Very happy with the Canon camera.
M.Supreme experience. I ordered a gimbal in the afternoon which arrived in Auckland by the following morning. Unfortunately the product had a manufacturing defect but they immediately arranged to send out a replacement and collect the original once it arrived, and also offered to arrange a swap with a Auckland retailer if I wanted to do it same day.
A.Ordered a lens from them over the phone yesterday. It was in stock in another store, in Dunedin, but they got it to me in the Nelson area by about 10am this morning. To say I'm impressed by this is a huge understatement. And the guy at the other end of the phone was so friendly and helpful. Thanks guys!

H.Amazing service from a great team. A total newbie to the world of photography here. Vinnie spent close to two hours just teaching me what to look out for when buying a camera. Told me to take a few days and have a think. Came back and got myself an awesome camera that I’m loving and an excellent quality used lens. Came back for another used lens and Greg arranged a great deal on that one too. Never felt pressured to buy and the team gives the feel that they just want you to succeed in your photography journey. If, like me, you’re just starting out and have many questions, I highly recommend a visit.

S.Called earlier in the week and spoke to Matthew, and asked if they had a particular item in stock as I was driving through Christchurch and was only there for a day. They told me at the time the item was in stock and I would be all good to drop in the next day to collect it.
When I came to visit the next day, I spoke to Matthew again. He had realised after I'd hung up that the particular item was in stock, just at another store across the city and that I hadn't left a phone number. He had gone to great lengths to get it couriered overnight from the other store to make sure it was available for me to collect. Most places would just tell their customers to drive across the city to the other place to get it, so I was very happy to see he had it couriered and put aside for me.
Absolutely fantastic service from Matthew who was super friendly and helpful to deal with, and based off this I will be ordering everything I need in future from their website, and when I move to Christchurch in a few months, I'll be making sure to give them all of my patronage.

I've had quite a bit to do with them this year and they've always made me feel like a valued customer and not just a dollar sign. They really know the game but are willing to admit when they're not sure of something and will do their best to fill in the gaps. Very humble. A.Always helpful and accommodating, I don't think I have ever been into Photo & Video without a welcome or offer of assistance. Really is a one stop shop, can't wait to spend all of my piggy bank money at my new local!
B.I had messaged them to ask if they knew when they'd be getting a camera bag back in and it was out of stock. A couple of days later, I got an email saying they had tracked down one last bag that was not showing in the system and had it sent to the store. I paid online the next day and it showed up on my doorstep the day after that. Awesome customer service!!!!!

In this instance, I was after an Olympus Pro lens and I dealt with Greg and he was super quick in responding to my emails, and offered some of the most patient, friendly and top-notch service I've ever experienced in my life! He patiently walked through options with me and gave solid, trustworthy advice. I highly highly recommend Photo & Video International for all your camera and video needs. Their service is most excellent! I can't recommend them enough.

After getting my camera back from Sony with the problem seemed to be fixed I was surprised and delighted to see a reimbursement of my money that I had spent on sensor cleans. A.Greg, Matt and the others have been awesome for years of excellent service, these guys bend over backwards to help you when you really need it. I've been to camera shops in Germany, Australia, New York and this is the best shop and best service I've ever encountered. There's a difference between people who look more on their wallet and those who are altruistic. Very happy long term customer.

D.I'm a child of the digital age and love shopping online. A lot of people do these days and with that a lot of retail businesses seem to be becoming obsolete. Or do they?
When I was shopping around for my first 'serious' camera a few friends pointed out Photo & Video - these guys seem to be quite notorious (in a good way) in Christchurch! I was going back and forth whether to buy online or in-store and ended up going there and buying from a real person just for a change.
First of all these guys are not at all or hardly any more expensive than online retailers. In 3 out of 4 cases they offer the best prices in NZ when I'm looking for something. But that's not even what my decision was about. The team has helped me out on so many levels, from decision making, the friendly offer of loan gear, they helped with relatively complex warranty claims and last but not least there's about 200 years of accumulated know-how working in that store. Did I mention that the staff is super friendly? They are all people who enjoy what the do - and it sure shows!
So long story short - they are a friendly, competent, helpful, well-stocked and well-priced camera store and you should pay them a visit when you're looking for some quality input for anything photo or video related.

They used to be on the corner of 1st floor, but now moved to 2nd floor of the mall. Just go up the curved staircases and you will find them.

We had ace service from this store. Mum left all her used films from 10 plus years ago undevelvoled . The store was able to process all o f them and we recovered a large amount of unseen photos of our family and some were important memories. Developed and loaded up onto discs for us to enjoy. I needed a scan of a framed photo in a hurry and the fella in the store did the job for me right away. He did a great job of carefully removing the photo from the frame, scanning it, and putting the photo back in the frame. Great job and great service!

T.If you're looking to get your film developed, go somewhere else. This place used to be great and affordable with quality analogue service, now it seems to be done with pace in mind, and completed with lack of quality control. The past three rolls of film I have got developed and printed or scanned here have come out with many rookie mistakes each time. From fingerprints, to sub-par image quality, to terrible cropping (and I'm talking photos cropped in half), each time has left me feeling disappointed in the scanning services and the staff completing the tasks. It's a shame that this place seems to no longer have the personal touch that it once did.
C.Staff are both very knowledgeable and very helpful. They really want you to have the best photographic experience. Of course their range of new and second hand products is pretty impressve too.

C.They used to be very good but lately their staff seem less helpful. They are certainly no longer open to negotiation for large sales. They even quoted to charge me for a battery that came free with the camera I was looking at which was a current promotion.
M.This place can be hit and miss for film developing. Quite often won't scan an image or two properly per roll, takes like 2 days to have a roll developed compared to when I first started going there it would be same day. Also dev and scan is the same price as just a scan which makes home developing useless
J.Once again these guys have helped me in my photography journey! The lens that came with my camera was not working correctly and they fortunately had a better quality option for me. I will continue to refer to these guys for future questions and products. Thank you!!
M.This place is PRICEY. But the reason it gets 4 stars is because not only do they develop film, but they are one of (if not the only) place in Christchurch that does so on site! They charge a lot for developing single rolls at a time (20$ per-roll if you want it digitized), but they will provide a bulk discount if you have more than three rolls -- just be sure to ask firmly. They also had a Nikon to Cannon lens adapter that made it possible for me to use my old Nikon Film Lens with my Cannon DLSR. This is a very hard to find piece of equipment that I had considered ordering offline (which they will do for you if you ask).
Bottom Line: Great for niche parts or developing film (develops in 1 days time), but very expensive. You get what you pay for...
L.Stock the best range of 35mm film I've seen in Christchurch. Get all my non cine film developed there too, no complaints
