A beautiful sunny space overlooking the mighty Waikato River......great place for drinking our takeaway coffees

This is a park in the middle of Victoria street that looks over the river. Nice place to come for a takeaway coffee or lunch with a great view over the river. There’s a Vietnamese restaurant and also me pickles looks over the park, although seems an empty space on the other side where the hair clinic is, they should consider putting a cafe or something similar there. Nice place to chill, but not really for the kids, more and adult space.

Ramps, stairs and terraces with seats and benches are cascading down to the river foot path creating a unique transition from Victoria Street to the river. A beautiful link between the city and the Mighty Waikato. With coffee shops in sight there's no better place to take a break.

Absolutely fantastic facility. Stunning plantings as well. The landscape architects deserve a medal. Unlike the ones who did Ward Street!

One of my absolute favourite spots in Hamilton! Such an awesome space to sit and read, have your coffee, listen to music, or just chill.

Fantastic place to hang out during your lunch break or just somewhere to chill. Awesome layout/design, feels like an inclusive place for the inner city.

Victoria on the River is an expansive amphitheatre-style park on Victoria St, in the heart of Hamilton’s central business district. Offering fantastic views of the Waikato River and connections to the city’s popular river path network - popular with cyclists, walkers and runners - Victoria on the River (VOTR for short) formally opened on 25 January 2018. VOTR is a major project as part of the Council's Central City Transformation Plan. Hamilton City Council purchased the 4769p sqm site – previously occupied by the Waikato Times - in 2009, and committed the funding to VOTR in late 2015. Construction began in April 2017 after more than 6300 cubic metres of contaminated material was removed from the site. More than 9000 plants give it a green and organic feel and blend with adjacent Waikato River natural landscapes.

Very pretty and why not grab a coffee at the near buy cafe.

What a stunning public space in the middle of the cbd, with access to the river walks and plenty of seating space to chill and take a break or eat your lunch. Looks even more amazing at night lighted up. Hcc needs to grab hold of this and run with it, build on it and make the river a part of a city.

Such an awesome spot to chill with some food from nearby eateries, and if there is some music on a fantastic show while the sun sets

I will make this one of my top ten favorite places in Hamilton. Surrounded by great wall paintings on three sides, it also has a great view of the river and a very special bookstore nearby.

Peaceful, quiet, great place to sit & chill. I'd recommend going on a sunny day, don't forget to take a hat to cover your face from sunburn, otherwise don't forget your sunblock. There is also a riverside walk way you can take if you're feeling like fresh air. & sometimes they have people singing, so you can also catch free entertainment sometimes.

Good place to have time out on your own or have lunch with a friend. The view is algoods and so is the seating. Even though in the middle of town, it is quiet and peaceful there.

Such a tranquil place. I visit almost every day / night.

Really enjoyed our evening watching the Shakespeare play. Great environment albeit difficult to hear the actors as they did not have microphones. Relaxed environment and so relaxing to look out and watch the Waikato River. Conveniently located in central Hamilton CBD.

one of the only attractions in town at the moment. this public space is brilliant, and to think it used to be a crumbling car park!

Beautiful views on a beautiful day! Spacious & ample places to sit & be on your own. Surrounding cafes - superb spot!

Great little hidden gem right on Victoria St! Would be great if there was a little more signage around but otherwise it is a positive addition to Hamilton.
