Tidy campground, clean bathrooms, serene locality (just by the lake), close to all shops and affordable!
If you are planning to camp in and around Waikato, do consider this place.

Beautiful little camp ground!!! Staff are awesome, super nice and extra accommodating!!! Excellent facilities, lovely and clean and a very well equipped kitchen. Nice peaceful spot right on the lake...lots o locals walk the track each day and all are so friendly. Dog friendly all year round, dog activity parks 2 min walk along the lakeside. I've camped in many places, this nice camp ground is definitely up the top of the ladder for me. LOVE IT!! Thanks Ben n Co 💜⚘😎

Amazing little spot. Great views and clean facilities.

We called and the office was closed, and the woman who answered was quite curt in letting us know they had already closed. We were in Hamilton and it was our last night in New Zealand and I had forgotten to book a place to stay (we were in a campervan). We drove to the Hamilton holiday park to see if we could just pull in and stay the night and pay in the morning (as we had per the manager's advice in Kaiteri Beach), but there was a gate. We called all the local motels and holiday parks, and they were all closed.
My fiance was really frustrated and tired (he was the one driving all day, and it was my job to book the place we were staying) and went to sleep in the back of the campervan. After almost two more hours of searching, I realized I would have to just drive from holiday park to holiday park heading north towards Auckland (where we were flying out the next day). I went to Huntly simply because it was the next closest option. It was after midnight by this point, and I was exhausted and needed to find a place to stay. When we arrived there was no gate (hallelujah!) and three open powered campervan spots. I hooked us up, and read the chalkboard that said, "Overnight campers park in spots 2, 3, and 5" (or something like that), and there was an honesty drop box cut out in the office door.
I was a little frustrated because if the woman had just said, "Yeah, go in and park, it's $40/night and the office opens at 8 so you can pay then or drop it in the honesty box" we could have been there and sleeping three hours earlier.
The next morning the man (her husband?) came by and just said, "Office is open," so obviously the fact that we had stayed was not an issue, and he was making the rounds, so I was again frustrated but also relieved that we weren't going to have a fight with the office about coming after they had told us they were closed.
That being said, they were both really lovely. We had a bunch of food stuffs to offload since we had been traveling in the campervan for the duration of our trip, and the woman from the office took all of it to bring to the kids at the local school who didn't get breakfast. That made me super happy, because I HATE to waste food. When I was taking the open half gallon of milk to the kitchen (to leave in the fridge in case campers wanted it for coffee/breakfast) she stopped me and said, "You're not going to tip the milk out, are you?" Which sounds silly, but I really appreciated the fact that she wasn't going to waste anything.
We had been fretting packing since we had packed all of our clothes in those vacuum space bags, and when I was paying for the night I saw a vacuum in the office and she let me use it to seal down all of our bags.
As we were finishing up packing they came over to the camper and asked about our trip, and then gave us a lovely Maori magnet from Rotorua.
Despite our miscommunication the night before, they were, hands down, some of the best hosts we had on our trip, and sent us on our way back to the States on a high note.

Beautiful and tidy looking Camping grounds will visit again one day
B.
Great place to stay. Right on the shores of Lake Hakanoa. Easy walking track all around the lake. Straight opposite the hot pools which are cheap to visit. Playgrounds and sports fields in the domain. Facilities are dated but they are spotless. Best pressure in a shower I have come across and the managers Carol and Dave are very friendly. Would stay again
I.
This is a beautiful place. Very clean and the owners are very friendly. Close to Town and a great walk through the lake. We loved this place and will definitely be going back
S.
I enjoyed very much staying @ this lovely and very clean Camping Ground. Carol and David are the most friendly and helpful people. I will recommend this Camping Ground to my friends.

Dave and Carol are amazing and manage this campsite brilliantly. They make Te Araroa trail walkers feel so welcome and do anything to help, including providing pickup transport and daypacks. The facilities are excellent and very clean. I loved the little cabin I was in.

This was a relaxing night spent before returning home. Well equipped kitchen,. We enjoyed the walk around Lake Hakanoa and that was great. A lot of work has been put into gardens their. Found out I didn't have dementia when I remembered the code to ladies facilities. This I found to be an excellent safety feature. Managers very helpful. Will come back again.,and tell others about it

Very clean and tidy. Such lovely people and the showers are fantastic. So peaceful and pretty with a great lake walk and views at your back door
J.
Very good you can walk around the lake which is 5km
D.
Very good value for money. Great staff. Well kept grounds and facilities..easy walk around the lake about 55 mins. Easy walk into town. All in all a very good spot for a couple of nights. Hot showers. Kitchen and laundry available
C.
A hidden gem . Super clean , manicured grounds . Great showers and a welcoming well stocked kitchen . Stayed there last weekend . Busy but no yahoos . Thanks Carole and Dave .
W.
Great spot right on the lake. Quite busy but still a quiet and peaceful place to stop after leaving Auckland. Really well kept and absolutely spotless facilities. Didn't use the (free) laundry but the kitchen and toilet block was immaculate.
Owners were really friendly and helpful.
V.
Very Tidy. Lovely quiet & safe Campground. Right on the Lake. Good walk.

I don't usually respond to meaningless dribble on social media but couldn't help this one from a Kimberley recently. We have been very happy campers at Huntly Holiday Park for many years and will do so in the future. And here's why: the friendliness of Dave and Carole, the tidiness and cleanliness of the premises, and the lovely lake for a quiet stroll. So folks please don't be deterred by the moronic rantings of one. Go check it out for yourself and see where the truth lies.
C.
Not a bad little place. Few weirdos but most Camp grounds have them. Place is very tidy, good facilities and affordable at $20 per night.
J.
Very clean bathroom awesome showers , kitchen stocked and extremely clean. I really enjoyed my stay for such a great price(tent site) I will stay again and soon 😀

Fantastic host

I have stayed here twice before about five years ago. Really enjoyed my stay. Felt safe. I was travelling alone in my motorhome. Had to go to Auckland. Wanted somewhere safe and quiet to unwind from the trip. This really suited me. Very good. Will return.
T.
Remember having a good drink up here

Little and basic holiday park, really correct for the price (15$pp for a tent site). The kitchen is quite small and was not so clean because of the others. Large, nice and clean bathroom (toilets and showers). All the spots (tent sites, powered sites or cabins) are close from each other but everybody was quiet and respectful. Located near the lake. No Free Unlimited Wifi.
K.
Stayed here a month or so ago and was a fantastic site. Lovely setting and very clean throughout. the owner greeting us on the next day and was very helpful and easy going. Definitely staying again!
J.
The owners made me feel right at home on my first night camping in NZ. Felt like a local, friendly campground rather than a faceless, corporate site. Good value, clean kitchen and toilets.
M.
Located conviniently a little south of Auckland. Facilities were clean. A lot of locals hanging out in the park and staying in small cabins. However, would not recommend for women traveling alone as for example the ladies bathroom is located at the very back end of the campground where it cannot be seen by anyone. Also only the ladies bathroom requires a pin code to enter, which is however written for everyone to see near the campground office.
B.
Really lovely people both staying at the camp and the owners. Really easy process, owners are not always there but are really laid back and easy to deal with. Camp is quiet. Will stay again if in the area.
A.
Facilities and kitchen ok but cleaned in the morning BEFORE the check out (so you can't have breakfast or take a shower unless you're an early bird). The water taste like mud, so you can't drink it but there is a tap with filtered water.
R.
Excellent facilities. Super clean toilet block, kitchen, cabins and surrounding grounds.
I planned only an overnight stay when walking the Te Araroa trail, but decided to stay 4 nights.
Thanks Dave and Carol. I will drop in again next year, when I head over to do the Waikaremoana Trail as a starter to get trail fit again, then back to pick up the TA trail again from Huntly/Hamilton.

We were on our way home to Dargaville after picking up a caravan in Papamoa and went to stay at Waingaro Springs.... YUK NO WAY...
Found the Huntly Camping Grounds and just perfect, very clean and tidy, amazing showers... great friendly people running it. Had a great time thanks.
C.
Nice convenient spot close to Auckland, Hamilton and SH1, with nice outlook over the lake, and a cool 1 hour walking track around the lake also. Its a small camp, with a few nice park up spots for overnighters, then quite a few cabins which are mainly used for the new age Kiwi minimum wage workers, giving the camp a sort of 'concentrated' feel to it. There is what appears to be a very overweight camp guard or spy located in the flash new caravan on the main corner, who sits behind the tinted windows each day, only coming out to do empty his poos every few days, who seems to tell tales about the other campers, so watch out for him and his wife/ partner. Dragons guarding their treasure - so to speak. Camp could also do with some composting and a herb / vege garden for both the visitors and the minimum wage 'concentration' workers. The fact that councils do not take the initiative of planting vege gardens and fruit trees on their rate payer funded properties speaks to the state of corporatism (fascism) we are now under in NZ. And the standard 'red dragons' running everything no less.
D.
Friendly staff great people on campus ask for Dave he is the man
S.
Have only walked past but it looks clean n tidy. I do get the feeling by looking at all the vehicles and the grounds themselves that they'd be a tad choosey on who they would accommodate. Just saying.
P.
Very good and quiet position, not too close to main road, nice lake aside. only one hour from airport, perfect for our last night
G.
