Best whiskey bar in town and they somehow have great food, too. Everyone go home so I've got room.

Dropped by "Al-bah" on Christmas Eve as part of cruise ship day stop in Dunedin and had a great pot Dunedin style mussels and the 5 beer tasting tray. Nice atmosphere, good food and beers on tap and the most happening spot on the street!!

Coming from Scotland myself, I was excited to take my German girlfriend here to try some Scottish cuisine. Between us we had the haggis balls, Lorne sausage and bacon roll, and patatas bravas. We enjoyed all 3 dishes however we both agreed that all were very over seasoned.

Would have to say easily the best bar in Dunedin. Great beer, great whiskey, great atmosphere. Go for quality drink and conversation. No dancing etc, can't get much of a meal really (although good snacks) just a good quality pub. Cosy.

Great pub in the middle of town. Quiet, cosy and with a nice/friendly and welcoming atmosphere. They serve Emerson's as well as several rotating beers on draft. Staff are pleasant and crowd is diverse and interesting.

Amazing to have irish trad music on the Tuesday night. We arrived around 8 and left at around 9:30. They only played 2 songs in that time. We would have stayed longer if they played more often. Not a bad band. I'd give them 7/10. Tapas were really nice and a reasonable price. I surprised to see no Guinness or Kilkenny on tap (although realise that it is a scottish bar and not an Irish one). I had a Cassell milk stout which was a bit warm. Weird taste too. Maybe dirty lines? Overall, Alibar has so much potential but not quite hitting the spot for me. Could easily become my regular with a few tweaks.

Terrific pub with excellent real ales. Really nice environment and the bar staff pull a great pint (and even top up the glass after the head has settled). Loads of gin and whisky options too. Definitely one of the top three pubs I’ve visited in NZ.

A pleasant place for a single malt unfortunately my favoured brands were not in stock. The two I did try were weak and lacking in those essential flavours that I so enjoy running over my taste buds. The young man behind the bar had little idea of what he was serving but he was very careful in measuring a nip.

This cool little bar in the centre of Dunedin is fantastic. It has a fine selection of excellent whiskies, plus an array of beer to suit all palates. They offer a tapas menu, which is superb. The homemade hummus and olives with breads were superb, as were the jalapeno bites and patatas bravas. This will be our number one return bar on our next visit to Dunners!

Awesome place to find great beer, they have four hand pours which occasionally change so you know you won't be bored. They have guest taps and a whiskey of the month as well. Good range of tapas style bar food is available (recommend the haggis baws). Has an outdoors smokers area as well.
