Hands down one of the best bars in Auckland. I had a birthday party here with 40 people and the team were awesome to work with! They have plenty of your favourite craft beers, coders and other drinks on tap, with a wide selection of wines and spirits. Food is amazing and reasonably priced, expect seasonal updates to the menu but you'll always find their pizzas and fried chicken which go down a treat. The staff are friendly and always do a great job, they looked after us so well and I couldn't be happier. Well done team!

Great place to catch up with friends. We went for our staff function a few years back and every one was very happy. The food was good, I definitely recommend getting the pizzas. The area was big and spacious for migling. Heaps of seating available and the vibe was just right.

We had lunch at the Fantail and Turtle and were really impressed. The super friendly and efficient staff and great selection of good food turned our scheduled 1 hour lunch into a very relaxing three hour one. Easy to understand why the F and T has such a great reputation.

I can’t get over how much the food exceeded expectations. The eggplant skewers were amazing, i want to go back and try the beef. Good service and observation of covid requirements. Nice one team F&T

I had a great evening here and I thought this was a nice little restaurant. The service was fast and the staff were very friendly. I had a pizza, which was very nice and the restaurant seemed very clean. It was also reassuring to see that the staff were checking everybody's vaccination pass, which helped the evening feel safer. I highly recommend!

Good selection of craft beers. Enjoyed the hand pull Cassels pale ale. The food was very nice. Especially the cerviche. Our only gripe was that the service was patchy. Took a long time for our drinks to be delivered initially. And at the end it was hard to get attention so we could find out how to pay. This could have been because of the Covid table service requirements. But we think they were just not with it. Good food though.

A very cozy place to hang out or have nibbles while waiting for something (I cannot remember what we were waiting for, but we were waiting for something nearby). I enjoyed the Pepperoni pizza and the buttermilk fried chicken. I wish I could've tried more food, but my stomach cannot hold much. I wish it did though. Service is excellent. All in all a very good experience. Highly recommended

Awesome service. Staff were fantastic. We started off outside and in typical Auckland fashion it started to rain. The staff member moved us into a temp reserved area, and when available onto an empty table. The food was delicious too! Will definitely come back again 🙂

Great craft beer selection and good service. Do need to add a gluten free option for the pizzas for coeliacs even if all the bases are house made.

Good little bar sharing open air spaces with other food and drink places. Summer weekdays can be a challenge for parking and food and drink supplies. However i really enjoyed the chicken and pizza bread. Service was good to.

Superb place for a tapas style lunch. I was with friends on a glorious Auckland spring afternoon and we had a relaxed lunch at Fantail & Turtle. Great place to chill, eat and drink and while away the day.

We arrived 9:10pm but we were told they can only do pizzas and chips 😭 (even though there are more items that can be ordered after 9pm as per their menu) thanks to lovely Ana who assisted us with our jalapeño wontons not quite actually sure if it’s the same person who took plenty of photos of us because of the mask 😷 but Ana was great 😊 . Great vibe and service! we got on the house chips too 😃

This place has a beach bar vibe, white 'sand' floors and tree trunk seating, in-door/outdoor retractable roof makes the most of Auckland's blue sky days, and the multitude of heaters and outdoor fireplace(s?) make it toasty warm to enjoy a nice cold beer - well played whoever designed the place.

Great open spaces for a cheeky bevy or two, friendly bar staff. A great selection of brews on tap, with a stylish backdrop that sets the mood.

Cool place, lots of different parts to it. We sat outside under cover in front of the fire on a rainy Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the chefs choice with a couple of the many beers on offer. One suggestion is to offer a tasting selection of local brews - it’s too hard to choose just one.

A fantastic location for a beverage or meal in the sun. A great range of tap beverages and a large selection of spirits and wine. Great bar snacks and full meals too.

Great buttermilk chicken, gravy and slaw in their pop-up drive through at level 3. The spicy sauce is awesome too. Will def be back

Loved the whole vibe of the place. The kai was amazing, especially the shared platter and the Gin menu is phenomenal.

Perfect for friends, fun and food. Inside or out they’ve got great spaces and plenty of craft beer. Oh and the foods amazing.

Great place for a get together. Gin menu looks solid, I was sober on the night but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Even though the music wasn’t my vibe, the dj kept going all night. The staff were great especially for a Friday night, we’d hired out the garden area which was a good area to celebrate our friends birthday. Food was good too. I’d recommend it for sure with plenty of parking spaces nearby too.

We had a surprise party here for our 2 friends that happen to share a birthday. The vegan pizza was delicious, atmosphere was beautiful. We had a fantastic time!!

Fabulous food Chefs platter was awesome. Great service. But they weren't busy. Too cold for people to come out last night. They do have a lot of heaters which does make it nicer. Music was a bit too loud for the smaller crowd that was in. Great Playlist.

Located in the side at the end, Smales Farm the good side is Fantail and turtle they serve bar style food, which is very nice. Really nice indoor outdoor area and on Sundays and other days. They have live music playing as well as DJs. The service is always good and attentive.

Nice selection of vegetarian dishes on the menu. A lovely location and a fireplace for those now cooler nights. Shame the music is so loud. There are so many speakers all around you can't always avoid the noise, but I recommend by the fireplace and inside the restaurant part. Will go again with friends and share plates.

Such a cool vibe at Fantail & Turtle. It was a relaxing and fun atmosphere sitting in the outdoor sheltered area. The staff were bubbly and polite, cocktails were refreshing and not too weak. Food was tasty and well portioned for a platter. It fed 3 of us quite well and we left with happy tummies and livers lol. Definitely a good place to take a bigger group of friends!

New spot but potential to be the best bar in Auckland. Ingredients are all there - world class fitout & great vibe.

I remember when this bar was a paddock Luckily when you're up for some grazing this is the best spot at Goodside, Smales Farm. Get to it and feel like it was 1984.

Fantail and turtle In sales farm on the North shore is great little bar and restaurant. The beers on tap are fresh and really good the menu offers a wide selection of food and which is reasonably priced and the house staff are really friendly and helpful all and all a great dining experience and I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

We had a birthday celebration in the little glasshouse. Such an amazing spot 👌👌👌👌 and yummy food and drinks.

A nice little bar and eatery in the Goodside joint of eateries in Smales Farm. The seating is very rustic and bar styled, which feels nice. The staff are very nice and well conversant. The food menu is on the pricier side, still the quality justifies the prices. Vegetarian and vegan options are limited though. Very ideal for a lunch break catch up or a post work day drinks. Overall highly recommended.

Nice cool spot to have lovely snacks or meal on a hot day. Great selection of gin and beers. We had a selection of small plates and butter milk chicken. All was very tasty. Dont go here if you like bland food. Dog friendly

I recently celebrated my 40th at Fantail and Turtle and would highly recommend it to others that are looking for a a great birthday venue. The The staff were amazing - they were super helpful and really engaging with all my guests. The venue has great food, a wide range of drinks selection and provides a great chilled atmosphere.

Our after work or lunchtime local. Yummy pizzas, great drink selection and super chill atmosphere.. awesome outdoor area! Suitable for small or large groups

Looks like a young person's hang out. Had a DJ playing music on the Saturday about 2ish avo when we popped in looking for food. We ordered a platter. Four of us and a pizza with drinks. Food was good. I felt a little expensive for what it was but it was good food. Good friendly staff who were always looking to help. Nice environment. Set in Smales Farm. Would go back here.

From the gentle and warm aesthetic of this entire food complex to the pleasing, live acoustic background music, Fantail was perfect for our business group lunch. All of the seating appears to be covered, but there's more of an open-walled 'indoor' seating area too for more wind and sound protection. Over the few hours we comfortably sat and chatted about work, we were attended too before we even knew we were ready which was always nice not having to wait. Ordered more than a few tequila sunrises across the group because they went down slow and sweet. Lastly, we all shared an $80 something meat and veg platter which did handled surprisingly well for 6 people. Not all of the greens were dug into, but it was okay all the same.

Takeaways picked up tonight were exceptional! Pizzas were delicious along with some of the best buttermilk chicken and fries we have ever had. All served with a smile and gratitude for our custom. We’ll be back ....

Awesome selection of beers on tap (at least 12 different craft beer options) and a lively atmosphere. Definitely try the fried chicken. The place can get overly busy which slows service down but that's not a major detraction.

Great laid back place with good food and drinks. Easy to get to with plenty of parking in the weekend. Cane here on a Sunday to see the Open Mic night which was excellent.

Delicious food, great service, really friendly staff. We got the brocollini and asparagus, jackfruit and a bowl of fries- all vegan and all really tasty. Highly recommend!

This is a great spot. Great selection of beers. We only had nibbles but they were delicious. As it is mostly outside you’ll need to rug up in the winter, plenty of heaters though. The major annoyance is the sandy (crushed sandstone?) floor, dust everywhere even in the winter, clothes and shoes were filthy. Other than that I would highly recommend.

Great food, most of the staff friendly, bar one. Generally fabulous place for food, drink and atmosphere.

Spent the afternoon yesterday at this lovely spot. This place has amazing beer and great food. Plus the atmosphere is great. However there are a few things that let this place down. The one major thing was the service. I believe it was the manager on that made it this way. She had a long coat on and a scarf so we didn't even know she worked there until she served us. We were there for a couple of hours and only got served once when we were seated. When we went up to order more drinks the guy that served us was really friendly and helpful but the lady came back and was rude and interrupted our conversation for something that could of waited. I did notice that when she left the service and moral picked up as we were regularly checked on by friendly staff for the rest of the night. Minor things was the loud creeky bathroom door, dust all over the leather couches and I was wearing black leather shoes that got really dirty walking through the lime dirt outside. I did enjoy my overall experience so I will be back.

Very nice bar and atmosphere, the staff was very attentive and the variety of beers is incredible. The food was absolutely better than expected for a bar lots of food to share, the ribs and the chicken were amazing but that pizza OMG was one of the best I ever had!! maybe the food was slightly pricey but definitely worth it.

Great sharing plates. Lovely atmosphere. As most of the seating is outside I would suggest you wear warmer clothing. They do have outside heaters and you are under shelter from rain and wind, but it can get a bit chilly. Definitely worth it though.

Nice New eatery, didn't quite hit the spot. Staff friendly, food so so. Some dishes over priced , but main issue was lamb ribs 80% fat. When asked if everything was alright we commented only to get a wonderful explanation that chef was now aware. Same question when paying bill met with sincere apology. A good restaurant would simply take it off the bill no fuss.

The asparagus and broccolini dish was lovely. On tap beer options were good as well. The outside area is nice for a small team lunch (8-10) but probably ok for slightly bigger groups as well. Service was good.

Quick lunch with friends. Nice location, seated easily. Service was ok, would have preferred them to be a little more present as it was Friday lunchtime so time is always pressured so having attentive staff makes a visit anywhere less stressful. Food was fairly quick. Really tasty. Great value. Yum!

We hosted our Christmas party here; and it was just an awesome time. The combination of delicious food (vegetarian friendly!), craft beers and a gin selection second to none made it our best Christmas party yet! The outdoor area is wicked, both in the sun and in the evening under the lights. Looking forward to coming back!

Such a lucky find !! Food was fantastic, especially the buttermilk chicken. Our waiter Chris provided some of the best hospitality service my husband and I have ever received. Friendly, funny and joined in on our chats and made our dinner very enjoyable. Will be back !!!

Nice place. Good food and the portion sizes are very good. Love the range of beers and gobs available. Sick a variety of sitting areas and the staff are very attentive.

Fantastic bar with great food. We went for lunch and the outdoor space was really nice, even in winter. There are a number of heaters and blankets available. The food is designed to be shared and the prices were reasonable.

Great place for a meal. Chilled atmosphere reminscent of the Sawmill Smoko room (without the smoked food though). We had the Romano Pizza and the beetroot salad which were both divine! Good craft beer which changes regularly. They also have a few bar games which our little one loved.

The service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was comfortable. The food was good and the menu interesting. I chose the venue because the menu suggested there were ciders and kombucha to choose from. There was no cider and only 1 kombucha. Most places can do better these days

I simply wish there was more than 5 stars to give.. The Team at Fantail & Turtle are amazing, fun, bubbly, and its a very enjoyable atmosphere. The food is yum and its simply a great place, great people, and fun. :-) Well done Travis and the Team.

Great place to meet with friends after work, so pleased to see my favourite staff from Good for Now - Aroha and Lopa. They are amazing, so friendly and go the extra mile. Some of the other staff, one in particular is quite rude and can leave you sitting there for ages which makes me angry and wonder why they are working in hospitality. A wide range of drinks (including gin) and really good food. Love it now they have done away with the lime flooring, my shoes thank you as do I. Great place to go for lunch on a sunny day as well as after work. Just what Smales Farm needed.

Very nice craft bear and dishes. Perfect for a small function and catch up with friends. The white sand does dirty your shoes though. Lots of free parking and great vibe.

Nice ambience, good for groups, indoor and outdoor spaces. Basic food selection (bar food) but there's a good variety of salads, meals, shared platters etc. Extensive drinks list. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Good venue only gripes are the sound system was just hanging in there and the hand dryers in the toilets are like trying to dry your hands on cat breath 😀 other than that great staff, great vibe 👍 Would recommend!

We have fried chicken, ceviche tacos and squid and McClouds, sawmill and halletau craft beer. A beautiful spot in the sun, reggae music playing, and wonderful attentive service. We enjoyed it immensely, the vibe was just perfect. Great on this beautiful summer’s Sunday.

The food was excellent. The vegetarian platter was very varied. The service could have been a little better.

Great spot, especially over summer, and a great selection of beers . Murry sweetpants was dj’ing the night we arrived and the music was fantastic. The only downside is the food. We chose this place for a casual dinner out based on the great menu. However, the Pizzas were ok but the crust was to doughy for our liking and the bases, whilst cooked properly, were sweaty and chewy on arrival. The hoki croquettes are great and the fried chicken was fine for bar snacks but our chargrilled squid was poor ( a small bowl of small squid pieces covered in liquid which detracted from any chargrill flavour) and the jalapeño wantons were nice but not memorable Will definitely come back but more for the location and drinks menu

Food was so so, only snacky deep fried and pizza, nothing that hit a healthy tick. Gravel floor leaves your shoes dirty. Nice environment though, would love this at home for entertaining. Service was good.

Great new spot, and Steph the waitress is the best! But... since when was it okay to charge SIX DOLLARS for a small bottle of Coke?! Bars shouldn’t be punishing non-drinkers with such massive mark ups.

on a summers evening a great place for a beer and a pizza. this place was very busy on a Friday evening but we had a area reserved for our work function. The aperol spritz was $12.

Enjoyed some lovely wine on a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to a live band next door. Haven't eaten here as yet but friends did on my recommendation and raved about it!

Very relaxed spot. Good staff. Tends to get a brisk wind through the courtyard so dress to the weather. Note.. powdery stone floor in courtyard marked the bottom of my handbag.

Should have more food options (brunch to midday really??). Food is a bit too greasy too but overall better than most.

Love Fantail and Turtles vibe. Travis and James run a tight ship and deliver what they promise which is sweet vibes with their regular entertainment and live music sundays, great selection of beverages and of course delicious bar menu. If you havent been here, its a must try.

Wish they had a beer list at the tables or a least a board with the Taps listed in most areas.
