Reviews of Remutaka Forest Park
K.Love this park but the grounds need a lot of work. Grass is knee and in some places waist height to not that great to walk in. The tracks are great but the grounds are not.
M.Best time.....good hunting.....awesome place!
L.Great place for day walks, overnight tramps and picnics. Multiple well marked tracks to suit all levels in a stunning bush surrounding. Good basic toilet facilities in carpark with information boards about the walks nearby. Bellbirds, Tuis, Fantails, Grey warbler, Kerereu and even a North Island Robin were spotted on our walk. Kiwi nesting signs were also on display. Well worth the drive!

J.Beautiful! Lots of parking. Lots of signs and info. Toilets. Heaps of friendly visitors and locals. Lots of tracks. Dog friendly on leads. Can not fault this lovely area of NZ.

J.Excellent forest park to explore various walking trails. We did the Catchpool valley walk to the river bed, had a picnic lunch there and walked up further along and crossing the shallow river/stream to explore. Some stunning clear views towards the Wairarapa. Walk took 3.5hrs round trip, on a fairly flat route. Many of the walks are sheltered from the rain and wind contrary to what might be happening elsewhere in the Hutt or WGN.

L.Remutaka Forest Park is my happy place! Where else in the world can you drive 50 min from a capital city CBD and 'get away from it all'.
