Reviews of Roland's Wood
Really nice place to take the dog. Tracks are not gravel or graded but not too rugged. Good footwear would be recommend as it's a bit up and down with tree roots crossing the tracks. Beautiful plantings and trees to provide plenty of shade on hot days.
Fantastic place to take your dog for a bit of offlead exploring. Gets busy from time to time so I recommend having a leash with you in case you need to maneuver to a quieter spot in the woods before taking them off. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed it every visit.
Drove past it three times before I realized where it was the carpark was in the shadow and car was parked out front like it was a driveway but we got there in the end. My dog had an absolute blast he was on a lead as it was our first time and I didn't know the place but there were the loveliest dog owners and dogs there off their leads living their best furry life was so great to see. I did get a little lost following my pup but my kids loved the forest hike like adventure with him, we did visit a day after wet weather so was a little slippery down bottom by the stream but made it all the more adventurous for all .
A fabulous wood to take your pooch for walkies around. It's quite English with the lavendar in spring and the variety of trees and bushes. Theres always some new flowers to enjoy. People pick up after their dogs so it's a great place to enjoy a stroll around.
Beautiful cool space for the dogs to be free. Recommended to wear shoes as some paths are quite steep
Lovely park like grounds. Some tracks and some places where you need to make your own. Watch out for tree roots, rocks in the path, and steepness for those who are uneasy on their feet. Otherwise a beautiful, calm place to enjoy a walk, with or without dogs. Parking space for 4-6 cars, and no bin that I saw, so be prepared with doggy doo bags and that you might have to take them with afterwards!
Fantastic facility for off leash dog play. One of the nicest we have enjoyed in the north island. A creek for dog play but very muddy in winter if you venture down the slope
Pretty park.
Signs say "No Dog Fouling" but does not provide bin for doggy poo pickups.???????
Great place for digs to run free and safely. Great little walk.
So much more than the misnomer as advertised dog walk park. It's a stunning arboretum of mostly European trees worthy of nationally acknowledged status , second only to Eastwoodhill. Well recommended. Delightfully not well signposted or with arrows, so just for ambling in a wooded environment. What fabulous gift to the people of New Zealnd.
Awesome park for dogs. Heaps of shade and paths. One thing that I would love to see is a dog water trough for them after their run around. Otherwise an awesome place
A lovely place for our dogs to wander.
Great spot for some off leash dog running. Enclosed and quite safe, with lots of things for dogs to sniff.
Lovely trees and great place to walk dogs. Best time to visit is Spring
There's a flat (ish) area near the entrance, then the wood gets reasonably steep as you go further down, but the whole place is easy walking as the paths are clear. Maybe avoid the very bottom in winter or after heavy rain as it can be a bit slippery.
Great place for dogs to get some off-leash time. Would be good to have a council rubbish bin there to put the doggy-do bags in.
Off-street parking available for about 5 cars. Doesn't seem to be sign-posted on the roadside, so may be a bit hard to find if you are not familiar with the area
Beautiful. Smell the flowers, hear the birds, be enclosed in stunning grounds where you dog can safely run off lead. Take doggie do bags and pick up after yours. There's no bin so you'll need to take it home.
Lovely shaded area with dirt walking tracks, for a walk with dog on or off leash. Moderate slopes but often with loose leaves and debris.
Wish there was a rubbish bin for dog poop and maybe a water fountain but a lovely dog park and beautiful walk, quite steep so be prepared
Lovely park to visit. Beautiful trees etc are lovely to walk/sit under on a hot day. Very steep in a lot of places though, which can get very slippery when it's wet. The volunteers do a great job though.
Great place to stretch the dogs legs!
Nice little walk, usually full of flowers, and very rare in Kerikeri as dogs are actually welcome here!!!! Hurray! Takes about 20 minutes to get round, but more land has just been acquired by the trust, so extensions are imminent. Thanks Roland's Wood.
Roland's Wood is a fantastic place to take your dog for an adventure and even a nice place for a walk without a dog.
A must see in spring, even if you dont have a dog. European trees and bulbs make for a pleasant stroll. 99% of dogs in this park are well socialised
Unique, can't wait for Spring to see the daffodils and bluebells.
Dog heaven
A fantastic walk through the bush where you can walk your off lead. It is a dedicated dog walking area.
Lots of space for this good boy to run free.
Always a great place to walk your dog especially during spring time.
Nice little walk with lots of nice flora, very muddy after rain
Wonderful park however the dog found the muddy stinky pool to go and play in.
Great place for a nice day out with your dog
Could do with a bit of a clean up by the council
A beautiful place ...to take your best friend for walk and let it run free....no not the wife or your husband....but your other best friend.....or just look at the beautiful flowers that grow there ....you will love it....I do..
Good place to have a walk . A little over planted but it's a park that has been maintained by local volunteers
Nice when the flowers are blooming
Lovely place to walk. Dog friendly, locals and sponsors have done a wonderful job here.
Wow this place is amazing for dogs, wish all dog parks were like this. Thank you Roland!!
First time here today was so good for my doggies will be a daily visit once we move to Kerikeri
Great place to walk the pooch. Watch your step some dog owners do not do pickups -
Kids had fun finding and re hiding painted rocks, beautiful piece of land, quiet too
Its magical bluebells and daffodils and the nicest dogs you could meet.
My dog loves coming here cries when we don't dtopy when going psdty
Partner likes it and girls enjoy finding and hiding stones
Love it and my doggie does too!!
Autumn hues are beautiful but Roalnd's Wood needs some TCL urgently, it's literally going to the dogs
Dogs run free without being a nuisance to other dog owners and dogs.
Fabulous place for the fur kids to run free in such a great setting!
Beautiful Bush & so great for the dogs to get a good run around.
