Reviews of Como Villa Estate
A must stop on your travels - a hidden gem. Great wines and a fantastic snapshot of history through a great deal of effort taken.
I’m so pleased we stopped her on our motorhome travels (you can spend the night in your motorhome or caravan) - so much to see and learn.
This place is a little treat! If you’re after a little history lesson of the area and how Como Villa was established I’d highly recommend this place. John is super lovely and very informative about how the estate was established, this place has a lot of lovely history, not only about Clyde settlement but also about the travellers that settled there, gold mining and how they made wine and found the wine cellar underground when developing the land.
We stayed here overnight in our campervan. Brilliant hosts and a stunning property. The time, effort and energy they have put into gathering the history on the place is amazing. We highly recommend the tour and wine tasting. Great value, incredibly interesting and good wine. Thank you Johnny and Pamela.
Fabulous place to not only freedom camp but th history kōrero by Johnny very special. And of course the must sample and buy wine- well worth a stop
Very good vineyard to visit. The oldest in NZ. Taster of 5 wines $10. Lots of history and artifacts. Very interesting history related by owners. Need a couple of hours minimum.
Very special winery and museum. Loved waking around the property and it was an added plus that they are with okay2stay
Not sure why this place shows Temporary Closed, it’s most definitely OPEN!
Great place to not only see some amazing history but meet the hosts and drink some amazing wine.
Charming little vineyard with affordable tastings and lots of history to share! Highly recommend in the Alex region.
Such a gem of a place. Lovely wines, amazing history and restoration.
I had a fantastic visit here. This stop on our Alex wine tour was one of the highlights of my holiday. Pam hosted us for our wine tastings and history of the property and was so knowledgeable. 100% recommend you visit if you have the chance. Make sure you pick up a few bottles of wine on your way out because they only sell at the cellar door!
Delightful experience. Loved meeting Johnny and seeing his historic winery. Beautiful boutique wines of high quality. Very special, small quantity vineyard.
Great vineyard. John told us so much more than just about the wines. A real treat to be shown some amazing history in Alex. Well worth a visit and the wines are great. We will return to see the forge in action. Thank you
Very beautiful vineyard. Antique. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived. It is the owner who came to meet us. He told us about his facilities and the story behind this wonderful project. We could taste some of its products and we bought some.
It is definitely worth a visit.
A must do! $15.00NZ wine tasting and tour of gold rush era buildings and implements. John is enthusiastic about his wine and history. Thanks John from the travl’n Canadians.
John was a great host telling us about the history of his vineyard and suggesting we park our motorhome up on the hill beside the old cottage to appreciate the views and the cool. The wine here is superb as is the semi submerged cellar.
Amazing place! John was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. An absolute bucket list for those wanting to explore the history of the region.
The Pinot Noir was beautiful! Top Class!! 👌
