D.5 stars on principle. I've never been there, but someone important said it was their first choice. The news implies the owners a good sorts. So, I wish the owners the very best for their hard work and determination. More importantly, the owners took the moral high ground. Good job guys, I wish your staff the very best too.

M.I could give 10 stars to Bushmere Arms if I could. The last time I went to BA was in 2002 and left the place just as impressed as I did in Dec, 2017. You know when the managers of a restaurant have made an effort for their guests. The gardens surrounding the restaurant are a joy to walk in. Roses, lilies, fruit bearing trees, fountains, arched hedges, sculptures - it is really like the Garden of Eden. Food is delectable. It is awarded for beef and lamb but as a vegetarian, I was not let down whatsoever. Mushroom ravioli came in parcels wrapped like candies. Tomatoes were so sweet, they actually tasted like candies. Carrot and ginger soup - I could have had vats of it and never be satisfied. Then came lemon surprise - the most sublime creation that ended the dinner in the most memorable way. I had to choose between at least 6 other puddings and I can assure you my other guests' tummies too were humming in perfect harmony. The only downside is the wait but it is EVERY bit worth it. There are very few restaurants where the Chef has been around long and the management takes pride in making the place as beautiful. It is absolutely the most exquisite restaurant I have ever been to.
M.A local suggested we visit the Bushmere Arms and I am so grateful she did! We had the most scrumptious lunch in the most magnificent setting. It’s a nice change of pace - we enjoyed walking the grounds and admiring the expansive gardens. We loved the food and local wine. Would definitely go back as I can imagine at night it is magical.
J.Always a lovely meal lovely gardens to walk around just need to be patient on waiting for meal. Staff are always pleasant and helpful Robin does all the meals himself hense the wait but this gives lots of time to catch up with family and friends Lovely home grown vegetables.
C.This is a great venue, it should not be bullied by potential customers just because of their popularity. There are many business people who understand your situation and will continue to support you. What happen to honest unbiased opinions? This establishment should continue with their good service and great food.
D.My brother had his Wedding at your venue. We were very impressed as were all of the guests many of which were from many different parts of the world. Wow, what an outstanding venue, an absolute jewel in the Hawkes Bay. Great staff, great food and great service. A very memorable occasion for all of the above reasons.
L.Haven't been here, but am countering the 1 star reviews people are unfairly leaving because of the commercial differences reported in the media between the PM and the vendor. It's not fair to 1 star rate when you haven't actually been there. If you look at the reviews prior to 16th Oct this venue has rated highly for its location, facilities and food. Lets not try and take out a business owner who has clearly worked hard and offered a great experience for most of their customers.

M.We have wonderful memories of our son’s wedding at Bushmere Arms a few years ago. The gardens made a picturesque setting, and the tables in the reception room were beautifully set out. We particularly remember the very good meal that was served, and afterwards we wrote to thank the manager as we had been so impressed. If we lived in Gisborne we would have returned.
T.Owner is very kind and willing to stand his ground. Currently stuck in Auckland for who knows how long but will definitely be returning once we are allowed to leave.
M.The Bushmere Arms is an outstanding wedding venue and restaurant. We were so pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in Gisborne for our New Zealand family and guests from all over the world to join us at this prestigious location. Robin was amazing, his food was second to none! Most sourced from his own gardens (which are lovely to walk through) or from the surrounding Gisborne region. Robin even went out of his way to source Ouzo at the bar for the Greeks. The gardens are beautiful, the building has a warm wooden warmth and historical character. We loved our wedding day at Bushmere Arms in 2012 and have been back twice since with kids for dinner as it is such a lovely and memorable place where the food is amazing. Thank you Robin for your ongoing hospitality!
A.Regular customer here and can’t rate the Bushmere Arms highly enough. This place is amazing, the food is great, the atmosphere is great, the hospitality is on point and the hotel and grounds are quite simply the most beautiful in Gisborne. Sad see the low-lives giving this place 1 star reviews based on their own political naivety. Keep it up, we will be back soon

B.Only been to Gisborne once. It was amazing place, I loved the beach, ate at a fantastic pizza restaurant. Unfortunately missed the Bushmere Arms, but they are first on the list when I go back. You are an inspiration to the country, dissembling and manipulation should never be tolerated.

D.Popped in a little while ago, and loved it. Apparently it's also a really classy place to get married - and why wouldn't you with such surroundings ? You'd really need to be "locked up" if you chose not to go ahead with a booking if you were lucky enough to secure a date.
L.Five stars for support against an undemocratic PM who has let power go to her head. Who BYOs food to a wedding venue and assumes they can commandeer their kitchen? Do you take your Burger King to the pub for a few beers and ask the kitchen to reheat it? Take them to court for the $5K and I bet you'll be overwhelmed with offers of free legal representation. Sounds like your venue is magnificent - will make sure I visit.

C.Same as Leena; haven't been there but to counter the unfair 1-star ratings by people who are using/abusing this rating system to 'punish' this venue on the basis of a media story, rather than having actually been there. Please don't turn the very helpful Google rating system into a vehicle for hate and spite like Facebook is. I'm sure the PM would be saddened and disappointed to learn people are doing this to a local business who, ultimately, is entitled to run their business as they see fit, and just trying to survive.
R.I have not dined here but I am disgusted at what this narcissist PM did and that of her maniacal disciples putting on one star reviews to try and wreck a legitimate business in difficult times mismanaged by that same PM
S.Cosy atmosphere, delicious lamb shanks and the best sticky date pud ever!! A great spot for an intimate dinner for 2 or a group of friends. Grab a drink from the bar first and park up by the fire. Always hard to get a booking here as its so popular.
M.I have not dined here, but i suspect neither have most of the one star reviews in the last 24 hours. The pm is a big girl and you do not need to ruin the reputation of a good business on her behalf. Grow up and get a life 1star losers. She will not thank you for "defending" her.

From the road it is a place I would drive straight past. Once you pull into the car park however it starts to come to life.
There a dinning room and bar are beautifully preserved and maintained.
As you make your way further into the building it leads to a generous grand hall, with stunning views out into the garden.
The exceptional Garden is the feature, everything is proportionate and there is a symmetrical beauty to the way the garden has been tended too, dotted with random pieces of pleasure.
