Reviews of Isthmus Peak Track Parking
Highly recommend this hike if you're looking for an alternative to the mostly crowded Roy's Peak. The hike itself is basically just a paddock road winding up (you could actually drive a 4WD up there), but the views are getting better and better. Absolutely stunning at the top!
Small parking lot (watch out for the "high crash rate" warning) at the start of the trail. There are some more parking spaces down the road that require a little walk, but it will be fine. You're going to be walking for a few hours anyway ;) Looks like most people do he walk early in the morning and are back by 2-3pm. So more spots available after 2-3pm.
Small lot that fits about 10 cars. There’s a tiny strip on the right side of the road right before this lot that fits about 4 cars. The trek is beautiful but cold, wet, and windy this time of year.
Beautiful hike having an overview om both lakes whem reaching the top. Don't be thrown off by the strange first part climbing over a smal steep rock party. After that the route becomes wider and more clear and remains steep. Great challenge and beautiful reward.
3.50 hours all the way to the top and 2 hours back down. It is very difficult, in the sense that will demand a lot from your muscles. But the view just gets better and better and if you make all the way up, you wont regret it. Try to take a photo with the sheep and the water on the background! Challenging as they run away, but it brings fun to the walk. Also saw deers in the evening and two black face sheep! Up there is very very windy and cold. Make sure to bring a jacket to block the wind!
There is a parking area across the road, parking wont be a problem:)
A fairly small parking lot on the opposite side of the road to the trail head. Be careful when crossing. Beautiful view of the lake and morning sunrises.
Great hike with amazings views. I enjoyed this more than Roy's peak
I second Noah, sweet as gravel. And the hike is sick as well!
