Lovely pub in the heart of Devonport. Do a delicious steak and guiness pie and nice mussels in garlic and white wine sauce. Good selection of beer and guiness on tap!

Classic corner pub but not on a corner. Absolutely delicious food, cheers to chef & well worth the wait. Sat outside & enjoyed the sunshine & the people watching. I would of given you 5 stars but you really do need to give your toilets a well deserved makeover or at least a good scrub & paint & new toilet brushes & fix the door latches.

Delicious food! Ordered the beef schnitzel and bangers and mash, definitely exceeded expectations!

Nice spot to sit outside and enjoy a cold drink, service was really friendly and efficient. They even packed up one of our orders as we were too full from the earlier food. Well worth a stop for a good feed and a nice drink. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Made a family trip to Davenport for our evening meal with our son and daughter-in-law and 3 children. We had never been before and decided to google recommendations for a “family friendly” restaurant and at the top of the list was The Patriot. From the moment we arrived in the door we were greeted with friendly smiles. The service was smooth and the food was well prepared and tasted great. My seafood chowder was one of the best I have ever eaten and my husband enjoyed his English style steak egg and chips meal with a gravy he raved about on our way home. The children were kept busy with colouring in activities and didn’t manage to finish their meals, but the staff happily provided a takeaway container. All in all it was a good family night out. Highly recommend a short ferry ride from Auckland CBD TO Davenport and a 5 minute walk to The Patriot - old English style pub and food. We even managed to fit in a quick stop off at a rather interesting play ground for the kids to burn off some energy on the way. Thanks Davenport, The Patriot and Fullers Ferry boat service for a pleasant “family friendly” night out. .

Four of us went there for lunch. Can't imagine why there weren't more customers that day. Special deal for a steak and a beer. Great value. Superb steak. Crisp chips. Tasty gravy. Very friendly service. So glad we chose this place over all the others in Devonport.

A pretty good pub. Has upstairs rooms that can cater for private functions as well as a garden bar out the back. The building is a little quirky with odd spaces due to its layout, which isnt a big thing, and it's better than a big barn.

Nice cozy place with delicious food. Staff were super friendly and the food arrived on time. Unfortunately I already lunched so I only had a fried chicken entry and a kids meal for my son. Both were great. Next time in Auckland I'll come back.

Initially I only left a 5 star rating but I decided to do a better review. We found this quaint hotel on a day trip across the harbour from Auckland CBD. I love a well poured Guinness so that was what got me through the door. The interior is a series of rooms it seemed. The bar staff were so friendly and happy to have chat. We decided to stop longer and have lunch..a decision we were pleased with. Quick service, really nicely cooked meals well presented and of course a Guinness or 3 poured by someone who knows how to pour a pint properly. Great experience all round.

Been going to the Patriot for years. Food is good. Certain drinks a little expensive. Like $4.50 for soda water and lime. Defo worth a trip though whilst in Devonport.

From a restaurant standpoint The Patriot has lots going for it. Great exterior facade with classic pub feel on the inside. Nice to have a fireplace to sit by on a cool evening. Nicely done chips and onion rings. The steak pie was a generous in size and filling great. Angus burgers were given the thumbs up from the teenage boys. The lamb and sirloin with the mixed grill was a little tough and could have used a little more seasoning. Really liked the pork and fennel sausage. Must have smoking on the upper floors. We were starting to notice it by the end of the meal.

I had the sirloin steak meal It came with the mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes and sessional vegetables it was so amazing the best steak I ever tasted it just mounted in my mouth it was served hot I asked for it to be medium to we'll done and it was cooked perfectly it was of very high standard and the staff were very friendly I'll be back definitely for another steak you deserve a ten thank you guys for an amazing night your the best

Amazing! Have you ever tried Bangers n Mash? If not, this is a great place to try them. Delicious. I have nothing to compare them to since it was my first ever experience with the dish...so maybe my opinion doesn't matter much. The Steak n Guiness meat pie was also very yummy....so says my wife. There was nothing left on our plates at the end of lunch.

Amazing food and great pub atmosphere with indoor and beer garden options, great to take kids along and prices are very reasonable. A regular place we visit and always enjoy/

Chicken burger - highly rated 9/10!

Great on a blustery Friday afternoon. Visited with a small group including kids. They had a heathy (non fried) kids meal option which was great. The layout of the place is somewhat rambling which means you can find a spot to suit. Staff were generally very good with a couple of standout performers - we were upstairs and they had problem getting drinks sent up even a trip for a glass of tap water was no trouble.

We had a great time with family and friends at The Patriot in Devonport, Auckland for lunch and a couple of drinks. It has just changed ownership and the new owners are doing a great job. There is 5 different areas to drink/eat, we were on the balcony at the back overlooking the courtyard where the live music was playing. Music a was just right, in the background and was easy to catch up with friends and not feel that the music was taking over. The menu was quite large and catered for everyone in our group - I had the Patriot Big Breakfast - Perfect! No pictures sorry. All drinks and meals were well priced.

Pretty keen on this one. Rocked up one eve, first-time in Devonport, after getting off the ferry we needed to slake our thirsts and the pub delivered, locals seem friendly. Returned a few days later for a Speights and a beef schnitty. The pub delivered on all counts once again.

Devonports best local watering hole! Staff and locals are friendly! Good food, I really enjoy their pies! Quiz night on Tuesdays are enjoyable, make sure you come early to get a table!

Our local pub is a cosy spot, perfect for a beer (they have Guinness) and hearty pub meal. Two for one meals on Wednesdays is worth coming down for, but the service is a bit slow, as is the food, so be prepared to park up with a drink or two.

Lovely Sunday roast yummy.

Seafood chowder was good but shrimps tasted too chewy/old. Good selection of English beer. What I liked the most is the Wednesday deal of 2 meals for one price!

Irish bar on the main road into the heart it Devonport. Good range of beers and spirits on offer. The range of food available is decent and caters to most tastes and preference. The pies are substantial and fill the plate! Presentation of the food isn't up to much, but it's an informal place to go have a drink and have a good feed. Outside seating at the front, with a hidden private courtyard at the back, which has ample seating. Worth a visit to after you have trecked up Northhead and taken in the views. I will eat and drink there again and happy to take visitors who come to Auckland.

3pm Saturday just had lunch. The Patriot is a lovely venue with bar and dining. Food was good and tasty. Two young waitresses seriously lacking with hospitality and client skills

A real English 'pub' atmosphere with a welcoming friendly owner who comes from Liverpool. I drank several pints of 'Boddingtons' bitter from the UK and was amazed at how good it was. Plenty of beer and lager choice with a comprehensive food menu. You will not be disappointed with a visit to this pub, one of the most friendly I have ever visited in Auckland.

I like the beer garden out the back. The meals are not cheap however the food is usually good. Be prepared for noise and lots of it inside on the weekend. Best off sitting out the back. Recommend the steak and Guiness pie. I'm lead to believe it is made on premises.

Lovely location in the middle of Devenport, closed the ferry and near the walking path up Mt Victoria. Be aware that the pies are huge. The Guinness steak pie was delicious. Good beer, too. Sit in the back to enjoy the quiet shaded beer garden.

Wife and I came in here for a bite of food and a drink before seeing a movie. Had the lamb salad and the lamb sandwich, both were seriously delicious. It was so nice to have properly-cooked lamb. A great spot in Devonport.

Great location and nice staff but the food really smelled awful for some reason. Also fruit flies were buzzing around us and the table was sticky. I've becoming to The Patriot for years and years - this isn't what I'm used to.

Used to be the local prior to moving away from Devo, before the change of ownership. Some good beer offerings, however mainly Lion taps. Sawmill is offered across the road, opp Baked.

The shop is not only on the first floor, but also on the second floor and in the back, there are terrace seats in the summer.
