I couldn’t recommend ONI gym more. I have been working with Carl for a year now and he is a fantastic personal trainer. Carl is very easy to get along with and he really invests in you as a person. His focus is on your holistic health (including diet, sleep, stress, etc), not just working you out in the gym. Training with Carl is the right balance of fun and a challenge, and he tailors each session to your needs - whether that be a stretch/ rehab day, or a push. I absolutely love training at ONI - all the staff and clients are super lovely and get along really well. It’s a great atmosphere to train in.

I highly recommend Carl for anyone looking for a personal trainer in Wellington! Carl has a ton of experience and knowledge, and he's great at working with complete beginners too. He makes every session fun, challenging and engaging while tailoring things to meet your needs. He’s got a great sense of humour and sessions with him always have me laughing.

I truly don’t know how to start this really.
I’ve got a nutritionist and personal trainer here.
Without a doubt I can say it’s changed my life.
Yeah you’ll go to other places and they’ll tell you how to lift weights but in reality it’s just a job and some are not great at it.
Here at Oni they genuinely care. It’s more like Life Coaching than a type of gym you’ve been used to.
Instead of throwing weights around, you can feel the smallest of muscles, movement which was hard or impossible before. Learning to engage parts of your body that probably have been rarely used before. All in a laid back, fun atmosphere. While being helped to eat the right things at the right time.
I was scared and apprehensive about going but without a doubt walking through the doors of Oni was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Highly recommend you make a visit.

My time working with Carl at ONI has been fantastic.
Carl himself is both knowledgeable and fun to work with. I never feel like I’m being judged, even when struggling with something that feels like it should be easy. Whatever level you start at is good and can only get better from there.
He’s also really understanding that “sometimes life happens” and stays encouraging, helping with the little things to try focus on each week to build up.
I especially enjoy the little games he makes out of certain exercises, explaining them with anecdotes of how he learned about them. It helps makes things fun, and before you realize it, you’ve already done a whole ton of exercises!
I definitely recommend working with Carl if you’re given the chance. Thank you again Carl and the rest of the ONI team!

Amber has taken the time to think about what I’ve needed from my training sessions. Pushing me when I needed it but also knowing when to pull back, so I feel confident and safe with the exercise programme she has designed, especially when working out at home by myself.
Amber pushes me to reach my goals in a completely encouraging and supportive way and has such a realistic, healthy outlook on exercise and well-being which I admire. Today I feel fitter and stronger and without her encouragement, I would most likely have given up due to my busy lifestyle.

If you hate mainstream Gyms, this could be the place for you. I train with Carl, and as an exercise-phobe I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I've enjoyed working out under his instruction. A small studio style gym, with everything you need - without the gym bunnies and crowds.

I've been lucky enough to work with Carl since June 2020 and he has quite simply changed my life - for me he is the best personal trainer in Wellington! I came to him with my confidence at zero, having injured my knee just before lockdown and feeling pretty low about what my body could do. I immediately found Carl a warm and friendly person, who I clicked with and I knew that we would make a good team. Carl helped me to rehabilitate my knee and start to do things (like deadlifts, kettlebell swings and press-ups) that I never thought I would do. Although I work directly with Carl all the other staff at ONI are very friendly and welcoming and are genuinely interested and excited in my progress. If you want to work with the best personal training team in town, give them a call!

ONI Personal Training studio is one of the gems of the Wellington fitness realm. I’ve been seeing a Personal Trainer there for about a year now and I’ve received nothing but quality service. In fact, the entire team is made up of passionate individuals, from the fantastic trainers to the massage therapists. They have everything you need to integrate you back into functional movement or achieve peak performance. The studio itself has a trendy but professional vibe about it and is a fantastic environment to train in. Finally, the ONI approach is one of the best I’ve seen in helping clients achieve their goals!

Honestly, can't speak any higher about Laurent and his team at ONI. They took the stigma out of going to the gym with their friendly and professional attitude about personal training and I've been lucky to have had some great sessions there. ONI is such an amazing place filled with an incredible team! I trained with Sam High to work on some personal fitness goals of mine ranging from pistol squats, to pull ups, to handstands. As time went on I was hitting my goals and starting new ones I never even imagined I'd be able to do! He also helped eliminate pain I had been getting in my elbow. On top of all of this I became friends with other trainers who work here as well. It truly is a great environment and you won't regret your experience here!

I've been competing at an international level and training as a high performance athlete for many years and I can safely say I have never come across a more helpful, thoughtful team than the personal trainers at ONI. He knows his stuff, pushes you with encouragement and challenges you with new exercises to help you become invincible and achieve your goals. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.

A professional studio focused on fitness and health. I'm currently loving my personal training sessions. I'm challenged rather than pressured, and I really like how they listened, and tailored my sessions are to my goals. They have a number of other services I haven't tried yet. I haven't once been "upsold" but glad to know they services are available. Laurent got me wedding fit and I highly recommend ONI for anyone wanting to improve their health in a positive environment.

I came here to sort an old shoulder issue. Working through with Laurent and his team, the occurrence of pain went way down and my shoulder felt much better. I feel far more confident in doing any gym exercises now because they were hands-on with teaching me how to use my shoulder correctly, paying far more attention to how I actually moved and fixing that - something I haven't gotten from other many of my previous physios. I would recommend ONI to anyone looking for long-term fixes to their body issues.

Laurent and his team at ONI were awesome to work with in their case study. Coming into it I had been dealing with shoulder pain and had not been training as to avoid injuring it again. Very quickly the guys at ONI were able to isolate the cause of the problem and began to explain how they were going to set up the rehabilitation process through creating a foundation of correct movement patterns, engaging and feeling the right muscle groups working. Within a couple of weeks I had stopped feeling pain in my shoulder and we had progressed to now loading the movements with weight. The improvement that these exercises brought quickly helped not only with the relief of pain, but also allowed me to start swimming again without problems and helped at work with overhead movements. By the end of the six weeks they had started to coach me through putting my shoulder movement and strength through as much as they could handle by guiding me through an overhead squat. They took their time to discuss and trial with me why they were choosing to prescribe particular movements and what I should expect to gain out of each exercise in order to rehabilitate properly throughout the process. They would make sure to always help in cuing helpful tips or give insights as to how I could remember to do the exercise correctly by myself. They were very thorough and helpful throughout case study and I highly recommend their services.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Alec at ONI for a case study into posture. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience - Alec was able to quickly gauge my needs and goals while factoring in my inexperience and equipment limitations. I am impressed with the results we achieved and am motivated to continue, he was able to break down a workout into palatable chunks, while still directly targeting the areas, leading to a significant reduction in my pain and muscle tightness, and improving my overall physique. Would highly recommend Alec, and the whole team at ONI.

I've been using Laurent and the ONI team since 2017 (before it was officially ONI). The knowledge and expertise of the Oni crew is outstanding. They have helped with rehab on a couple of injuries that would have taken me out of strength sports, but with correct exercise was able to come back. Also working on prehab and fixing the smaller muscle groups is probably the best thing I could have done.

Haven't been to a gym before that focuses so much on what you are doing outside of the gym, and how to help you in your own sports. Lau and Liam both helped me improve through strengthening, teaching me exercises I can do before and after my swimming, cycling or running training, as well as how to better recover and prevent injuries from happening. Wouldn't have got to the start line without these guys! 11/10 would recommend to endurance athletes (or part-timers like myself).

I been lucky enough to work with Coach Matt Jepson coming up just shy of 1 year. knowing Matt on a personal level made the experience even better.
I went through a bad knee injury and had surgery done and my No.1 goal was to make sure my knee is free and strong as possible. Working with Matt I got to learn a whole new level of understanding movements and how joints should move on a normal body, his attention to details was for sure an eye opener for me and working with Matt step by step I gained a lot of confidence in my knee but also learnt so much on how to keep my body & knee healthy.
Being a footballer and a sports person himself made it easier to relate

I recently completed the ONI 6 Week challenge and achieved some amazing results!! I could not have transformed so much in the short amount of time, without their support. The program showed us how we can change our lives, in a holistic and step by step process. Instead of just following a meal and workout plan, we learnt the importance of many factors including sleep, goal setting, training, nutrition, etc.
This enabled me to recognize and mitigate unhealthy habits.
Whilst, building/developing healthy habits and learning how to stay consistent with these. A big lesson I learnt, was progress over perfection. This really helped me continue to develop these healthy habits after I finished the challenge. In turn, I have been able to stay motivated and feeling great. Laurent is a pleasure to work with and I would love to take part again.

It was incredibly helpful having the challenge keeping be accountable on a daily basis, as well as providing me with guidelines on how to build good habits and maintain them - throughout the challenge and beyond.

Ben at Oni provided fantastic support and guidance as my nutritional coach, and I’ve really appreciated his professional but grounded and practical advice. Together we worked out the plan, boundaries and key factors needed to get the balance right to support cutting weight while maintaining my training at a high intensity for a kickboxing fight. I've been with Ben Means as my PT at ONI since mid-2018 and I stand behind him and his expertise without hesitation. Crucial to Ben's success is that he treats clients like friends or colleagues (even so far as treating people like, well, people) and listens to feedback. When something works well or you enjoy something, he ups the anti and introduces more; when something isn't working well, he takes the approach of working together to tackle the problem and achieve a sustainable solution; when something hurts, it's a full stop for a while and then gentle rehabilitation starts. I've had my fair share of all three (with particularly bad debilitating injuries), and of all the support I've received from chiropractors, GPs, physiotherapists (and drugs), Ben's understanding habit-building approach has been the key to my continued recovery and motivation.
I have rarely met someone as passionate about their trade, where you truly feel as if Ben's purpose in taking you on is to see you become the best version of yourself, rather than seeing you as another walking wallet. Ben's expertise and passion come into nutrition as well as physical training and movement, and I've had the privilege to learn about, and implement, a variety of nutritional habits into my lifestyle.

I was on the 6 week challenge created by ONI. The community there was really informative and was a one stop shop for exercise and nutrition. The challenge was well worth it because it encourages you cook your own meals which equates to saving money. Laurent and the community also provided some awesome nutritional recipes.

The team there identified every weak point I currently had. 3 WEEKS was all it took to get rid of the back pain I had been experiencing constantly for over 5 years. The best part was that everything they told me I should do was really simple and easy to do. I went through six weeks of training with Laurant and his team, I had been suffering daily back pain for 3 years, along with lower back muscle spasms, leaving me unable to exercise.
Within two weeks my back pain had decreased by at least 70%. The exercises Laurant gave me to do at home were incredibly simple and easy, but so effective and fast working, every week my back muscles had strengthened and were ready for more work load.
By the end of the six weeks I had a solid understanding of why my back gets so sore, and how I can help that, my pain is 90% gone and I know within a few more weeks it will be 100%.

I can't recommend PT Michael highly enough. His enthusiasm, patience and professionalism are what keeps me coming back every week. Michael builds a programme for me that focuses on my needs but he also listens to my wishes. I have an ongoing back issue that causes me a lot of pain and discomfort and can make certain movements very uncomfortable. Michael is constantly educating himself regarding my condition and helping me to better understand how I can improve my movement and reduce the pain not only at the gym but also in my daily life.

A word of thanks for the great Physio work from Josh @ Oni. Had immense discomfort and pain from a tight thoracic spine that was a result of Chostochondritis. After the first session the pain had subdued immensely and mobility was almost at pre injury levels. Was prescribed thoracic spine mobility exercises that helped me manage the condition independently, and subsequently start getting back to pre injury routines without having to worry about discomfort or pain. The team at Oni are operated by the best and the results are testament to that. Thanks again.
