sit in a relaxing hot tub, this may not be the most relaxing hot tub. There's a lot of digging involved. There are also only two good spots that have decent hot water seeping through (at the two rocky points coming out towards the water).
k.
Great for digging in sand at low tide and walking along beach but too scary to swim. Rips, holes, dumping surf. Beautiful to look at though. Watch out for killer sand fleas in November. Some excellent shops and cafes
T.
A wonderful place to experience some of nz's unique beaches. Parking is limited at the end of the main road. There is a car park before the bridge which I would suggest finding an easy car park. Remember to pack a shovel so you are able to dig a hole as well as check tide levels. The best time is low tide. Also be prepared to be amongst the crowds as it is a popular tourist attraction to do.
V.
Very unique experience. Watch out for low tide timings on the day you visit. Don't bother digging unless you've got a good spot. Just enjoy the warmth by making yourself comfortable on the beach..
P.
Bring a spade and dig your own hole, it's worth the effort. Visit within 2 hours either side of low tide. You might be lucky enough to nab a vacant hole near the end of the two hour window but the guilt of sitting in those holes without digging them will haunt you as you look around at the other people relaxing in their holes after their own hard work.
E.
Make sure you go at high tide! Rent a shovel and build yourself a hot bath
L.
Nice beach. I arrived at the wrong time not knowing you had to be there within a set range. 2 hours before or after low tide. I strongly suggest finding out before you go. There's lots of windy roads to get there. There is ample parking and showers for free use out side. Also there are bathrooms which are clean and modern to use.
Z.
We can dig our own geothermal hot pool in one of the world's largest sandboxes! Digging our own personal spa bath in the sand is an unique kiwi experience we need to try at least once!
J.
I love this face but be prepared it is infested with tourists. Important to bring your shovel.and energy to.work it. Parking is now charged for. That is understandable though would be nice to see a little more for what they charge.
Definitely a must do on the Coromandel.
W.
I recommended going to the hot pools during winter, especially at night as you'll appreciate the hot pools more when it's cold. Also it's way less busy compared to summer when it's totally packed with tourists and you'll be hard pressed to find a pool for yourself.
H.
It is a "Must - Do" when you visit the Coromandel Region! Keep in mind that you have to obey high and low tide as the latter one is necessary to get to the hot spot.
You also don't need to rent a shovel. Once you get to the spot you will find dozens of shovels of the other people...
f.
Make sure you check the tide timings before you visit. Two hours on either side of low tide is ideal. You may even consider bringing a shovel to dig your own private spa-pool 🏖️
N.
One of earth's wonders that I couldn't quite believe was real until you get there, start digging and feel the scorching water rise up through the sand. Truly incredible. A heavy duty shovel is needed though.
T.
Great experience. Check the tides charts. You need it to be low tide to be able to bath in the hot water. It's a nice beach for a walk if you're there early.
D.
We got there 2 hours before low tide. It was very easy to dig down to find hot water. Lots of people enjoying it. What a beautiful beach also.
J.
Came here in the middle of winter on a perfect day and it was awesome. Kids swam in the sea and we all enjoyed the hot pools. Great kiwi experience.
Y.
Interesting to see a hot water geezer so close to the beach. You have to dig through the top sand layer but water temp is amazingly hot.
G.
Amazing beach, specially in low tide.
N.
Instructions!
1: Get a showel, sometimes you can borrow for a small fee (not open when we were there)
2: Get info on when the tide is low. Head there at low tide.
3: About 300m North of the parking, dig a hole on the beach, dig quite close to the shoreline and build a wall facing the sea.
4: Sit and relax!
R.
Either be early or be friendly and buddy into someone elses hole - be warned can get VERY hot
A.
The weather was like hell when we were at the beach, anyway, people were so high in their “cold water” self-dug pools!😦🌧💨🌊
E.
Exactly what you might expect it to be, although a little crowded on the area of the beach where you can dig your hot water pool. Shovel/spade hire costs $5 from hotties and they do ask for a deposit of $20.
J.
It was overcast and a little windy, our hole we found wasn't that big but the 8 of us managed to fit somehow. My first thought while sitting in this nice warm water? Totally worth it.
J.
It is as described in various travel sites. Much better to share a larger hole dug for multiple people. Pay attention because some areas are quite hot, and others have no hot water at all.
S.
Fantastic beach to visit to experience thermal water bubbling up from the sand. Best to visit 2 hours either side of low tide so make sure you check the local tides before visiting.
D.
Very cool beach. Water and weather was perfect. Even got to try my hands in digging my own spot in the hot beach. Only negative was I lost my $500 prescription glasses to the ocean. Damn you Poseidon!!
J.
Aside from the many people here it was really nice. The facilities they have are very well set out accommodating to many. The only thing I found annoying was the 24hour pay and display carpark right in front of the beach. I have never been to the beach where there was a pay and display carpark.
J.
Great place for a swim if you're a crazy tourist who wants to drown. Be careful when the surf is big! Good safe swimming in the river for kids.
J.
We went just as the tide was coming in but definitely found hot water and enjoyed our time here. The beach itself is still gorgeous and fun to explore
J.
One of the most beautiful spots in the world. Was lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins playing in the waves super close to the shore. Stunning.
S.
Although you can borrow shovels, please try to bring your own as it is quite tricky to find the right spot.
IMPORTANT: Check for the low tide times for the day.
P.
Unique experience, quite amazing. Dig a pool at low tide and very hot water fills it. Of course you must be at the right spot. I was there early because it can get quite crowded.
P.
Need to check for low tide, the water is not hot at high tide
M.
Great location to relax, dig a hole, and enjoy the hot water. People said that you can only get hot water at certain times, but we went at different hours and it was still hot.
I.
WE had fun. You need to figure out where to dig though. Water comes out really hot and gets suddenly cold when a wave comes, so it is a really funny and interesting place to see. Give it a try.
V.
All the fuss about the hot water ....digging huge holes in the sand to get to it.....not for me.
But.....it is an awesome beach if you move away from the buzz and just enjoy the sand and the sea.
T.
Basicly a beach where you can make your own hotpools! just take a spat with you and dig...or go close to the waterline and dig a bit with your feet...should work to. But be warned its burning hot sometimes.
S.
Fun for a group to dig up sand to get to that hot sand and warms up the water under your feet. We even had steam :) good to take a shovel
A.
Very crowded in the hot water area but If you go at night it's not so bad. The rest of the beach however was great!
F.
A very popular beach - arrive early to get parking within easy walking. The hot water phenomenon is a very pleasurable experience.
L.
Amazing! Went here and it was thunder and lightening. Still had a fantastic time and made the hot water stream even more enjoyable. Beauty of a place!
J.
Parking right in front of the Hot Water Beach is difficult, so try parking a few hundred meters back, where spots for larger vehicles are easily available.
B.
Fantastic. Don't hire a spade borrow one. Better still, take over "the lease" of a vacant pool!! Hot water means hot water.
V.
Don't miss this -- it's so cool (pun intended!) to mix the cook ocean water with the warm hot springs. Absolutely incredible beach.
W.
Must get in early or be lucky to get a spot near the hot water. The beach is very large but only a small area of the beach has the famous hot water.
D.
It's pretty cool but so crowded even on a cloudy day. Water was a lot hotter than I was expecting you definitely need a shovel
t.
Dig a hole and enjoy your spa under the sun
A.
As the name of the place, it has a spot on the bench that has hot water rise below the sand, dig (bring your own spade or hire from the shops by the bench) a pool, bath yourself ..... Enjoy.
L.
Absolutely love this place. Such a beautiful atmosphere.
K.
Beautiful place but the hot water part is well over rated
F.
Amazing place. Hire a shovel, dig a hole in the sand and relax with your family. But be careful with the tide. It can be dangerous sometimes.
H.
Very nice, but quite crowded.
Tip tip: if its busy, don't rent a shovel as there will be loads there. Just ask to borrow one for 2 minutes.
S.
We had the time of our lives. We went at night. And made the most of the night under stars.
M.
The place is great but you need to be early to book your place in the good area, where warm water comes out. Great social experience as well
M.
First time experiencing such a thing! Bring a shovel and do as the locals do. Make sure you go during the low tide or otherwise it will just be another regular beach.
J.
Great spot. Bring a shovel so you can dig your own jacuzzi. Parking is expensive and make sure you get your timing right.
S.
Really amazing. Go during low tide! Dig your feet in around the rocks in the water toward the middle of the beach.
J.
There is too much people and you have to rent a shovel to dig a hole :/
But be careful the water is so hot (60°)
H.
You can dig your own little hot spa right on the beach. Very unique experience. Remember to bring a shovel.
O.
I didn't really see anything special about this place. Yes you can dig a hole and have hot water but that's about it.
N.
Such a great day out! Go down at low tide, take something to dig with, and create the most elaborate natural hot springs ever seen...
M.
Great facilities here. Hot Water beach is a rare gem
T.
Great beach. Go early when low tide and if no room to dig just wait till someone leaves. Very busy place.
D.
Really fun place to go. Bring or rent a spade and dig your own hot pool. Like a big party in a sandpit.
S.
Make sure you bring a shovel and go in the afternoon when the tide goes out! Pretty scenic beach as well.
D.
Amazing place very cool !
All you need to do is get a shovel at low tide and enjoy the hot water !
Keep New - Zealand CLEAN !
K.
Exciting experience
You can get hot water sauna when you wet.
Take saw before you go there.
S.
Low tide in front of the rocks, sitting in a sand hole filled with naturally hot salt water with friends enjoying a summer evening.
N.
Waiooo , you can't forget it's taste. You need ti pray and wait for lower tides to enjoy hot water. Amazing view.
S.
Fantastic beach and dig your own spa.. go in atleast 3 hrs prior low tide.. to find a good spot with hot water..
J.
Funny experience! Dig your own hot pool and have an amazing view of the sea. Shovels are available there.
K.
This should be on everyone's bucket list. A really awesome family day out. Amazing it is still free. A must visit!
H.
A truly novel experience digging a warm pool outdoors. A bit of trial and error is needed to find a temperature that suits.
V.
It actually has hot water beneath it's sand..go with a shovel and enjoy the hot water under the cool breeze...
K.
Beach itself is great. But hot water feature during low tide is too crowded. Hard to enjoy.
P.
Fun place to go and enjoy the hot water. Make sure you come around low tide as this is the only time it works.
A.
So packed, but nice for a swim. Not so hot today so not the warmest. Could not dig anywhere to make little hot pool so that was disappointing.
K.
Had to dig but was nice after 7th try... was a worker though... went there late afternoon so wasn't too crowded.
B.
Amazing place I'd been in NZ
M.
Great beach where you can dig to have hot water, bring your spade if you don't want to spend $5 to rent one
W.
Nice. But was unlucky to not be able to do the hot springs with our shovels.
f.
Amazing be on the beach, find your spot with hot water dig it and remember to go during low tide!
H.
Quite busy at times, but still a nice place with fantastic hot water on the beach.
M.
Still a good place to go for holiday, parking is no longer free, but they did some upgrade around the place, so make sense.
W.
Excellent and well worth a visit x the hot water pools are excellent.
Disappointed the cafe was shut despite claiming it was open 7 days a week?
r.
It is a nice place. You get natural hot water just in the shore. people are sitting in that
K.
It's a beach, with hot water. Under the ground. What is not to like? They even have shovels for rent!
I.
Amazing place to have fun with kids
R.
stunning beautiful beach
T.
Remember to bring your shovel
F.

(Translated) Hey everyone, pay attention to the phase of the moon. If it's daytime, the moon will be on top of your head. It's basically impossible to soak. It is recommended that you run around the fifteenth. It will be better. The nearby holiday park can rent a shovel for $25. Knife rental shovel is not bad

(Translated) Coromandel without Hot Water Beach is not possible. Even without the overseas tourists, it was very busy in one afternoon. When it was evening a few days earlier, only a handful of people were there. It just depends on the time when you visit the beach. In the afternoon there are of course a lot of families out and about, and if the tides work, you have to expect a high rush. But mostly you can always find a place for your pool. So it is important to find out about the tide beforehand, the hot springs are only accessible when the water is low and don't forget your spade.
(Original)

(Translated) Really warm water comes out.
If you want to get a shovel and sell it yourself, but you want to feel lightly
You can feel the warm water as you go into the hole that others dig and leave and dig your feet with your feet.
If you choose the right location, you can feel hot water that is beyond warmth.
The free shared shower makes it easy to remove dirt and salt water after playing.

(Translated) Shovel bought from The Wherehouse for $ 12, otherwise you can rent one on the spot for about the same amount. Once on the beach, 2 hours before the low tide (be careful otherwise you will find the outlet of the hot spring submerged by the sea), dig in front of a rocky area where the water is warm. To understand where to dig, put your feet in to feel if the water is hot and dig your natural pool;) Absolutely to do .. especially on starry winter nights!
(Original)

(Translated) Went on the recommendation of the owners of the hotel where they stayed, from Cambridge, looking for a place with warm water where you could still bathe. Very beautiful, picturesque place, were in April. The weather was still great. You can park, but the roads are quite narrow. At first, they didn't understand why everyone was shoveling, they came closer to most people who rallied and understood :) they were digging holes and dangling in them (it looked very funny), which were immediately filled with water, though they were far from the water. Thermal waters coming from under the sand, that's why this place was named. When tried to touch - the water is quite warm and comfortable. The ocean was stormy, so rescuers did not let anyone bathe. Quite an interesting and colorful place, but far enough where we are located.
(Original)
