y.Dined here for lunch yesterday on our way back from Akaroa. Unfortunately there was only one poor soul doing everything from front of house, to bar tending/serving/clearing etc, but she did it all with a smile and cheerfulness. The lunchtime menu isn't exactly extensive (about 5-6 options), however, the beer battered fish and chips we had were certainly worth the wait (about 15 minutes). Very fresh and tasty for $20. Got a free drink due to a mix-up which was appreciated. Would definitely return.
L.We dined at the restaurant for a birthday meal as a group of eight (all early - mid 30s). The dining room was spacious and clean and the staff was wonderfully helpful. The food was deeeelicious! We ordered a variety of meals, from the insanely portioned entrees to the generous mains, and everybody loved what they ordered. It was all fresh, clearly prepared onsite and cooked perfectly. We had a lovely night enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and good food. We will definitely be returning soon!

C.Spent 3 nights in a modern, comfy room. It is warm with good facilities. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The meals are good and with big serves will fill the bigger eaters out there.
Our accommodation was on there 2nd floor and there is no elevator, so a few steps to carry bags.

C.A local pub with great food, had the double lamb shanks, cooked perfectly, meat was falling of the bone. My partner had the seafood chowder with fennel. Big size portions, we couldn't finish it all.
Would certainly be back there.
J.Went for dinner having lived in Halswell for nigh on 2 years. And her indoors away I fancied a roast. I was not disappointed and the Sticky Date pudding was to die for. The service was great the food was great and the staff awesome. I'll be going back often
M.We have just left the meal was extremely good. BUT when it came to paying the bill we had to wait 15 minutes for a staff member to serve us. There were at least one group of 8 and another couple waiting for a staff member to assist. At the counter the staff where no were to be seen . One of the kitchen staff even went looking for someone to take our payments anyone
of us could have just left without paying not good at all .When we did get serve i asked the staff member if they were short staffed and she just didn't seem to care
T.Accommodated a large group happily at short notice. We had the little up the steps spot to ourselves and it was lovely to be able to chat together without noise.
Everyone really enjoyed their food and it was reasonably priced.
The customer service was great, attentive and polite.

T.Place was nice and quiet rang in for a booking and upon our arrival we were seated right next to the fire asked the staff to put it on for us which they were happy to do our starter and drinks came out quick but bit of a wait for our main as there was only one chef on that night the food is average I really enjoyed my gin though it was perfect!
R.Lovely staff, great food. We started with a flatbread which was huge and then I had the chicken parmigiana and it was enormous. The only problem was the table wasnt big enough for such enormous servings.

A.Lovely decor, very homely feel to it, and the staff are attentive yet not overly intrusive, with a wonderful menu that is sure to please all. Great selection of drinks from wine through to whisky's which are always a hearty winter warmer. Can't wait to return, simply love this place as my local! Thank you Richard, Gary, Deb and all your staff, keep it up!

C.We went there last week, my second time that I have had lunch there, and it was just as delicious as the first time and that would have been more than 18 mths apart in time. Staff were very obliging I ordered a take away for my supper that night as a treat very tasty as well. Craythornes is very clean and tidy with loads of parking also. I can not tell you what the motels are like as no need to book in. If you go for a meal you will not be sorry, I give it 5 stars

J.Great meal, tastiest venison I've had in a long time. Sticky date pudding was light, fluffy and very tasty. Friendly and helpful staff too. Highly recommended for a meal out.

Meals in the restaurant simply the best. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. All the meals were very nice, good value and just yummy. Try the house loaf and house trifle. Staff were great. Crathorne stay made our visit to Christchurch amazing. We give you 10 out of 10 😊
B.This is a really good pub with great meals that can be had in the public bar + there's a dining area next door. The bar has a tab & there are plenty of screens to keep up with the racing scene, there's also a room with pokies in & the range of beers is excellent. Accommodation is also available in a seperate building + there's heaps of parking. All n' all a very good place to visit.

J.Exactly what we wanted after a huge day. Great food in a modern relaxed environment. The staff were exceptional making a great atmosphere with humour and energy, in the most positive sense. Very impressed.
G.A pleasant cosy place lovely ambience lots of history about the area etc this is the lounge and meal area. The public bar area just like any other drinking area from 70's ... 80's devoid of atmosphere.
N.Food has dropped in quality since the last visit and the menu doesn't seem as high quality. Staff are brilliant though. Food was quite slow to come out, took well over an hour.
