Great food, loved the beef tataki and the dumplings comes with sauces that are different to the ones that normally served with gyoza. Big list of Japanese whisky too, so if that's your thing you are in luck!!

Nice Japanese bar to get your drink for the weekend. Really love magyu beef and salmon cube. Price are acceptable. Must try place in Ponsonby

We love this place. It's our favorite place to eat and our go-to for date night. We have been here heaps and never grow tired of it. So glad that we have been able to return after lockdown. Just want to give a shout out to Gyoza bar for always providing great service, delicious food and great vibes. Love this place. Can't wait to come back again soon.

Wonderful place! The Seard Wagyu Beef Salad is so yummy and the Blue Train is great! I really recommend this place!

A great place to try out Japanese whiskey and Sake. Good vibes, and nice place to hangout with friends. I tried their Assorted Tapas and it had a great range of wonderful flavours.

Such a good place, food was delicious, my husband who's not keen on vegetable dishes even said the broccoli & mushroom dish was amazing, that's how good it was. The only negative feedback I have was the guy behind the bar, he didn't have a friendly tone while serving, I think he was just concentrating on doing everything as he was the only waitor there that I could see but just try to sound like you like having your guests there, that would be nice too 😄

Pricing is fair. Staff is friendly and service was impressively fast, so yeah, I'll definitely come back. If you haven't been to Gyoza bar yet, give it a try. It's unpretentious and pretty good, honestly. Loved it!

Delicious food , the karage chicken had way to much tomato sauce which didnt compliment anything at all , the eggplant teriyaki was the best dish we got the sui mai were not great all tasted like a whole bumch of leftover seafood minced together and put in a sui mai wrapper would not get those again at all

This was by far the best Japanese food I’ve had in New Zealand! We stumbled upon this gem and had an early dinner. We had the tofu salad, chicken karaage bites and pork gyoza. Everything was fantastic. Skillfully made and very flavorful. Beautiful presentation (the salad was much prettier, I already took a bite before snapping the pic!) I wish I could cook like this!

Exceptionally friendly staff, beautifully decorated (even the bathroom looks good) and the food is excellent; at least the dumplings are. I tried pan fried, steamed, boiled and even some in a thick soup - all of them were delicious. Bonus: prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks.

A casual Sunday stroll down Ponsonby Rd found us stopping in for a quick bite at the Gyoza Bar. A delightful find, seeing as Gyoza are a personal favourite. We tried the pork ones and the cheese ones. Quite a different experience eating melted cheese in a Gyoza, but enjoyable. And the chicken Katsuya skewers will definitely be ordered again.

Highly recommended. We've been twice with Grabone 5 course menu. Food is always amazing and we never manage to finish it all!

Yummy and really friendly service! Good for a quick late evening snack, the cheese gyoza is most unusual but enjoyable if you are down for something different. Side dishes are over priced but at least they are generous with servings. We sat outside in the sun, but inside looks like good bar vibes too!

Gyoza are always a must here! This time I tried the Osaka ones with pork and prawn ... delicious! Location is nice too, and the atmosphere is very cozy. Really recommended for a night out with friends 😉!

Friendly staff, nice ambience, tasty vegetarian options, beautifully presented. They have good Japanese whisky, plum wine, and for the sober driver, Asahi Zero non-alcoholic beer.

Great place to dine in or chill out with friends or dating night. Lovely place.

Been there a couple of times. Great fried dumplings, veg tempura and chicken dish this time. Discovered Asahi black which I’d definitely have again. Bob Marley reggae music playing. Not especially cheap overall but below average for Ponsonby Road

Came in for dinner on a rainy midweek night, was a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Food arrived quickly and was delicious! The front of house member served us drinks and food with good recommendations. One thing to note was the weird shuffle of music being played, one song was a reggae beat, then traditional Japanese music, and then an American pop song. Not distracting or off putting but a bit odd. Overall though a great experience and will definitely be back!

Such a great venue, every time I visit it seems better and better, as I make my way through the menu its getting harder and harder to decide. Can recommend. And Asahi Black is available! A great brew.

I like the presentation of the gyoza and generally were tasty, I just thought there might be a few more flavors than what there were of the gyoza. Karage chicken was nice also. Quick and friendly service.

Delicious food, sake and service :)

Good restaurant. Food was generally very good (I didn’t like the chicken deep fried but I am no fan of deep fried). The gyoza with beef and the octopus were very tasty. Service is also nice and attentive (we had to wait long but they offered us two drinks). Overall recommended place.

Some dishes were very tasty but a few of them like the angus beef I will not be returning for. Would be nice to see sushi on the menu. Ice water would also be nice. Service was great, did not have to wait long.

Slightly on the expensive side but the food is great. I would advise upon the lotus root chips, spicy pork dumplings and the sake tasting board. All of which are amazing.

Pros: Reasonable price. Nice foods. Cons: too dark (very concerned about health and safety prospect), Not so friendly service. Recommend as discount coupon venue for cheap dine out.

The pork dumplings were delicious and tasted authentic, perfectly crispy on the bottom. We also tried the cheese dumplings which reminded me of pierogies and were also good. There were lots more things on the menu I wanted to try but will need to wait till next time!

Above average food with excellent service but disappointed but the portion size and overall value for money. While the food is overall enjoyable there isn't enough outstanding dishes to credit a revisit. The pork Gyoza is delicious with its lightly crisp outer skin there really isn't much to be said for the other dishes on the menu expect it's ok. If it wasn't priced as high it would have rated a 4 star but the combination of ok food and lack of value sets it back. I do however have to commend the staff who are super friendly and enjoyable to have around. 3/5 Food 4/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 2/5 Value

We did a Six-Course Japanese Dining Experience for Two People with a voucher from GrabOne and had a great time. There was so much food we were very full, Tapas were set and small servings but had great presentation. Mussel pot was a generous serving and were delicious possibly slightly overcooked but did not take away from the taste and flavour. Gyoza we had vegetable and they were great, the dipping sauces were great and very full of flavour. Mains were served on a platter, I thought they may of come with a sharing bowl of rice but they were tasty. Wine was good, we both had red and it was a normal expected serving. We sat inside, host was great, music was fantastic (classic rock and hits) although it was a bit hot from the cooking we still enjoyed ourselves.

Gyoza were super tasty, and there was plenty of options for our group's vegetarians as well as the carnivores. We were there celebrating a birthday and the staff were really helpful and accommodating to our large group. Great value for money also.

The Takoyaki get a solid 10/10 from me. Karaage chicken was also really good. We wouldn’t order the pork pan fried gyoza again. They were the weaker of the dishes we ordered. The Asahi beer topped everything off nicely

Delicious food, awesome service and free sake tasting area makes goyza bar a must go. This restaurant is a great place to go to experience different types of sake which you can't find in many places other than Japan The one point that should be noted is that while the food seems cheap, alcoholic beverages are slightly more pricy than other locations

Great food, super nice staff and tasty decor make this a spot to stop for a quick meal or dinner with friends. It’s got a definite authenticity about it and would not be out of place in the heart of Shinjuku. Highly recommended.

We've been a number of times now and it never disappoints, especially the fried beef and pork gyoza, the cheese gyoza and not to mention the karage chicken. Essentially it's all fantastic. Great service too. Will definitely be back.

Good prices for beer and sake. Very good apps but not too much in the way of dumplings - got the boiled spicy pork dumplings which were coated in a delightful spicy oil.

We had a premium asian buffet from Grabone and were highly impressed! The food came out very quickly, it was absolutely delicious and the staff were friendly. Would definately go back.

Went with friends using a Grabone voucher and we were delighted with the food quality! The food was fresh, the gyozas are delicious and the service was excellent! Can't wait to go back again!

Nice food but a little pricy if you can eat a lot as the portions aren't huge. Seating out the back is very cramped and instead of having a proper stereo they just have a Bluetooth speaker on a window sill directly over the end table. This speaker was wayyy too loud as they try get the music to reach all the way to the tables out the front. Speaker also kept doing that bluetooth out of range clipping noise which was really annoying. They really need to invest in a proper stereo with multiple speakers so they aren't just blasting music from one source... Waitress was very good. If you are booking try to ask for a table closer to the front.

Service is friendly, professional and even remembered us from months ago. Asahi on tap is delicious and the platter food is high quality.

Beautiful food, fair price and great service. When something was taking too long to come out, we got a sashimi plate for free as an apology. We'd gladly come back here.

3.5 stars. The dumplings were average and the other food items on the menu weren't that great. The menu was fairly basic/limited. They didn't have a great choice of alcoholic beverages.

3.5 Good vibes and great service. Presentation of food is good. It lacks in taste/flavour though. We had mixed skewers (tasteless), teriyaki tofu (not great), katsu ckn (this was yummy), boiled spicy gyoza (good), pan fried veg gyoza (average), spicy karage bites (average, their spicy sauce is just alike spicy ketchup. More close to a ketchup), and stir fried broccoli and mushroom (average). Go there for drinks and vibes. I think if you crave yummy Japanese food, St Pierre is the best.
