I was lucky enough to secure The Birdcage Tavern as the venue for my birthday party on 18 December 2021. I would wholeheartedly recommend booking your function here! The process was made super easy by quick and efficient communication from Phil. The venue has a great feel and vibe to it, it's in a beautiful historic building! The restaurant area is spacious and already had decorations up that worked well with my theme of pink and yellow. It boasts fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for large events! Their staff were super helpful, incredibly friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The food was delicious and received rave reviews from my guests!! The sound system was great and the ability to play my own Spotify playlists meant I could tailor the evening's music exactly how I wanted it to go. Oh, and can highly recommend their cocktails!! If you are thinking about booking this place, do it now so you don't miss out!! 5 Stars!!!

A great local join located in the Victoria Park precinct, next door to the VP Market. Plenty of parking, huge venue with a great menu of food and drinks. Whether you are looking for a local to catch up in, or hire a private venue, this staple is one to have on the list to visit and frequent.

We had an amazing time at the Birdcage Tavern where we held our daughters 21st. Phil was the most attentive host and kept us informed throughout the night regarding the bar tab, food, cake etc. It was so easy for us to organize and on the night the staff were awesome. Highly recommend booking your private functions here. The carpark is also a huge bonus, one you won't find anywhere else in Auckland Central! Great venue for hosting your next event. Phil the manager is very lovely to deal with and super accommodating. They also have a large amount of decorations they set up for you free of charge. Food was delicious and a huge range of drinks to choose from.

Took hubby there for birthday lunch with the family and a couple of dogs.... Also attended a works xmas function there last December. Both times food was very tasty and enjoyable, promptly served by efficient, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Booking process super easy too. Would definitely recommend!

Phil & his team are absolutely amazing - nothing was ever too much, always touching base with me, keeping us informed of what was happening throughout the night. The perfect location for a 21st Birthday Party or any function at that. The location is central, the food is delicious, Phil and his staff (waitresses, security, bartenders) are helpful and accomodating and the layout is spacious with an indoor and outdoor area.

The birdcage is an amazing venue with amazing food, drinks and staff. They are all warm and engage in the vibe of the party. Phil is helpful and such a nice man. I had to reschedule my 21st two years in a row and Phil made it easy to rebook when confronted by lockdown dilemma’s. All my guests mention the food everytime I see them 😂 the communication was flawless as I was lucky enough to celebrate the first weekend out of lockdown, Phil made an event itinerary which helped us know the flow of the night and what to expect. Fantastic Location with great food and drinks. Phil, the manager, has been incredibly helpful with a large booking, extremely fast responses and has gone above and beyond to ensure we were looked after. Our $500 deposit was refunded in full. A wonderful iconic Auckland bar that is a great place to relax with friends and unwind.

Unfortunately due to Covid, they were are unable to host our function. However the service provided by The Birdcage Tavern to secure our reservation was simple and easy with awesome communication throughout. Once we realised we couldn’t hold our event any longer due to COVID the response to refund our deposit was prompt and without issue. Honestly wish we could have continued and wont hesitate to book again in the future.

I am very impressed with the quality of service provided. Phil and the team were very helpful in planning my event. Phil kept me updated throughout, so the anxiety of planning an event was not present at all. Communication is key. That being said, the staff, especially Phil was a pleasure to work with. Booking was a breeze and viewing the venue was easy, straight forward and it had everything we were looking for. Amazing venue with really good staff. We were so well looked after and they catered for a crowd of 100 really well. Phil made sure the even ran smoothly and was very accommodating. The food was really nice and they had a good selection to choose from including some really nice veg options.

Best local pub. It has parking and some of the best food around. Don’t sleep on the chicken salad or the brownie! Quiz night every Tuesday, free event hire, great atmosphere. The staff are like family and it shows. Owner Phil is super down to earth.

In from Ontario, Canada visiting Auckland and stumbled upon this beautiful historic Bar and Grill. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with friendly smiles from all of the staff. Everything our group ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. Portions were generous with lots of food for sharing new tastes...and all very reasonably priced compared to other eateries we had been to. Definitely would highly recommend!

Great venue and friendly staff. Happy Hour selection is very limited to mainly two types of beer and one type of wine. Starters were very tasty with good portions, and the mains were very tasty too, although the portions were smaller than expected for all three of our dishes.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so we sat out side. We had good service, 4 of us. Us girls had gin based cocktails and the lads tried the craft beers. IPA craft beer my hubby enjoyed. I had a yummy crispy pork belly on kumara mash, with a sweet jus and raw finely chopped apple slithers. Followed by creme brulee. Also very tasty. The lads had tasty burgers with fries. Good screens for the sport and a good drinks menu however I ordered a jug of sangria and the man behind the bar huffed and was not happy about making it, then we went to order another drink around 3.30 the bar wash closed and they were shutting up. We thought it was open until 5 on a Sunday and it didn’t say otherwise. We felt like we had to rush our drinks and leave as the bar woman was sat on a stool watching us and turned the screens off which we were watching. We ended up leaving at 3:45 and it was fully closed.

A great historical spot just outside the CBD. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The Birdcage has an awesome outdoor seating area for summer. Great for a summer dinner. The food selection is good and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality. The birdcage also has it's own free carpark which is not common for a city pub. One of my favourite city pubs for Friday night drinks.

Friendly staff, decently-priced drinks, amazing food (the calamari is the best I've ever had!), good music (we used their spotify lists but you can take your own music too), plenty of space inside and out. I have been organizing business functions for many years now and have finally found a venue that makes the whole process seamless....... We recently held our company party at the Birdcage. What a breeze to coordinate, it was initially the great reviews that had got my attention and that's why I booked the Birdcage along with the "free venue hire”. However, they offered so much more, the food was fantastic, the guys loved the mini beef burgers and tempura prawns! Couldn't fault the service and they didn't charge us anything to bring our own DJ in who hooked up to all their equipment. Great sound system and dance floor. Highly recommended to one and all, we will be back!

Amazing experience !! Had my 21st here a week ago and it was incredible. Phil was amazing from the very beginning, making the entire process simple and easy. On the night the team was extremely attentive and it was evident they do functions a lot - everything was on point! Very nice venue and food. Highly recommend The Birdcage Tavern - everything was perfect !!
