Reviews of Chamberlain Park Public Golf Course
C.All things considered it's not a bad place to play however, the greens are absolutely awful. The fairways are very average. It is a public course though so that does need to be taken into consideration. It's very cheap and if you are just looking to kill a few hours or are just beginning to learn the game it does the job... just beware of the cross country golfers at times it does seem like you are being bombarded with balls from every direction!
V.Green conditions very dry, cracked and almost unplayable on certain holes which is a shame as they're usually well kept. Groups and cart users need to be monitored, have had groups of 6-8 playing and not letting solo's and pairs play through as well as somewhat intoxicated and inconsiderate cart drivers. Staff are always friendly though and green fees are good.
M.It's a shame the council have imposed restrictions on this wonderful (still 18 hole) course. Some holes have been shortened due to "complaints" from motorists about golf balls - conveniently timed after the council couldn't steal the course for redevelopment.
L.Chamberlain is public golf course very close to the city centre, booking is not required which is very nice.
You can play anytime of the day, just get there pay and tee off.
If you need a cart booking is required as normally big groups play there every weekend.
During the week on summer time they have the twilight deal which is quite nice.
Membership is available and is quite cheap.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, course is very well looked after, it is a sham that the council is planning to reduce the size of the course.
Hope they can find a solution without having to reduce it.

J.They changed the near-to-motorway holes in the middle of fairway, so you can play 18 holes.
However, the green's quality is very poor in several ones.
C.Course is looking in good nick and it'll be great when they're back to 18 holes soon. One issue they should address is large groups. An 8 and a 6 in front makes it a slow round. Realky needs to be policed more.
N.Loved the course. Fairways could use more water as they dry and hard. But really well priced and flat to walk.
C.Good public course as to be expected. Excellent rental clubs. Well frequented. Good staff. Lack of signage makes it quite hard to find some of the tee-offs. Ask your way through. Great morning out.

S.This is a wonderful course well located as a jewel in the centre of Auckland. An asset for all forever if Auckland Council don't destroy it. The staff are excellent and helpful. The course seems to not catch the wind which makes it playable when nearby courses are windblown. It has good natural drainage. The greens are rather average but on a public course they cop a variety of 'usage'. Some of the fairways create a very pleasant environment. Recommended.
R.A great golf course in central Auckland. It is affordable and it is great to see the community supporting dads with their boys able to play together! Golf is for life and dads getting their kids playing are having life long impact! I can think of no better investment by a council!
A.Good public golf course, which is a very rare thing in Auckland, and always very busy; even during weekdays. Full 18 holes with good distance and design. You will need to have a good strategy as well as hit the ball good. Staff members are friendly and knowledgeable, though parking can be quite challenging.
M.Such a wonder asset for the immediate and broader community. People come from all over to experience incredible value golf in an unbeatable location. It's diverse, social and established as an important stepping stone for young and old to enjoy one of the most widely played sports. We don't know how lucky we are to have this course in public hands.
M.Never played golf before but $20 for 9 holes seemed very reasonable. Only costed $5 to hire a trolley to carry your bag on too

J.Place is looking great compared to last season. I like this place as it is easy going, you can just rock up without a booking and it's great value. You won't find a better course in Auckland based on these 3 criteria. It's a little short so big hitters will have a great advantage.

S.Chamberlain Park has just survived being wrecked. This golf course is the only public course south of the harbour bridge and makes golf accessible to anyone. The thought of cutting it up was beyond any form of logic. It’s a brilliant asset to the city and should remain so.

g.Played in the ladies club Christmas Tournament for maybe the last time as a 18 hole event. Felt very sad when considering the changes about to happen to destroy this classic golfing asset. Golfing newbies are not going to have this course to learn the game in a pressure free low cost environment. Will sanity prevail?

H.Perfect for learning to play. Fairways and green are often long but okay. Extremely cheap and quiet on late or very early weekends or on all weekday as long as there isn’t club days etc. staff are very friendly
M.A great public course for beginners with forgivingly wide fairways. It is a very busy course so you are expected to keep up with the pace. A generally enjoyable course bar the potential angst from some tight players.

P.It's a public course so expect your ball to be 'lost' in certain locations. I'm talking about the valley area between fairways 5 and 6 on the front nine. You tee off with a brand new Nike, Titleist or Callaway only to walk down the valley to hit a driving-range ball for your 2nd shot. Who knows what's going on down there...the guys walking up the 6th won't know and that's for damn sure. :)
