Reviews of La Fuente Wine & Mezcal Shoppe and Bar
M.
Quite literally the best guacamole I've ever eaten (and I love me some guacamole), and the rest of the menu is also on point. Paired with delicious mezcal & beer. Plus the staff are absolutely lovely.
A.
I love coming to this place. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing and the wine is unparalleled. I recommend it to everyone.
A.
Excellent service and wine knowledge. I can’t remember what food we had but it was really delicious; especially the plate with the wine pictured. I hope this place survives in this dog-eat-dog world!
E.
Just happened on this place by chance and very glad that I did. Nice ambience, passionate owner and great food, along with mezcal and natural wines. Forget tequila, mezcal is where it’s at.

As a Mexican living in Auckland, one must daily struggle witnessing what “Mexican restaurants” sell as Mexican food, making people to think we only eat burritos and nachos (which are not even Mexican), disgraceful...
Fortunately, La Fuente has surged as an awesome option to enjoy traditional Mexican flavors presented in appealing and enjoyable presentations. Not for the big mouthed though. Added to the unique opportunity to try mezcal in New Zealand, it’s a win win situation!
The “torta de cochinita” was my favorite, as well as the “tostaditas de salmón” and the chocolate-mezcal truffles. The house mezcal is refined and delicious, but beware as it is a strong spirit (similar to tequila in strength).
In a nutshell, La Fuente is an amazing place to share some always fun mezcal shots (and wine) and traditional but posh snacks with friends.

I went for lunch. They are friendly and very clean. It's a nice place. My first Mexican food was amazing. I’ll come back again.
Y.
Lovely place to visit for drinks and nibbles. Great range of wines and the guacamole is excellent.
J.
Really wide selection of Mezcal and good bar bites to accompany them.
S.
Edmundo is so knowledgeable and welcoming 100% recc
C.
Amazing vibe, knowledge and passionate owner. Not to mention amazing house plants. Definitely recommend.
T.
Always great service the owner and staff look after you with a lot of love, intimate space, super interesting wines and a great lineup of Ambrosial Mezcal that Edmondo the owner imports - a small menu is mainly mod-Mexican inspired-delicious!!!
Y.
We had a nice Pinot Noir rosé from Central Otago. Guacamole was awesome too.
The guy served us was so nice and gave us travel tips and insight into his favourite places in the north island. Thank you for the pleasant evening:)
C.
This place is fantastic. Very happy to see someone bringing a Mezcal bar to New Zealand.
N.
This is a beautiful little wine bar tucked away. The owner changes the winelist weekly such a great variety
Love it!

I had been told about a mezcal bar in Auckland which quickly piqued my interest. When I finally paid a visit I was immediately enamoured by the place, excellence and engagement at every corner.
Taken by both the selection and Edmundo Farerra's extensive knowledge, I found myself exploring wine, not mezcal. An appropriately opinionated but accessible sommelier, Edmundo shared his stories and his passion and led myself and my date through several of his favourite drops.
Though we did not eat I found the chef to be as equally as passionate about his craft and after a conversation about food he brought us a small taste of his Mezcal & Cacao ice cream to accompany the mezcal we asked Edmundo to choose.
Easily one of the best hospitality experiences I've encountered, and one that I would reccomended without hesitance.
K.
Honestly, the perfect spot to visit for a drink in the city. You can either choose from their huge selection or ask Edmundo for a recommendation (which is always spot on). The perfectly balanced and sized menu is an excellent accompaniment to whatever liquid gold you're drinking.
M.
We had a great evening here, spent a couple of hours enjoying the wines and the host's expert knowledge on wines grown and bottled outside NZ and his understanding of how these wines are different and similar to NZ wines.
S.
I was here with few of my work mates. I must say, they have a good selection of wines! The staff was friendly and had good customer service skills. Cheers
D.
Fantastic as always. Great wine, great food, great Mezcal! And grat people! Ultra recommended
T.
Always a great time going to La Fuente. Edmundo's vast knowledge in Wine and Mezcal is impressive.
M.
Decent beer options. Great wine options. Small menu but very good. Staff top notch.
Be careful of the mezcal.
K.
Beautiful & stylish space with an excellent wine selection and great staff. Haven't tried the food yet but will be back for sure.
A.
Mezcal and wine bar. Snickle Lane has a star and Le Fuente shines bright. Yummy food OMG that's an understatement

Such a MASSIVE range to choose from. The owner was exceptionally helpful in helping us choose what to try and we were not disappointed. Lots of seating available, good atmosphere.

Had the Barrio Bag last night for dinner, our first 'takeaway' meal in lockdown. What a joy! Standing ovation from our household.

(Translated) The place is small but well located, the attention is bilingual, excellent by the way, variety of drinks, highlights the mezcal, superb, enjoy it a lot, but the food, the taste, incredible, is not only similar to the house food, It is really difficult to describe but they improve the taste, the fish taco with fresh, fresh tortilla, they add Granada, a very special flavor.
