M.DOG OWNER ALERT. THIS PLACE CHARGES $5/ NIGHT.When asked, they said it was in case they had to pick up the poo, and that it was a privilege to have a dog.I wasn't even given a free bag ! I pointed out that people who travel with dogs are very responsible
Other than that, a beautiful place to stat
M.A decent spot to stop for the night. Good facilities and a good place to top on the way to wellington. Sadly the staff do not know how to wear their masks properly. Also I have never seen the word 'NO' posted in one campsite. It was kind of comical to see how many things the office felt the need to explain in bold lettering.
I.The most kids friendly campsite. This place is overrun by kids :) super clean, so many attractions - beach, river, eels, trampolines. Great great spot
J.GREAT!! it's got everything really, lots of entertainment for kids (eels, playground, bouncy pillow, trampolines) and still good if you don't like those things😉, lots of walks, right next to the beach, mountain bike tracks, cafes close by. On site there is a kitchen, showers, fridges and some very nice grills to cook food on. The scenery is great and even at peak times it still is peaceful and full of bird life.
T.Nice clean well priced accomodation. Friendly welcome . Great ablution facilities and well maintained . Been here twice and will definitely go back.
V.Another great family holiday at this camp ground. Beautiful setting. Clean facilities and even an iron and ironing board for the summer dresses that were wrinkled. My family and I love coming here, fabulous safe environment for the kids and just generally a place for a great break.

E.Good sheltered spots, on good grass. Good playground but the trampolines are dangerous and need removing. Toilets and kitchen are very old and in need of an upgrade. Not the best customer service either.

P.A nice holidaypark at a great location but the staff are very unfriendly and in bad mood. You get the feeling you are not welcome.
The laundry and washing machines are very dirty and full of dog hair.
The cabins are in old conditions with no full functional and very old heating systems for colder nights.
Bring your own heating if you stay in the colder months.
There are also no smoke alarms installed inside the cabins. It could be dangerous.
g.Nice clean holiday camp, big area and lovely staff. Facilities are old but we'll maintained. Lonely place to stay especially breathing so close to the beach.
R.Clean camp. Great trails immediately around the camp to walk and cycle (along with your dogs). Highly recommend it.

M.Found this lovely spot after arriving into Wellington off the ferry. Wanted to get away before peak traffic so this only about 30 mins drive. Very clean, well equipped, close to the beach and no traffic noise so we slept really good.
P.What a Gem, just spent 4 nights in this awesome Holiday Park. Facilities were GR8, located throughout the park. A very Family friendly place. A short walk from the beach, late evening you can hear the surf & early morning awake to some incredible bird song. Really enjoyed it and will be back for sure.
G.Love this place along with walking/cycling tracks plus close proximty to beautiful flat and rubbish free beach. The camping ground has marvellous facilities plus the greenest grass youll ever see, and soft and forgiving for little children playing.The park grounds adjacent have the most amazingly clean toilet/shower blocks scattered throughout the 400 acres which could host hundreds if not thousands of picnic goers at one time.

Worst part is that friends visiting are not welcome according to the sign at the front gate. And yes our friends were being polite and went to the office to say they were visiting us an did not fell the welcome at all.

c.Best showers ever. So peaceful. Lots of trees. Everything so clean. Beach just over the road. Bike trail goes right past or catch a train to Wellington. Everything you could possibly want. A credit to the owners

F.Saty her for a couple of nights in one of their kitchen cabins, cabin and grounds were tidy and well maintained, the jumping pillow was awesome. Located right by the beach and the queen Elizabeth park.

The facilities a total let down.
Cobwebs bugs no plugs ,no shower mats . A very cold facility for what you pay
4min showers $5 to use washing machines. Compared to many other camps charging a high rate this camp falls well short of expectations.
R.Very well maintained. Most sites have a trimmed hedge boundary. Lots to choose from, and so close to bike tracks and of course the beach.

D.A great spot for kids and relaxing. Set in lovely coadtal bush setting with trails and beach next to camping. Only downside is kitchen and toilet facilities overused/crowded during Christmas/NewYear time, and too many campervans...
V.Excellent self camping site. There is seperate dog's bay and lovely activites for kids. The walk across streams filled with eels is an exceptional experience.
A.Stayed here for two weeks or so in September. Super friendly staff, well kept grounds. Good place to stop on your way to the interislander. Paekakariki is super nice, great cafes and arty stuff going on!
A.Very pretty location, beach 2 min walk away with lifeguards on duty. Family friendly for young children with biking trails, trampolines and playground. Negatives are that showers are terrible and on a 4 minute timer with a 4 minute wait before you get hot water again. Hot water is not always hot, stalls are tiny and having only five female showers available for whole camp makes it hard for mums to get younger kids showered. No music after nine o'clock suits younger families but enforcing it on New Years Eve was disappointing. Would go back if wanting beach days and long quiet nights.
W.Nice clean tidy place. Your in nature. Beautiful beach a couple of minutes walk down the road. Lots of native wildlife. Shops/food/bar/bottlestore and main highway about 3minute drive away. Basic units. Ours had everything you need only we had to use the communal shower and toilet that were clean and a nice quick step away but not too close to the units. I don't know whether the other units had toilets or showers. Take your own blankets and tea/coffee/milk. Sheets and pillows were supplied

So close to the beach, the streams running throughout the park with eels are a highlight. Shared showers and bathrooms facilities are kept well clean.
L.What a gem of a place. We have sat here before and it feels like our second home. Friendly and hospitality comes first and the seld contained cabins have everything you need. A great base for a cool trip (Escarpment track), along the beach or Kapiti Island

J.Picked this place on a whim because we wanted to get away for a weekend. What a find. I have lost count of how many times we have driven passed this village. Didn't even know the campsite was here. It is brilliant. Heaps of room. Well maintained sites - and plenty of them. Showers and toliets nice and clean. It is really near the seafront, which is an awesome walk with views of Kapiti Island. A thriving village centre with cafes and shops a half hour walk away. Less than an hour into Wellington for the ferry. What more could you want. We'll be back.
C.Nice campground if you have a good spot. At first we were put close to the main amenities, on a very small powered site in the sun next to big caravans. We asked if we could go somewhere else and a different lady told us to go to a bigger grass area further down which was very nice. Our tent was under a Christmas tree and close to the bathroom and kitchen. Only downside is that there wasn't any compost or rubbish bin in that kitchen, only recycling. But there was some in the main kitchen at the entry of the park. The campground is also in the middle of the park that was used for filming Lord of the Rings.
C.Great facilities and in a really lovely location. Close to the beach. Great play areas for kids with a big blow up "pillow" and trampolines... Run in quite a strict manner by the management which is good in some ways and not so much in others. Overall a great experience.
B.Very Clean facilities, very helpful staff, great atmosphere. lovely bush walks around the perimeter of the camp and down to the beach. Lovely walks along the beach with views of Kapiti island. Very sheltered with mature trees shading some sites.
P.No separation between the tent site but not so much people so we had our privacy. Kitchen and facilities old but clean. Kitchen quite small for everybody and not “unlimited” hot shower (you have to push a button outside for ONLY 4 minutes of hot water). Nice outside. No Free Unlimited Wifi.
G.We stayed in a kitchen cabin. Toilets and showers was shared but not miles away. Bring your own bedding etc. Handy for the very nice Queen Elizabeth park. But away from the shops and cafes, too far to be walking easily.
C.Really nice place - beautiful location and property, with fairly private sites. Good facilities. There are signs everywhere telling you what you can and can’t do, but it means the owners run a tight ship, and the results speak for themselves. Recommended!
M.Highly recommended place to stay. So quiet and serene. Close to train into Wellington. Saves trying to find a car park in Wellington.
P.Only stayed the one night but cabin was well priced and had full cooking facilities, fridge etc and plenty of space. Pleasantly surprised. Shame about the weather though. Would stay here again and for longer next time.
X.we have traveled in both islands for more than 20 days, and stayed here after ferried back to north from picton. Really liked this place and believe us this one is the best among all of the holiday parks we stayed in NZ.
C.A nice campsite with a good amount of space per site. Owner was very casual and friendly. Kitchen and faculties are fairly dated, but for the relatively good price its a nice place to stay. Worth noting you pay per person not per tent or site.
S.We'd read some bad reviews of the booking procedures and experienced it ourselves, confusing, information passed as requested, then requested again, and again. Also read about acerbic nature of some lady on reception, so had baited breath when we arrived. No issues though, the Camp was clean if basic. Facilities and bins were clean and monitored ( note the webcams in the kitchen). So, facilities, - Two Kitchens, clean with fridges/freezers microwave and hot water all working, no pots and pans, plates etc. Water was HOT all the time. Toilets, clean, 4 minutes of showering, pressure was good. TV room which we didn't use, Reception has a small shop with newspapers, milk, ice cream etc. Grounds were clean and well maintained. Childrens facilities all good, large air tramp at one end of park, and playground at other. Stream flows around the camp which the kids loved. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend the place.

S.A great family oriented place to stay! The only thing I would add is that those poor eels rite by the playground sure do get a hard time. We saw many poked by sticks and yelled at. Maybe a ‘Respect the Eels’ sign for the kiddies would be a good idea.

T.Nice camping with clean facilities. The only slightly negative point is the 4min hot water timing for the showers... The button is outside so basically, you have 3.30min to wash... Which is very short.
K.Was a bit disappointed with our stay. Toilet/shower middle block was closed due to not hot water/plumbing issues which we encountered when we stayed here over a year ago. A few gate issues and not very friendly office staff

B.Fabulous camping ground! Beautiful gardens and well kept grounds, clean facilities. Excellent location to a wonderful coast line and very handy to Interislander terminals.
E.(Translated) A very nice campsite. It is comfortable by train in about 40 minutes. in Wellington. For other guests who put their sheets, towels (with dog hair?) In my dryer the campsite nothing, but also here was helped immediately. I can only recommend camping!

Ein sehr schöner Campingplatz. Man ist mit dem Zug gemütlich in ca. 40min. in Wellington. Für andere Gäste, die ihre Bettwäsche , Handtücher (mit Hundehaaren?) in meinen Trockner stecken kann der Campingplatz nichts dafür , aber auch hier wurde umgehend geholfen. Campingplatz kann ich nur empfehlen!
