A.Classic ol Pub, like going back in time. Met a very knowledgeable ol local. The 1 beer we had was so nice & cold & gr8 service! Went to the sports bar side..not the public. Maybe check it out next time :)
R.Only used the restaurant section, so this review is based on that side of the experience.
The restaurant was quiet, possibly because of both the current covid climate, and the time we were there which was around 5:30 Saturday.
The menu while not listing posh sounding items was made up of good solid 'pub' food. I had the fish of the day, which was a large Hoki lightly battered fillet with fries.. it was very nicely done. My wife had a chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce which was also a good sized portion. All the food tasted very freshly made.
Will come again.
S.This is a quitecential kiwi pub and food. The food is great and the only drawback slow on delivery. When you are traveling and want a quick break not the best. Next time I will tell them we are on a mission. Great value for $.
N.I had the best time at this homely, friendly, old style pub and hotel. The staff were super accomodating and just lovely. Everyone who works there are incredibly friendly. I stayed for two nights with the goal of seeing wild bats which reside in Talbot Forest just on the hill. Right away, Denise jumped onto the internet and asked the locals to find advice on where to search for the pekapeka. Trish was just an amazing host, frequently checking in on me and cracking me up. The beer is cheap, the food is great - oh, did I mention they have free pool!? Unheard of in this day and age right? I loved the charm of this place made warm by the exceptional staff. I can't wait to visit again - hopefully the bats will be as accomodating next time as well!

Very clean and comfortable basic room with all that was needed including electric blanket..tv.. towel..comfortable bed ..Good shared kitchen with all the makings for tea and coffee..Very clean roomy shared bathrooms .. Fantastic shower..

K.We just had a lovely meal and dessert. Good value and they were able to accommodate a selection of dietary requirements from gluten free to vegetarian.
N.The staff helped us out and found rooms for the 4 of us on a rainy night. Rooms and facilities are really basic but nice to my standards, clean bed, coffee packs, fridge, shampoo and clean towels. Free parking that weekend on the street. What else could a budget traveller want for 30$ a night!

J.I love this place for a meal. Menu has shrunk slightly since I was last here and was looking forward to a chicken schnitzel but this wasnt obviously on the menu. However I did find out after I was paying that it was available as a bar snack. I had garlic prawns for starters on a salad - delicious. Plenty of prawns. However when I was presented with the prawns I was advised my main and garlic bread was ready as well - so a bit of miscommunication on the night. But this certainly didnt detract from the great food. Service was very friendly. I had the roast tonight which was pork and came with crackling and gravy. Very filling. I had no room for sweets. The garlic bread was like mini loaves - which at first I thought it wasnt garlic bread - however you break it open and the garlic butter just oozes out everywhere. This is a go to every time I visit Geraldine. Never been disappointed. Great service. Parking plentiful. Clean and tidy inside. Can cater for big groups as well.
J.Reasonable food in the resteraunt part of the hotel. We had a variety of dishes from fish to steak. It was very loud and busy which made conversation a little restrained and sitting by the door was very cols.

S.Hard to locate the entrance, room seemed too small for the hundred dollars a night they charge but it otherwise did the job. They need better record keeping as staff did not know we had payed online and asked for room payment upon arrival, they needed to go ask someone else before letting us go to our room.

The restaurant downstairs is open until 9 but you want to have your last orders placed by 8:30. The schnitzel was the best thing I ate I NZ.
They also have a small Casino and a pool area..

E.(Translated) Medium, welcome and nice people but the kitchen for the backpakers not well equipped no forks for example. The parking is not really a car park is an access court at the rear of the building, as well as saying that your car will sleep on the road if the yard is full !!

Moyen, l'acceuil et les gens sympa mais la cuisine pour les backpakers pas bien équipé pas de fourchettes par exemple. Le parking n'est pas vraiment un parking c'est une cour d'accès à l'arrière du batiment, autant dire que votre voiture dormira sur la route si la cour est pleine!!
