I’ve been going to Black & White Box for over 3 years now and I love the quality services that they provide (customer, development and scan). They are a friendly crew, transparent with their wait time, and film photos always turn out great!

This is the only lab in New Zealand I trust with my film. Period.
These guys are extremely friendly, professional, and punctual with their service and film Development. I have been using them for over a year now and have had almost 100 rolls developed by them (that is a lot of film). Never a single issue and all the staff are friendly and willing to help out whether you are a total beginner or pro film Photographer. Their prices are extremely fair and you get what you pay for. You will not be disappointed! 10/10 times if anyone asks me where to go for film developing I recommend these guys. If you haven't tried them yet, do. If you only use these guys, don't bother trying anywhere else. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Thanks so much Lorenzo,
Thanks for arranging my 15 differently sized original images into 3 posters.
The posters are now on my living room wall and look like an exhibition which is what I intended. In particular I like how you made some images larger rather than simply having a grid of photos really bought things to life.
Thankyou. I would recommend your services again.

Pretty much the only place you can go to develop B&W images. Received very fast, will recommend and will come again.

I came here for a passport photo. There were minor issues because I needed it for a US passport but they worked with me until we got it all sorted. I would use them again.

I went there for passport photo and the staff who helped me with photos are so friendly and prompt. It was my fault who had given him a wrong size for photo to be printed and he actually resolved it for me within10 minutes . I am really happy with the service and will definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to have passport photo taken and printed. The quality of photo is great and great value as well. Thank you very much again !!

What a great place! I've gotten my film rolls developed elsewhere in auckland but have found that the B&WB consistently gives me the best quality. All the staff are extremely knowledgeable on film and other paraphernalia. I've tried something new every time I've been in and have yet to be disappointed. One of the staff encouraged me to try the purple lomography film, which I was soooo skeptical about but ended up loving it. It's now a regular in my rotation!
I've been lucky enough to chat to the owner a few times and he's an absolutely lovely dude, what else can you ask for in a business?
I'd totally recommend taking one of the courses offered, if you can! I (a total newbie who knows very little about film processing) learned how to print in a darkroom! I would have never thought in my life I would learn how to do something cool. They offer a bluetooth speaker in the darkroom so you can really get the vibes going.
Overall, I really love and respect this place. I've converted a few of my friends to get film developed here, and I hope I convince whoever is reading this to as well!!!!!!!

Awesome photography lab! I have been using them since they first opened up and they have continued to provide great service and quality work. They have a great new shop in newton road now which looks really cool! Heaps of parking down the ramp next to the store which is great too. Excited to see they are supporting large format photographers with lots of new film stocks available in the store.

An outstanding business. They provide prompt, friendly and competent service; their develop & scanning service is excellent and doesn't cost the price of a small car; and they don't make you feel inferior for not being a professional photographer.

The best place in Auckland to get your film developed. HANDS DOWN. the workers are always the kindest when I arrive, they develop and send your images in the fastest amount of time. They are of great quality images as well. Honestly could not love this place any more. Going back to develop some more rolls soon.

The Black and White Box is my go to for film development in Auckland. Their service is efficient and professional and the results are top shelf.

Ever since getting into film photography early 2019 The Black and White Box have been my go to place for dev and scans, while also having an affordable and wide selection of film to purchase. All I've had are consistent results from this amazing team!

They’re the best, great quality and always understanding and helpful! Easy to contact too if you have queries or are confused about something (which helped me a lot when getting my film scanned for the first time ever and not having any idea what I was doing)
Location is pretty subtle and small which I really like actually. Overall these guys are great and good help I would definitely recommend using The Black White Box for all ur needs no matter how experienced you are !

Note! The building is not out in the main road but rather inside a short alley near the coffee shop. There should be a visible signage in the middle if you are looking into the alley.
One of the not many film processing shops in Auckland, these people are one of the most friendliest people I have met. They process film and also sell fresh film stored in their refrigerators. Prices vary between formats and I think you can also request for batch processing.
Parking is quite difficult, so it's best to park at a avenue nearby and walk to the shop.
Would recommend, good people.

I use them just for development and do all my own scanning, but their service is friendly and very fast. I usually get my rolls back same day if I drop them in the morning. I’ve never had an issue with any roll I’ve gotten back, so they are my go-to developers.

The black and white box has really set the bar for film developing in New Zealand. They're a full service lab with awesome printing options too. Really quick service and they always do an incredible job. Lorenzo and Caitlin are always happy to answer my endless questions aswell! Best of luck with the future guys

I'm not a film photographer but I get quite a bit of digital print work done through these people - and the results are always absolutely impeccable. And friendly fast service also. They take a pride in their output and that's very important to me.

I've been using The Black and White Box's service since the initial grassroots stages of their lab. I must say it's bloody hard running an analogue photography start-up business, let alone in Auckland in this day and age. I've witnessed Lorenzo (the owner) working tirelessly outside of hours to maintain consistent developing and scanning turn around times for my orders.
On many occasions, I've needed urgent film processing and Lorenzo has gone above and beyond to deliver and ensure minimal stress on my part receiving images the following morning - this has helped me out immensely!
I consider myself a serious film photographer, therefore consistency is paramount in a film lab. Lorenzo has always stood by his product and been prompt and patient to diagnose any developing or scanning concerns I've had. I can remember a couple of instances that I was offered rescans or development compensation - this approachability and transparency has meant a lot to me in his service!
If you're looking for an Auckland-based lab, that's doing their best to maintain quality at an affordable price then look no further. Drop by their lab for a yarn and support this service and support the growing film community in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
