A.I cannot recommend this place enough! The location was central and perfect for our lengthy drive through the south. We stayed on 16/12, Dennis is the most charismatic camp owner I've ever met, very passionate, it made me want to stay longer. Facilities were clean, tidy and well maintained. The grounds has everything you could need, you'll be attached to the common area. Absolutely stunning, would love to stay again! :)
U.Lovely campground. Dennis was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We arrived on bikes and were going to put up our tent when he offered us an already set up, larger tent. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Dennis! We would definitely stay again 😊

J.Arrived back from 3 day trip through the Catlins - this camp ground ranks as one of the tidiest, friendliest, knowledgeable, fully serviced campgrounds in NZ AND very quiet but so close to CBD.
The free, unlimited showers are superhot and have really good pressue and best of all clean. Good size kitchen and lounge area.
Cannot applaud it enough and a great discounted price for NZMCA members.

The grounds are average, no obvious play structure for kids, but the camping area was a pretty good size for the place.
The kitchen and group area was very nice, organized and labeled, with good cozy couches and dining tables.

The new owners are the best we have came across and bennt over backwards to help.
Even with 8 of us they found room and looked after the kids. They are upgrading bits and bobs but it is a friendly, safe, happy place....
If they'll have us back we will be back...

M.Thinking about the Catlins? It is imperative you stop here first!! At reception I received a detailed map of the area, shared the amount of time I had for the tour and was given recommended stops circled in pen for along the way. Very informative, and equally friendly. I arrived late which wasn't a problem at all, it was very accommodating, thank you :)
Even if not doing the Catlins I firmly believe its worth coming here for a visit. DO IT 😁👍
*Note, sorry don't have any photos of the place. It's the people that make this place so accommodating. They have all the facilities, the grounds and bathroom are tidy, kitchen and lounge open 24/7

p.I only a briefly stayed at the Balclutha Motor Camp, but from the moment I picked up the phone to speak to Dennis, I could feel the warmth and the passion that he has for providing a good service. The camp is well laid out very clean and tidy with great community facilities.I would highly recommend the Balclutha Motor Camp for short or long stay.
T.Very delightful place apart from the two elderly residents sitting outside the toilet/shower/kitchen/laundry block smoking!! Showers are too good and need to be turned down further, so powerful that they would push a small child over....lol, seriously they were amazing the showers. Wee shub bath for little ones, great atmosphere in the kitchen with everyone doing their own thing, just lovely. But the smokers really need to go elsewhere sorry, that was the only down fall for me.
B.Stayed for one night in a cabin, was a great experience overall. Facilities was very clean and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with everything. John who runs the camp ground was extremely lovely in making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would highly recommend staying here!!

E.Exceptionally tidy and clean motor camp, great for our motorhome that only required a powered site. Our boys loved the large grassed area and playground at the back. Suprisingly there were some bird enclosures next to the play ground that the boys really enjoyed. Owner and his staff really put effort in maintaining the facilities.

G.Really nice campground, lot of space if you don't have a car, nice people too, I went for one night bit end up staying another one, clean facilities, good showers, full equipped kitchen with modern accessories, and good common room if you get stucked by the rain. Friendly and relaxed owner. Laundry and dryer for $3 each.

B.Non-smokers may want to look elsewhere. The owner and the long-term residents all smoke constantly right outside of the facilities, even occasionally taking their lit cigarettes into the rooms. The result is that the kitchen and bathrooms all reek of smoke, and you are sometimes forced to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to these rooms.
The people are friendly, the gardens are quite nice, and the kitchen is actually very well equipped, but all of this is ruined by the smoking.

A.A wonderful cosy camp. Dog friendlly. Fully equipped kitchen, tidy facilities, and oh the shower pressure! A play park, duck pond bird averiers and lesure walking entrance back on to camp with access from camp. Reasonably priced. Amanda was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome giving us a grand tour when we arrived. We will definitely not hesitate to stay here again.
