B.I randomly found this tavern on google while having a meal and a drink with a few friends in downtown Christchurch, I was looking around for someplace to go sing some karaoke- which is very hard to come by during COVID! My buddies were skeptical, but I decided I was going and that was it, they came along. Within minutes of arriving, we had already decided we were coming to the Black Pearl anytime we went out for drinks during our stay in Christchurch. We were treated like family from the moment we walked into this tavern! Greg, Deb, and Georgie are absolutely amazing and run a great business, if I'm understating it. They're all the best sort of people you could ever hope to be friends with, along with several other patrons, and it's easy to see why. Aside from the fantastic owners/manager, and amazing bar staff- the food here is wonderful too, with fresh and local ingredients. The fish and chips is top notch, best I had in my life actually. To top it all off, the bar manager makes a mean cocktail- she really knows what she's doing. If there's ONE place you go for some drinks, a get together....whatever- while you're in the Christchurch area- GO HERE. Not only will you not regret it, but you'll find me and thank me later, because this place is life changing. If I could give it 10 out of 5 stars, I would.
K.Fantastic bar and restaurant. The food is always amazing but I would definitely recommend getting a steak. Really good value for money and delicious to boot! The bar staff are so friendly and there is live music here all the time.
D.Great Locally owned & Family owned venue set up with Karaoke supported by talented & Sweet lady Guitarist. Highly recommend for bookings, parties & private celebrations. Had their very new Vegetarian Burger 🍔, Delicious Patty with perfect amount of toppings nicely served. Warm atmosphere with always smile service.
b.Great service, tasty food at good prices. Such large portions that 3/5 of us took half our meals home. Highly reccomend eating here.
E.Awesome food and great friendly staff that goes that extra mile excellent sercice highly recommend this bar for an evening meal or a quiet drink.
The bar also has entertainment on a Friday and Saturday nights
l.Had a feed here last week, the chicken burger was really good, all the produce was fresh and the place was warm and inviting,
To be honest even if the food was terrible (it wasn't) i would go back again because the people who own/work here are some of the most friendly and casual people I have met, they made a meal memorable with interesting conversation and just bang up personalities,
