Reviews of Galbraith's Alehouse
M.
Nice, spacious traditional pub. Great place for traditional English ale. Quality of food fluctuates significantly, but you won't go hungry.
P.
Nice place to go with your friends. Good service. Very good ambiance. The food is just too tasty. Clean bathrooms.
G.
I feel I should have reviewed this place a long time ago. So, here we go! This is a great pub to meet up and have a yarn at. It's not one of those loud pound you lose your voice at and not so quiet it feels weird. Good layout, Good pub food and he garden is good. I'd like Guinness on tap, but you can't always get what ye want and there's enough great beers to make up for it
P.
Love their house brewed ales n good ambience. Easy access to parking n good services.
J.
Other than the passive aggressive comment from the staff member about not reading the sign to be seated, the remainder of the staff provided friendly service and the new menu was a definite improvement from our last visit. Great seating options, the beer garden is epic on a sunny day and the option of a cozy inside when it’s cooler. Good spot all round!
A.
We visit Galbraith's reasonably frequently at night, the food is always good and the service is always excellent.
This was a first visit for lunch for us and the same high standards were met. The Sunday roasts and burgers were all excellent.
B.
Amazing beer garden. Recommend getting jugs for good value and fantastic beer. Fries portions are approaching cruetly they're so small and expensive, but I'll buy them anyway because they go well with the beer.
M.
Great choice of House Ales and Beers. Amazing place with classic vintage feel and ambience. Outdoor seating area is awesome + Inside seating is great too. Great food, nibbles and drinks. Must visit.
B.
Galbraith's has it all - good pub food (a rarity), a great range of tap beers, several of which are brewed on the premises, cosy winter ambience and a lovely outdoor area in summer. An all-round excellent pub experience
R.
Roast on a Sunday - who wants a Sunday roast. Took me a minute to find a place that does a Sunday roast in the CBD (that didn't cost an arm and a leg) and lo and behold I found one! It did the trick and looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Speedy service and great heritage building.
K.
Grand place to spend a sunny afternoon! Staff are fab, beers are on point, and the house gin is thoroughly decent. Food is well above standard pub grub too!
S.
Really good selection of beers. Great beer garden and outside space too. Fast efficient service and really tasty food.
B.
Nice place to stop by for a pint or two and grabbing a few food items. They have beers they brew themselves as well as guest taps which rotate. Order food and drinks at the bar and find a free table.
They do have a few parking spots in the carpark next door, just make sure to get a ticket from the bar if you find a spot. The place is fairly big with an outdoor area. It does get quite loud though especially if it's full.
The food is quite nice but a bit on the pricy side. The triple fried chips are the usual go to.
R.
I have to give this place 5* as food, service and beer were all fabulous plus there’s free parking.
A little on the $$+ side for us but excellent.
So many British style bitter beers to choose from is like to stay for a week! 🍺🥴
K.
Passed it so many times and finally got to go. Very nice meal and great beer. Will be back.
G.
Definitely on AKL's top 20 beer bars for a reason. Haven't been to a place that smelled so much like roasted malt in a long time, as they brew right here on their premises. Food gets QUITE expensive but the atmosphere is something to behold and take in, whether inside or out back in their beer garden.
D.
Iconic Auckland pub in a beautiful building. Great beers and excellent pub grub.
M.
Nice G and T....nice outside area on a sunny day. Staff scanned vaccine passports and all had masks on which made us more relaxed with being in a pub that took health matters seriously.
T.
Found service to be good and food reasonably priced and tasty. In house craft beer worth trying.
A.
Great spot for a beer and a snack after hiking up Mt Eden! Lots of beer options and the wine selection wasn’t too bad either.
We split some fantastic chips to tide us over until dinner, and enjoyed the back patio for a nice break.
The menu looked interesting and there were lots of great smelling options coming out of the kitchen. Definitely worth a stop before or after Mt. Eden!
C.
Came here for drinks and loooove the environment,,, havent tried the food but saw friends order the pie - which looks good! I do see later though that the pastry is half hollow, but would like to try next time!
T.
Delightful pub in the heart of Auckland with ornate architecture and great layout! We went on a busy, rainy Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was family-friendly, staff were polite and engaging and the food was great (for a reasonable price). Would definitely return again and I’m disappointed I didn’t get any photos to share.
On a side note, they clearly label GF options and staff were happy to provide feedback - great.
A.
For was interesting.. service was excellent.. plus this is one of the few pubs I have been to in Auckland that has Parking.. well worth a visit
U.
First time here, went on a Saturday night. Parked in adjacent car park free of charge - just had to give licence plate number at bar. We sat in a quieter section near the toilets. 3 out of 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. Food wasn't served at same time - mine in particular came out quite a bit earlier, so started without my friends. Was disappointed to see the meal I had in mind from the menu online wasn't on the menu there. When queried I was told "we haven't got around to updating our online menu yet". About time they did? Lack of good vegetarian options. Spotted the grumpy barman others have mentioned in previous reviews straight away. It appears he doesn't know how to smile, poor man! Beer garden outside was wonderful. Spacious with plenty of covered seating, and so lovely to sit by the fireplace.
J.
Best traditional Ales outside of the UK.
Make sure you get the Sunday roast too.
Making craft beer since before it was cool.
B.
The beer was delicious and the food was vegetarian friendly (we had the baba ganoush and the burrata and is amazing).
S.
Food and beer were great ,
Portions a bit on the smaller side but quality of the food was on point
G.
Beautiful Lightings! Food was okay!!!!
R.
Galbraith's is probably New Zealand's premium gastropub. In the wonderful venue of an historic Carnegie library it still exudes a truly cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, with extremely good food.
This is a quality experience. I've been going here since it opened and I have never been disappointed.
The best staff who really know their clients. A world aclaimed Brewer!! A truly memorable venue.
P.
Great selection of beer - including some brewed on site (which you can see), local, national, and international, and seasonal. The building is cosy and warm, and has a great pub-like atmosphere. The food is adequate - nothing too flashy, and it doesn't detract from the beer.
B.
Great ale house with a good range of hand pulled pints. The beer garden has had a decent upgrade and looks brilliant. The perfect place to have a drink and relax on a sunny day.
Prices are good and staff are friendly. Highly recommend.
B.
Great english styled pub, with a hot fire and cosy inside. The pub food was great, and we loved the beer and meal we had. My friends really enjoyed the place, and the service was great from the staff. They really made our time here enjoyable, a great place to chill out with friends.
C.
I come here on a regular basis as it's around the corner from the office. They have great on premises brewed beer and recently added a great cottage style courtyard at the back right in time for summer.
G.
A great...... even brilliant place to stop in for a beer
V.
Great beers. Good food. Awesome service.
J.
excellent service. interesting beers on tap and great food offerings.
P.
Its great to find somewhere in Auckland that does cask ales. It may not be everyones taste but really when you can enjoy a real beer in a great place, its hard to beat. Food is great, great service, and great beers.
J.
Food is nice but not quite as good as it used to be a couple of years ago (miss those triple cooked chips). The beer is excellent and few pubs in NZ can compete with a building like the old library. New garden is fantastic.
M.
Loved it here. Home brewed beers, reasonably priced. Friendly staff and the locals were very welcoming. Had food here as well, which was great. A good, varied menu and very quick service.
D.
Great beer and food, amazing staff that are always friendly. On top of all that there is the Gin Bar out in the Garden area which is a awesome place to spend a sunny day.
Why would you want to go anywhere else?
J.
Great selection of beers! Good food & atmosphere too. Friendly staff as well.
S.
Great variety of beer in a really classic old style pub
P.
Tasty food - pretty high standard for a pub and good selection.
G.
Good juicy burger and interesting selection of beers.
A.
Great to have some familiar ale, pleasant beer garden
R.
Great selection of beers. Good new beer garden out the back, some of it covered. Good old school big pie. The crowd looks like where the train spotters go when the station is closed.
D.
One of my favourite places in Auckland. Reminds me of London pubs and always has a great atmosphere. I little pricey, but you get what you pay for, which is always satisfying.
F.
Great beer. Awesome beer garden
A.
Friendly, occasionally cheeky staff with a ready smile. Excellent craft beers and a menu with just enough choice in it to please the majority. Galbraith's is a lovely old character building, and in my humble opinion, perfect for a couple of quiet ones with friends and family
B.
Great atmosphere, food and drink selection
G.
I've not been here for ages and was a nice surprise to see they've extended out the back and made a lovely beer garden! It was nice sitting there today in the sun with a pint of cider! And lovely Sunday roast as always 😋
M.
Great pub, amazing but expensive beer. The food is very nice as well.
A.
Nice meal, good service, but Steep steps leading up to door; needs handrail. I've had a double hip replacement (not elderly) and I had to walk close to the wall round the front edge of the building as I went down the stairs. Nothing to hold onto. It felt precarious.
M.
Great atmosphere, awesome service. Would recommend 👍
C.
This is the old Mt Eden Library building with a lot of character.
For years now it's been a brewery of ales with lots of character and a place for a good meal.
Try it. You'll enjoy it.
D.
Galbraith's never disappoints.
Great beer, more English style, ale and bitter, served warmer than most other places.
Beer brewed locally on site and available for takeaway.
Great choice of standard pub meals.
Standouts are: fish, steak and chips and bangers and mash
Bookings available, advisable for groups as it gets busy during popular times.
Friendly and efficient staff
S.
Great selection of beers and a good atmosphere
C.
Great mix of classic English beers, modern beers with a nice atmosphere. The bar staff are always happy and helpful with good knowledge of what the latest is on tap. Good snacks as well.
M.
Great selection of not only their house brew but guest beers too. Good old fashion ale house with big wooden tables. I wish there are many more ale house like this in Auckland. Good place to hang out with bunch of mates and smash couple pints. Food is okay.
J.
Best roast with Yorkshire puddings and gravy
K.
Gorgeous, historical architecture in Auckland, New Zealand. We passed by while walking around Auckland to take in the sites and just had to go in because of the architecture. It was a pleasant, very roomy restaurant and brewery, high ceilings with outdoor seating as well. We had a delicious lunch of fish.... Service was very good and the atmosphere friendly. A great place to visit again & again.
N.
The original temple of beer pilgrimage, the vanguard of the New Zealand Craft Beer Enlightenment. The epicenter, fount, well spring and navel of the Auckland beer scene.
Go pay obeisance to the classic trinity of Bell Ringers Bitter, the Bitter and Twisted and Bob's Porter.
This ancient building of classic aspect, the former Grafton public library, has been, phoenix-like, reborn to educate generations of beer drinkers to the joys of beer existing beyond the limited grasp of fizzy tasteless lagers.
M.
3 years ago I said "Good food and beer if a little pricey" After dinner last night I would give them 6 stars. The Gin cocktail recommended was divine and is my wife's new favourite. The food was amazing and the guest beer was amazing. Really enjoyed or night out and would go again in a heart beat.
T.
Love this place, such great vibe. The garden outside in the summer is just lovely. They brew their own beer on site and you can see some of the barrels etc from where you're sitting. Good stocky pub food. And the bar pretty much has all the drinks and cocktails you can think of.
M.
A lovely place to come for a family lunch with their roasts on a Sunday. Friendly, helpful service with a good range of beer and wine. Seating choices indoors in front of a fire on a cold day, or outdoors on a warm sunny day make this a great place to dine. This place is always well frequented, no matter what time you come, so make sure you are early to avail yourself of the free parking.
S.
Had their Sunday roast with the family and we loved it! Cocktail of the week was yummy too. Nice and clean spot to stop for a drink or two.
M.
This place has a great atmosphere and the food range is pub grub through to restaurant quality meals. The best thing about Galbraiths is the beer. Not only do they brew their own on the premises, they have guest beers from around the world on tap. Also a great selection of bottled beer. I have been a regular here for 20 years and recommended it for friends and family gatherings. Even just by yourself.
B.
Great range of beers and the food is really good too. Nice relaxed atmosphere and very handy to The Powerstation if you are in to live music.
P.
Lovely alehouse, good solid bar food, great selection of beer both brewed on site or from a number of interesting craft breweries. Plenty of options for non Beer drinks as well, and a knowledgeable team of bar staff to assist. Good atmosphere and great for small functions.
S.
great beer, brewed in-house. you can even view their brewing facilities. they have a huge selection of craft from around the country and abroad as well. massive space, great for groups and the food is good. i recommend the polenta fries
J.
Great beers (not just the standard mass-brewed rubbish) brewed on-site and bought in. Food is reliably good, and definitely the higher end of pub grub. Atmosphere is warm and peaceful, with only the hum of happy customers talking...at normal pitch because they're not competing with loud music. And there's space! Something lacking in so many pubs/bars. This has been my 5-star go-to pub for years.
R.
If you like your Ale (as opposed to gassy beer) then you will love this place. Just like a good British pub, with beer brewed on site and very good food, all reasonably priced. If you're visiting from the UK, then this place will make you feel at home!! (that's a real compliment)
B.
Lots of great beers on tap always a new craft beer to try. Food is good and staff are friendly. It's often busy at lunchtime and in summer the small outdoor area is hard to get a table.
T.
5 stars not enough. Best beer in southern hemisphere. We have something very special here in Auckland. and that's before you consider great food as well and a price that suits. I'm not sure I should recommend this place as I want it be my front room!
M.
Good service with a variety of different beers. Well worth visit. The new outdoor beer garden is fantastic.
R.
Always an excellent selection of superb beers, and pretty good bar food. Can get pretty busy at times, but staff are super professional and seem to handle the pressure very well. A great atmosphere, lovely building.
B.
I've always liked this place, old world character, with old world beers and new world beers. Great food and as I discovered a new lawn bar. Galbraith's just got better.
H.
Nice vibe and beer. The food is also great!
R.
Enjoyed the place and will be returning. Food service and surroundings were great.
Unfortunately they let themselves and their customers down by having an EMPTY soap dispenser in the Gents toilet. It looked as though people had been trying to wrest out the last little drop as it was skew whiff and in danger of falling off the wall.
Not good in today's environment.
G.
Without a doubt the best beer in New Zealand.
Deep, wholesome flavours that satisfy primeval needs.
The food is a little pricey and precious but that changes whenever a new chef arrives. and the hearty basics are still available.
S.
Nice bar. Beer prices are eye watering. The 400ml ($11.50) glass is so thick that it weighs more than the liquid in it. If the beer portion was an imperial pint it would cost $16.30 for a 'proper pint' of 5% beer. More than double the UK equivalent.
R.
Great food and great beer, combined with great British pub style ambiance. Top place to enjoy our lunch today.
R.
Great selection of their own beer as well as a range of guest taps. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was a little limited but very good pub fare. Enjoyable evening.
S.
Best beer in Auckland (Rurik). Food used to be excellent but seems like the standard has dropped a bit. Apart from that its a great place, will definitely come back for the beer and maybe not for food.
A.
Great Beers (craft and regular) as well as a good selection of other drinks and cozy atmosphere (Fire places and beer hall style tables). Would recommend booking a table at night times. 1 Vegan option (Burger - cheese) the Fries are amazing - Wish they will bring back the Tofu salad. Loving the guest beers (Marshmallow Stout)
N.
If you like an English real ale this is the place for you. Bellringers is a top ale though there are others to choose and several guest lagers etc. Had not been here for a while but will be coming back soon.
S.
One of Auckland's few independents, and a brewery as well. Lovely old building which used to be a library, full of light. Great craft beer selection. The good I've had here has always been delicious.
M.
Very good pub! There is a nice beer garden at the back. Wide variety of craft beers from small breweries. Don't forget to try their own in house brewed beers. The whole place looks very historical which us very cool! The staff is very friendly, too!
B.
Superb service and fantastic beer :)
T.
This place is a good reliable pub with a semi-rustic aged feel. It's large. It has good beer. I brews some of it's own beer. While I haven't tried the food, locals tell me it's very good.
C.
Great service and selection of beers and ales, warm environment with old school English pub interior.
D.
I have been to Galbraiths a total of 6 times over the last 4 years. I would say the bar staff are luke warm friendly at best. They aren't outright rude to you, but in a way a little bit condescending if you don't know your beer and they have to explain the difference to you. It's like a chore for them. I'm sure that's not all staff, but just my experience so far. Food is good. Menu doesn't change much so you're safe in that regard. There are better places near by, but if you want a pint of warm beer and a feed, then this is the place for you.
V.
Love this place! Its all about beers for me. And you would think that since its an Alehouse the food will be ignored. But thats now the case at all.
They have good variety of fries (I always go for skinny fries). Fish and Chips are awesome (but you cant really go wron with them). They also have specials that change every day Soups, Salads, etc.
Pretty cool place!
A.
Another must stop for anyone into craft beer on a visit to Auckland. This famous pub is still very true to its roots, with a very traditional interior and of course cask beers! Outside of the fantastic beers brewed on sight (whether they be cask ales or not) there is always a great range of beers available. Food is also fantastic with heightened bar food, a great example of a gastropub that still has a view on tradition.
I.
I don't generally go into pubs/bars, having pretty much become teetotal over the years, and anyway I feel that these places are just too expensive nowadays.
However, I have taken friends and clients to the Galbraith's Alehouse because the quality of their typically British pub food is first-rate and their real (live) ales, which are professionally brewed onsite, are the best I have ever come across in New Zealand.
For real ale fanciers, one very good reason for visiting Auckland would have to be to sample a few of the Galbraith ales. They even give you a sampler tasting tray to sample 5 of their ales for comparison.
Highly recommended.
F.
Celebrated 30 years of TV3 with crew, production, presenters, advertising, basically everybody who gets involved in running a TV station. Hospitality of bar and restaurant staff were awesome in managing our group. We thoroughly enjoyed the day at Galbraith's.
K.
Had a pleasant meal in here with three fellow dinner. Enjoyed the view of the on site brewery, nice to see how made on a local scale. The hardest thing was choosing which beer to accompany my wild boar burger !
Beware that the alehouse gets very busy if the local venue is hosting a gig
H.
Large selection of tasty craft beers
Friendly staff
Pub atmosphere
Tasting tests with a friend is fun
Great food!
Interesting old building where they brew on-site famous beers!
Newly covered outdoor area with log fire
Rugby games on the big screen
T.
Mint beer garden, great beers, watch out for the warm ones
M.
Visited twice in two days.
Our dinner was spoiled by our order getting lost in the kitchen and it was discovered after 35 minutes (we should have enquired earlier!). Even after the delay was brought to their attention, it still took another 25 minutes for two simple meals to be served.
Since my last visit 10 years ago or more, this seems to have morphed into a "quiet local" for middle-aged to senior customers.
House-brewed beers are varied and interesting.
Exclusive parking spots for customers in the large public car park next door.
J.
Lots of seating. Great selection of beers on tap. Surprisingly good steak meals. No table service but getting served at the bar doesn't take too long.
J.
Friendly service. Plenty of beer. Kids meal (cheese buger) was funny size. (small) like they cut the burger with a cookie cutter. My venison burger was good though and their shoe string chips amazing.
S.
Best selection of cask conditioned ales, very well kept. Good pub grub menu, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Love this place!
S.
Best pub in Auckland. They are also a brewery and their craft beer is amazing. They also order in craft beer from all over the world, so there's always something new to try. The food is really dulling and delicious.
M.
Congrats to the Galbraiths team. We arrived last night for dinner without a booking. We were graciously looked after. Fabulous service by staff who know what hospitality is about. Fabulous craft beer. Yummy small plates. Great friendly atmosphere. Five stars
P.
Brilliant ales if you like real ales. Normally easy parking, as staff are good. Great Sunday roasts, just needs to be a little more kid friendly. Alternatively, that may be the charm of the place for regular patrons
C.
Top spot for a cold one, a pale one, a dark one or any one you can imagine. Always a good time whenever been there. Great beer and food. Really nice to drop in on a wet cold day and have a beer by the fire. One of Auckland's best pubs.
J.
Had a wonderful meal at Galbraith's last night. Beef cheeks, pork belly, braised buttercup and beans. So delicious! And beautiful beer to wash it all down. Thanks for being a wonderful gastro-pub.
K.
Almost an institution. Good food and drinks range. Limited parking. Good place to meet friends. Watch out for the warm and flat tap beers though. Barmaid reckons they should be like that and wouldn't exchange mine.
A.
Good place for a beer and a catch up. Food is a bit expensive and the menu can be a bit ho hum but the beer selection makes up for it. Staff are friendly and the place is always clean and tidy. It's a nice place to visit in winter as it's as cosy as your lounge at home
G.
Actual real ale! Sunday roast is fantastic. Good cut of beef with all the proper trimmings at an... OK Auckland price. Highlight of the Auckland beer mile
W.
Great food and beer nice atmosphere good for catching up with friends
K.
Discovered this place on my walk from Auckland CBD to Mt Eden . Stopped for a beer and they had a nice selection of beers. Looks like a popular spots for a diverse crowd.
T.
Now this is a class building, it immediately envokes fun, it's bizarre and beautiful, and there's more beer selection than you can deal with, look for the $22 Mc leods beer, superb, soul berry sour, dam nice place, great joy , bar man knows his stuff aswell .
A.
A fab old pub with very nice beers. I'd recommend the Bob Hudson with bangers and mash. ( There are less peas now tho? )
However. The staff seem to be becoming ever more surly. Especially the young blond woman who provides a decent sneer with a curt follow through. I noticed Galbraiths is becoming ever more quiet. That should be warning bells for management. Five stars for what it was. Two stars for what it's becoming.
R.
Good bar nice selection of ales, Sunday roast isn't bad too
S.
Nice pub with great food
J.
Historic pub. Large range of beer, including select craft beers, their own in house brewery and an extensive range of Gin. Food is tasty and prompt. Interior is classic cosy pub, separate quietier dining area with views of the brewery. Outdoor seating off street is available for nice days and us filthy smokers. While 'Gallies' offers a premium set of products, and service, it can be expensive. Premium comes with a price.
J.
If you are looking for great beer, amazing pub food and a traditional, quality, pub atmosphere, then come here. Great for families too. Sunday lunch is to die for. Keep up the amazing work team!!!
D.
Cool looking pub, with great atmosphere and unique beers. It still has that laid back vibe that makes you feel a bit like you've just stopped in small town New Zealand for a cheeky pint at the local pub. Fuse that with the funky beer selection brewed in-house and good range of decent pub food and you get an excellent place to come with friends and socialise over some interesting beersies.
G.
The bar has a strange energy is the best way I can describe my numerous visits over time. I personally do not enjoy the experience but others around me seem to so they must be doing something right. Food is the standard bar fare as are the drinks. Service is what one would expect in a bar.
O.
Really nice place.. amazing food, great staff!! Proper taste of English pub food, with a great pint of ale too, brewed in house.. definatly worth a trip to eat!
N.
We really enjoy Galbraiths, it has 2 outdoor areas 1 smoking 1 non smoking, their own brewed-in-house craft beers on tap as well as a range of other craft beers. Mains go for around $20, bar snacks for $10.90, they do great fish and chips, tap beers around $11
M.
Great range of brewed-on-premise English-style ales plus an increasing range of keg beers, guest taps, bottled beers. Awesome selection of gins. Good food & friendly atmosphere.
S.
Sunday roast was nice but average. Overpriced for what you get in my opinion. But the Yorkshire puddings were amazing! And service was really good too
N.
Possibly my favourite place to drink in Auckland. A great selection of craft beers that change often. A sunny deck area out the back for summer and a fireplace inside for winter
H.
First Kiwi pub I ever had the pleasure of coming to after moving to New Zealand in 2011. It was packed to the gills with loud, happy people—I look forward to this same level of non-social-distancing when we all come out on the other side of this pandemic!
S.
Love this place. Excellent real British pub feel. If you're after a proper UK style ale, you just can't get better than Bob Hudson's Bitter. Bangers & Mash are always a winner too.
G.
Nice selection of ale/beers, and even tastier shoestring fries. Great place to gather up with friends and enjoy a few drinks.
M.
The baked potatoes are actually out of this world, awesome toppings and paired with a really nice Lager- nothing better. The mrs got the wedges with crispy bacon bits and sour cream, she reckoned that was pretty good too.
P.
Great atmosphere (authentic pub feel) big range of beers, food always good (freshly cooked, not warmed up) and staff always friendly and helpful. On my go to list for good evening.
N.
Great pub, with an amazing selection of beers. Go there quite regularly with my friends and never not had a good time. Great food and staff as well.
K.
Nice big open space, well lit and mean selection.
Only downer was my mate getting grief for asking for peppermint tea. It's a pub, so he probably should've expected a bit of stick. But they had green tea and Earl Grey. Don't think Peppermint was much of a stretch.
So as long as you're not expecting herbals, top notch.
R.
I don’t know what’s better the beer or the staff. Everyone’s so friendly and are happy to recommend what to drink. Don’t forget to check out the patio it the back...perfect place to chill out with some mates.
L.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Free parking for customers (definitely a plus in central Auckland). Craft beers are a little bit expensive
C.
Cast conditioned real ale served at the right temperature within 10m of the brew house and as good as any you'll get anywhere in UK. Duck fat chips a real treat. Highly appreciated and recommended.
B.
Service, food and beer is all good. They brew their own beer and have great knowledge in this field. Large public carpark just on the corner.
A.
Awesome selection of beers. The place has a real English pub feel, service is awesome and the food was really tasty too! Great for large groups.
D.
Great old pub. Make their own craft beers and have a wonderful outdoor area.
C.
Great bar. 3rd stop for us on Fresh Hop 21. Heading back next week!
V.
Many local sorts of beers. Nice atmosphere, definitely worth to visit if you are after some beers
A.
A real English pub with real English ale brewed on site. If English ale isn't your thing, they have a dozen or so nz and international craft beers on tap. The beer garden is also very nice on a sunny day.
C.
Beautiful English style pub with open fire and hand pulled ales. Tasty pub grub and a great vibe even on a Monday night. The local folkies were practicing in the foyer..
C.
Great place for after work drinks. It's very popular with the companies around the area. There's a nice selection of beers including the ones brewed on-site.
G.
A good selection of craft beer, friendly service (a pleasant surprise after reading other reviews) The beers are delicious but my dad reckons the bitters aren't really British style like the menu makes out.
M.
Well, would like to have had lunch and reviewed, but they were closed despite posted hours. No answer on phone and no signage for special closing today. Perhaps next time.
D.
Not many vegetarian options but a great place to chill out with friends. Super friendly staff, great beer and cool architecture. Kids are welcome.
D.
Once again didn't dissapoint, the fish and chips a big winner and can't go wrong with the burgers. Very good selection of visiting breweries...
c.

A++. Definitely will be coming back in future.

Very pricey beer and food. Wasn't too impressed. It was a busy Friday evening so may be better at other times
P.
Top on all marks beers the best, food delicious, service always tops, atmosphere like dropping into old England but better. I’ve been a regular for many years and you just can’t beat it.
C.
Nice place, nice people. Good food, good beer. The bangers and mash are a bit peppery though
d.
Not just yer ordinary beer. Brewed on premises. Beautiful clear tangy beer. None finer in N Z. All natural, no preservatives. I could drink one now!
Bob Hudson...Keith Galbraith.....Salute!
Nice decore too
N.
A little slice of England. Great atmosphere, superb house beers, decent guest taps and nice food to boot. Great for a quiet night with the boys or even a family dinner
M.
Love this pub. Food prices can be a little steep but it is a great place to sit by the fire and try a new craft beer.
R.
Best english-style beer in NZ imo and a great place for very well made pub food.
J.
There comes a time in your life when you realise that IPA is a sad excuse for a pint and you're too old for lager. In fact, you hark back with misty (and possibly rheumy) eyes to that pint of Mild from ye olde country. But where to acquire such a thing in the brave New World? Enter, stage right, Galbraiths. Cue applause. A pint of Bob Hudsons if you're driving, Bellringers if you're not, or Bitter & Twisted if your boss is likely to be understanding in the morning. Outstanding. A Mt. Eden institution since ages ago, and deservedly so.
E.
Fantastic food and fabulous beer! Love how they serve the "cask conditioned ales" at certain temperatures; the menu great and the quality is excellent.
