D.100 year old Port workers tavern. Not so popular now days, I have memories of punters pouring out onto the street in the late 1980s. The food is really good value for money English-style pub food and the decor and sevice is warm and personable. If I was a Pom visiting Dunedin this is a little slice of home. Still a great place to down a pint and have a yarn with the locals.
Y.Good place to take a dinner or get a glass of something. They have a good choice of food and drinks! Area is clean around. Additionally you can get a wife in case needed.
P.Extremely pleasant bar with excellent choices of beer, whiskey and other drinks. The bar person was exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome. Highly recommended.
B.We had a delicious meal here and would definitely return. Try the bitterballen. You get 4 quite filling balls. We ordered both the beef one and the vege one but only 2 balls of each and a risotto to share. They have organic wine also.
M.A gem of a place. Cozy pub with a friendly vibe. Delicious food making great use of local and seasonal ingredients. Impressive range of craft beer on tap and a fridge full of rare and interesting NZ beers. If you like wild-fermented beers from breweries like Cell Division or Craftwork, this is one of the few places you'll find them.
Definitely worth a trip out from Dunedin.

J.Relaxing atmosphere, very European. The hosts offer a great selection of beers on tap, wine and top shelf. The food is devine because it is fresh topped with quality. It is well priced but check this out online as I don't mind paying a bit more for quality food. Ample street parking. Child friendly with games and books available.

R.Been here many many times. The quality of the chips has increased recently however the serving size is very small compared to other shops. The staff are friendly and I would recommend this take away shop.
V.I wish I could give Portsider more than 5 stars. In the last couple of decades, while travelling - mostly for work - all over the world, I've eaten in a lot of restaurants. Consequently, I will definitely chose to eat at home if I can possibly do so, because I know I can make more flavoursome and nutritious food than most restaurant chefs. Unless... I am able to eat at Portsider. This is one of only two restaurants in the world where the food is better than I can make for myself. Furthermore, the place is comfy and cosy, the locals are friendly and fun, and furthermore, the beer selection is top notch! If you are fortunate enough to need to eat out in Port Chalmers, you would be an idiot not to go here.
C.The atmosphere, the consistency of the often varied menu of utterly delicious food, the always changing and ever amazing selection of craft beer from all over the world. If you've travelled through Port Chalmers without stopping in here you've missed one of life's truly rare opportunities!
P.Food is excellent. If you haven't had bitteballen before you are in for a treat. Plus their craft beer selection is second to none for the Dunedin area.
T.Pip and Hannes are lovely, the food is really good and the selection of craft beers, wines and whiskey is worth the visit alone. But it's the atmosphere that I really like. A local in the proper sense of the word. No screens of endless sport, no pokies just familiar faces, warmth and goodness.
