Your Local. I've always loved a good Local. Your other living room, but with a bit more atmosphere and much better service. Busy, chatty, relaxed - everyone in their other living room. Dogs here and there. I've lived in Edinburgh and San Francisco and Auckland and Wellington. I found good Locals in each. Moon is my favourite Local. 5 stars from me.

Great beers wish I had stayed with the beers and not changed to wine. I asked for moon under water pinot noir, I even asked after a taste if it was moon under water and was told yes. Guess what when the bill arrived I was charged for 2 main divide pinot noir obviously I did not get/pay for what I asked for therefore the low score.

Moon Under Water used to be my local pub. Matt (the owner) is one of the nicest and most genuine guys out there, and he bloody knows how to run a pub! Craft beers on more taps than you have fingers, food that is absolutely amazing and a cosy family local pub vibe that I find myself always coming back to... See you next week!

One of the best spots in Christchurch for a craft beer and lunch or dinner. Always a good rotation of different beers and one of the few places in town that let's you take your dog along. Always a favourite.

Great beers on tap and friendly, knowledgeable staff, what more could you want? Cards and board games, you say? Well as luck would have it, Moon Under Water has a plethora of those as well! This is a wonderful wee pub in the charismatic Somerfield neighbourhood and it's a great time whether you're grabbing a spontaneous drink with a friend on a weeknight or you're vibing with live music on a weekend. I'm really tempted to give this place a bad review, entirely because I like being able to go in on a Saturday afternoon and still be able to find a seat. As unpretentious as it's owner, Matt, this pub is pretty much what Orwell was describing in the essay this bar takes its name from: perfect for being able to sit and unwind. For those sad creatures - like me - who are gluten intolerant, never fear, as the excellent staff have you covered: the gin collection is excellent, and only growing with Summer on its way.

Moon under Water always looks busy as I cycle past it frequently. It has some great outdoor tables where you can sit in the sun when there is any. It has craft beers but as we are wine drinkers I cant tell you how good they are. It was a pleasant ambience for an early evening drink with friends.

Went here for a Sunday afternoon beer and the vibes were cheerful with lots of families and groups. There’s a huge board game selection and a great range of beers. Only one gf beer which was tasty, but also a great dry cider on tap. Haven’t tried the food but definitely worth a visit for some relaxed drinks.

Always a great experience whenever we've been here. Their menu is great, they have a wonderful choice of beverages and the servicr is outstanding. Best of all, their prices are very reasonable. I love this place and highly recommend.

Cool little bar with a great vibe, unlike any I've been to before. There were no TVs and it didn't sound like there was any background music either. But there is a big stack of games and an excellent range of beer which encourages people to talk to each other! Novel concept but I think it'll catch on. Only issue I had was the room was quite reverberant which lead to loud volumes and it being difficult to hear conversation.

Nice and cosy place with a very satisfying choice of beers and a yummy mulled wine in winter. The booths are confortable and you can even borrow a game from the bar. Perfect for grabbing a drink with friends. The place might be a little crowded some time though.

I had few delicious beers at resionable price and some food. That day a jam band was also playing some music making the atmosphere great and welcoming.
