We cycled past on 22 July and called in for a coffee. Lovely friendly people running the pub - they took over in early July. We cycled on and came back later for a really nice cooked lunch and some beers. Clean toilets, dog friendly, lovely atmosphere. I wish it was my local. Highly recommended.

Great little pub. Worth stopping for a cleansing ale. Heaps of room and a great beer garden. The chips are damn good too

The new menu is amazing, local produce done right. They run a special roast dinner on a Sunday which is not to be missed, and the regular menu has some GF and DF options. Local beers as well as local coffee, a surprising find in a small country pub. Its right on the Rail Trail, a decent stop for a decent feed with good, genuine service.

We parked out campervan here overnight in the beautiful surrounds of the Hotel. Absolutely fab place to stop off! Loads of ducks, chooks and a very friendly doggo, Tess! Had a great yarn with Derek (proprietor) over a bevvie in the bar, and played a game of darts. Derek knows ALL THE THINGS about wine, so he's an excellent source of knowledge and great wines. It's right next to the Central Otago Rail Trail so a great place to stop off. Thanks for the lovely hospitality, guys!!

One of the best country pubs we've been to in a very long time, largely thanks to the fantastic publican! Country hospitality at its best. Great food & the man knows how to pour a good drink. Lauder is a fantastic spot whether on the rail trail, staying for a wedding or a few days. Great accommodation, good people who all help to make your stay as comfy as possible, and fantastic hospitality. Can recommend the meals at the pub, really delicious pub food. A huge thanks to Nobby the publican, who made our stay in the area one to remember!

One of the best pub steaks ever. The publican is a true local promotes the local produce including the wines, beers and foods. If you're after the genuine experience with some friendly NZ service, you must stop here. If yore a wine lover, and want some local wine advice, plenty of it flows freely as.

February 2015. We were on the Otago Rail Trail and spent the night here. We had a great time with Vicki and Knobby. They made me a special vegetarian meal with no fuss that was large and delicious.The beer and wine were excellent. The locals (who departed quite early), were an entertaining bunch with a good sense of humour. Our rooms were comfortable and clean, as were the bathroom facilities. Breakfast the next morning was thoroughly enjoyable with Knobby being an entertaining host again. Then into his van to travel on a "private" tour upto St Bathans, courtesy of Knobby. This was well worth doing as he explained the history of the district and took us to meet some of the locals. (Beware of the hug - I won't spoil your fun). This took a couple of hours, so after much hilarity with Knobby, for an experience we would otherwise have missed out on, we jumped on the bikes and set off. The Lauder Hotel - don't miss it!

Quaint historical inn run by a lovely couple that are serious enthusiasts of Central Otago. The bar features a great selection of extremely local beer, wine, and spirits.
