Friendly place.
Jason the landlord welcomed me and later sat down for a chat with me and friends.
Like a proper pub, your local where people are pleased to see you.
Excellent food, friendly staff, looked after very well.
I can see why it’s my mates local.
H. P.Had lunch here. Very good service and nice environment. Braised pork belly is a little soft; pizza of the day is good. Fish and chips for kid. And brownie and coffee too. Average $30 each adult
J. M.Haven't been to the Horse and Trap for ages, but it has a good selection of food and beers and the prices are ok.
The ribs were a big serve & other family had the roast lamb, which was apparently very good.
Two fires inside made it a warm & welcome respite from the cold night outside.
T. D.Loved the downstairs function area, great size for around 30- 50 people utlising the outside area as well. Finger foid was great too
G. W.Great place for a Sunday lunch, especially when it's sunny. Indoor/outdoor flow and friendly staff who came to check up on our group quite often. For the food, the plates are generous and the ribs or sandwiches looked the best, although the quesadilla was made with ingredients a little too different for me to enjoy it as much as my mate's plates haha. The train goes by every 5 min or so but isn't too disturbing outside at all. Decent bit of street parking at least when it's not busy. We'll surely come by again when meeting up in Mt Eden
K.The heaters outside on a cold raining night were not on until we kept asking, and after that they kept turning them off every so often possibly to save power even tho a lot of people were outside in the cold. Their bad isn’t stocked very well running out of pineapple juice very quickly. Customer service good.
P. B.Pub type atmosphere, bit noisy on the deck as the trains are very close so better inside. Food was very good, had the curry, partner had 2 starters, the polenta and salt and pepper squid, polenta was a little overcooked but the squid was perfect and both came with wonderful sauces. Good service. Recommended
