Garrisons is always easy. Easy place to get to and there is plenty of parking. The atmosphere is fun and staff are friendly and efficient. This place is great for large and small gatherings and the outside seating has heaters for the colder evenings. Food and drinks are good too. Pizzas are yummy. This place is a little more on the pricy side..

Really looking forward to a meal out after a long day, and Garrisons was okay, but nothing really that good.$187.80 for 3 x entrees, 4 x mains and 5 x drinks. Tables are sticky, doesn't appear to be any order to the wait staff areas or roles (nothing to define the staff from the patrons). The nacho chips didn't appear to be warmed before toppings applied, as they were cold by the time they got to the table, most of the chips underneath so about half were soggy. Fish was good but chips were over cooked. Not sure about going back, maybe to meet friends for a drink (as it's really handy) but not dinner.

Food was good, really enjoyed the wontons and ribs. (Forgot to take photos of ribs) Staff were attentive and food was out within a reasonable time despite it being busy. The steak I thought was over priced. Would come here again.

The platter was great, lots of variety and stacked. The 10hour 1kg ribs were good, plenty of meat and sauce. Only challenge was the medium rear scotch steak, came out medium well in colour, however the taste was perfect.

Had a beautiful dinner with our youngest. My daughter and I had the steak which was cooked to perfection- thanks chef and my husband had the fish n chips, and to top it off dessert. Thanks to our lovely waitress who had a smile for everyone and with the place being so full she even stopped on our way out to say goodnight now that makes all the difference. We’ve been here a few times now and the staff have been so obliging- thank you for giving our long weekend a great start.

We had great service but the food is lacking. Cheap salt and pepper squid as it was soggy and the batter not crispy (packet bought?). Would've been better if you battered your own squid, smaller portion of like 5 and served it with an easy salad. Instead of having to buy a side salad for an extra $9.

Been here for First table. Be ready to have your ID (my friend didn't have her passport and they had to seat us inside). Food won't surprise but also doesn't fully disappoint. Cheesy garlic bread was nice. Onion rings were a bit bland. Got a sirloin steak, well cooked. Loud ambiance but very nice and fast staff.

Though the place was remarkable, the food is amazing! There is this one staff who approached me who was very rude to me, i was insulted. I dont want to elaborate more. Just make sure your staff is okay and have enough rest.

Came here for lunch, special at $15 for item. The staff guided us to the table, gave us the menu, asked whether it's tap water we want or sparkling water. I said tap water it's just fine, then she never came back............. Ordered from another staff, and it took about 30 mins before foods were delivered to our table. Food is nice, but the Seafood Chowder is way too salty. Not sure I would recommend this restaurant to the others, maybe good to go once in a while.

Service here is always nice and a great selection of drinks. Sadely over the last 2-3 years food has only gone down hill. It's much more pub grub now than a house that serves restaurant quality food. But if your looking for a snack and a bite to eat while at slyvia this place is perfect. Nice out door area too. Bring the love back into the food and this place will be tops again, as this is heavily shown in your other reviews now too.

It’s been a while since I last visited Garrisons and following a shopping excursion and low fuss decision between 3 on where to dine and wine, it was an easy choice. I hadn’t seen the renovations since their rebranding late last year and the dining section looks fantastic and stylish, not to mention light. Our waiter was very attentive and efficient and we ordered 2 lots of the Chicken Supreme with Asian greens served with sweet soy and a beef burger and fries. The food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner even we were well watered ales and Pinot noir. Highly recommended!

The staff there are super attentive and accommodating, especially since I went with a large group of 10+ people. Atmosphere was great, however the food was below average. I don't think any one in my group rated their meal above a 5. Lots of potential but their bland, under seasoned food lacked any punch. I always order ribs when it's on the menu and this was the first time I've ever been disappointed. Super dry, under seasoned and their sauce tasted like plain BBQ sauce from a bottle. On the plus side, whatever sauce they offered with the fish and chips was actually pretty tasty! Definitely go for a drink but not if you want a meal.

This place was very packed when I went with a group of friends, luckily one of us called a day or two in advanced and booked a table.. The food was amazing, I had the beetroot salad and shared the mack and cheese.. Freaking yumm! Staff were very good and helpful.. Overall great place..

Had ribs and the #6 pasta. Ribs were basically falling off the bone and well marinated. Marinade is sweet and suits the ribs perfectly. Pasta was creamy and had good portions of mushroom, bacon and chicken. Overall an excellent experience, they were attentive to us even though they were busy and very friendly. Prices were average and what you would expect for the amount of food. I don’t expect food to be well dressed at a pub/restaurant venue but the meals were well dressed and looked very appealing. Extremely pleased with the service time, busy day and less than 30 minutes wait on food, drinks were out within minutes of ordering. Thanks for the excellent experience Garrison!

Good local pub. Friendly staff. Also look like they’re enjoying working there which is nice to see especially the bouncer opening doors for everybody and dancing away, really lifts the mood! Would give five stars if they got rid of that awful Straw Island wine they have as the house wines. That stuff is putrid. Couldn’t drink it, had to take it back. Apparently they can’t take it off because they’re part of a co-op but hopefully the staff warn people lol cos it’s so so bad!

Food is good one problem but not really the fault of the venue is that since it’s winter there is no avocado, I ordered a pizza with avocado and there was guacamole instead not only did this lowkey ruin the flavour of the pizza buy making my avocado taste like chilli lemon and lime it also caused the places on the pizza where the guacamole was spread to become incredibley soggy so Probally give customers a heads up before this happens otherwise 10/10 :D

The only pub I have ever felt comfortable in, other than O'Hagan's in the city. Good staff, who have mastered the skill of diplomacy, as our group was there from 4pm until closing time, and the staff never pushed us out but were polite the whole time. The bar prices were standard for Auckland, and I only drank juice any way, which is $4.50 per glass. I had my favourite Pork Belly dish at around $16. You can also order pizza at around $22-24 to share with your mates. They have Sky so you can watch your league / rugby / boxing live! Good for sports finatics.

Can't really say much about this place. Was only here for an hour and a half. But I will say that their $25 export gold jug was very good. Tables and chairs a nice and spacious and the overall layout/look of the place was 10 out of 10. Would definitely go back

I think this place is a fair 3 star. You have to give credit for getting the food out quickly even when busy and having some great ribs and the best kumara fries in town. Where they let themselves down was the music is louder than any night club on K road. Good luck trying to have a conversation and the waitstaff complaining to us about being overworked doesn’t make for a good atmosphere.

It is my birthday today and my first time here. I opted for a light lunch which was the squid. It was the best squid I've ever had. Perfectly cooked too. I had a tiger beer on tap which was also really good. The service, atmosphere, everything so good. It was really good to see other people in and their meals all looked superb. I will be back and will highly recommend this place to everyone I know. Thanks for making this an awesome birthday for me. 😊

Great food and hospitality as always. We come up from the Waikato several times a year to dine with them,and never regret it. Today we had the lovely Eden as our waitress, she was lovely and very tolerant of our 3 children that all wanted to be big kids and do their own orders. Would definitely recommend.

It was ok. Staff were friendly and the service was prompt. My only issue was that the smell from the smokers outside kept wafting in. That was unpleasant. I wonder if there is a better way to allow smokers to indulge without making non smokers breathe in the vile smoke? Otherwise it was ok.

No welcome on arrival - barely an acknowledgment. Would have given more stars if the staff were friendlier to customers. Gained a star for asking my feedback on the dessert. I have it and they took it well. Give them a try but expect the younger staff to be in need of some charm.

The loaded curly fries with the mushroom and blue cheese option - YUM! Great location if you want somewhere neutral. Parking can be an issue in certain days.

One of the staffat the bar counter tld me they cant makr ice mocha any more arnd 9pm but the guy at the counter he made sure its gonna get done and it was served . We had a table of 9 and ordered the large platter with sides of fries and a couple of the pizza breads. The food was delicious and although the platter was recommended for 4-6 people, with our extra sides we were easily able to feed our table. The staff were amazing. I eat here very frequently and usually enjoy their food and their service. It’s only 3 stars because I chose to order the fish and chips this time, of which I do not recommend. The fish was rubbery and bitter, also had a foul taste to it. The tartar was nowhere near a tartar, more so a glorified aioli than anything else. Drinks and bar service was great. Floor staff today seemed rather lack lustre and avoidant.

Awesome set-up (spacious with screens in every corner!) especially if there's a fave game on. Classy and delish! the food came out quickly and hot, service was superb (maybe I'm biased because my friend works there). The seafood chowder was so tasty though it could do with some more seafood bits in the meal :) Value for money!

8Apr17 7:30PM Had a superb dinner here with my wife tonight. We sat outside in the no smoking area so once we'd chosen our courses I had to go back inside to the bar and place our orders .. but it was quick and no trouble because the young barman was switched-on and alert. My pork belly dish and my wife's twice cooked lamb rump dish should have taken 20 minutes to prepare but it was more like 15 minutes. Both dishes were superb .. and that's being conservative with our praise. Nice, attentive, but not pushy staff. Garrison's gets a rare five-star rating from me on first encounter.

The only negative thing was that after we were served our food we realised we had no cutlery serviettes or salt and pepper on our table and had to go and find our own. We came in for lunch on Father’s Day. Lively ambience with a live band and excellent customer service. Lunch was a total delight. We had the Harvest Board Platter, Mustard Lamb Rump, Ultimate Pork Ribs and the Chargrilled Flank and we couldn’t fault it. Well done guys and Keep it up. :-)

The location is good and the environment is good. We ordered kiwibuger and 1kg pork chops, both of which are large in quantity, but the burger steaks are a bit old and may be a little longer to fry. The ribs are similar to lonestar, but The meat quality is not perfect. Maybe I will come here next time, but I will not come here on purpose.

I really enjoyed the great customer service, always had someone to come along and ask how we were at our table every 5 mins or so!!! First time at Garrison's was great! I was looking for recommendation on the sweetest cider available! Alicia recommended the Strawberry & lime, which was fantastic. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our last minute dinner plans on Easter Sunday to celebrate my Mum's birthday (she had just arrived into Auckland). And although it was a public holiday and the kitchen staff wanted to get away early, all the staff were very accommodating to ensure we all had a good celebration. A big thank you, especially to LJ who went over and beyond the call of duty to ensure our night was superb. Excellent customer service and I will definitely be back!

Awesome place to chill with friends over a few drinks or even go for dinner. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Very spacious and they even have a great outdoor seating area. Had lunch here today with a friend. I had the Beef Nachos and the Dessert of the day which was creme brulee, raspberry compote and French vanilla ice cream. My friend had the prawn twisters, kumara fries and the same dessert. Lovely big serve of Nachos, with guacamole, sour cream, a few jalapeno peppers and a cheesy sauce. Plenty of meat sauce and accompaniments so you weren't overwhelmed with corn chips and nothing to have with them. The dessert was just enough to finish it off nicely. My friend's prawn twisters each contained a lovely big prawn and then a spring roll wrapper twisted around it so it looked like it was on a skewer. Serving was between 6 & 8 twisters. Came with a dipping sauce. Small bowl of orange kumara fries with a dipping sauce. Table service was very quick and friendly helpful staff. Only downside was no spoons came with dessert so I had to go and ask for them. All in all, a great place for lunch with friends.

One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland! (And I love visiting new restaurants) the ribs and the pizza are usually the go-to (however I've tried many items on the menu and haven't found any which I dont like). The meat is so tender and perfectly cooked on the ribs that it quite literally slides off the bone. The pizzas are amazing and flavorful, the most recent one I tried was the roast pumpkin and lamb pizza which was amazing, especially when you bite into the melt in your mouth lamb which covers the pizza. Not to mention the best kumara chips in New Zealand !!

Used to be good but now the food is bad and small. Had the pasta of the day with chorizo, there was so little of it, the meal could have been vegetarian. It also contained inedible stalks and the mushrooms had been left in huge (half a top) chunks leaving them poorly cooked. The pasta has also shrunk, they have changed the plate size and there is only about 2/3 to 1/2 as much as before. Not a bad thing in this instance but dissapointing for the future. The one thing that saves them is their wait staff who are courtious and attentive or at least were on this occasion. Edit: On another visit for quiz the chicken burger has also gone down hill, what looked like a freezer burnt bun with grey chewy chicken. These used to be great, the pizza and steak seem to still be good so hopefully the rest can be revived. Please bring back the quality, and the rest of the pasta.
