R. F.Dined at the restaurant for the second time this week and both times the service has been exceptional. Such lovely waitresses and always available when you need them. The food was pretty good as far as good pub food goes. Quite tasty but the gurnard was a bit overcooked. Had the ribs the other night and they were very good. Overall a very good option for dining in Greymouth.

When we arrived everyone was already eating so I thought sweet, we shouldn't have any issues with prompt service. I didn't think it was over busy and having worked hospo myself I get the hustle but General waitstaff etiquette not observed, small things that matter, Like a water at the table upon being seated and a smile or at least not a frown or scowl.
Plates being cleared promptly or when asking customers if they want a dessert menu and offering to top up drinks at the same time is common place. Should have had to Ask for it to happen.
Things like not dumping the food and storm off frowning and speaking clearly, not murmuring off the specials so fast we couldn't hear. I guess waiting 50 minutes for food didn't help. I bit my tounge and tried to be patient.
But Like the comment below there is a difference between overworked/understaff and outright bloody rude it was not friendly, I felt like I was bothering staff by trying to wave someone down for a bloody bottle of water and ended up ordering at the bar as did another table.
This was the most unfriendly and uncomfortable dinner I have had in a very long time and when other tables are murmining the same thing I know it's not just me.
Spent 250.00!
When settling the bill, no eye contact or positive communication waitress sat the receipt on the bar and walking off before we had a chance to confirm that the bill was in order we expected a little more positive interaction.
If your having a crap day don't make your customers uncomfortable - you both made the end of our day pretty crap.

V. M.Went here for dinner on Saturday early evening. They have a seperate gluten friendly menu which was perfect for my daughter. Waitress was friendly and very efficient. Loved our meals the warm chicken salad was delicious! Would recommend to others.
C. W.Nice, clean, spacious restaurant, the meals were fabulous, full of flavour and great value. The staff were attentive, more training and experience in hospo will create a better dining experience.
Would recommend and will definitely come back.

S. C.Steak is very delicious, we ordered ribeye steak with medium rare, they make it at perfect level, the inner is juicy and tasty. The staff is so friendly, we saw it got kids under 10 yo can have kids meal free outside of the restaurant . Even though we cannot find the promotion online, the staff still offer the promotion for us. And the kids meal very nice too, my daughter likes the pasta very much, the pasta sauce is creamy and rich. Dipping with fries and vegetables all very delicious.

J. E.Amazing food. I had a steak here and it was delicious with some beautifully done croquettes and veggies. They offer soft drinks in pints which I found amazing! The waitresses were lovely and we felt welcome. Highly recommend for anyone going through Greymouth.

TLDR version - excellent service, excellent food 5 Stars :)
Long version - The restaurant was quiet but it was due to the time we arrived.
Food was nothing short but awesome. We ordered, hamburgers, fish burgers, steak and pork bbq ribs and fish and chips.
The food came out hot (could not hold the ribs with my fingers) and the chips were fresh from the kitchen and hot.
They have a celiac menu too and the kids had ice cream and drinks as part of their meals. I would rate these guys for their food service and environment.
If we ever come back to greymouth, we will eat here again. The food does the previous good reviews justice. Thanks guys for the feed. :)

W. W.Good prices on the drinks, although I believe my partner got charged $18 for a jug that cost me $10 30min before. Most staff were friendly, one lady seemed moody. Needed some music by the pool table. The jukebox in the darts room was pretty cool. Will be back next time we're through I'm sure.

E.A great place to have a meal after a long day in the car. Clean, tidy pub with a big dining room. My dish had an assortment of seafood, creamy but not overpowering. Parking on street is easiest.

J. B.The meal was nice. I do have one wee point to make though. I had a "blue steak". Thìs steak was placed in a cold plate and then brought to the table. By the time I got it the steak was cold. I did eat it all but it would have been so much nicer if the meal had been placed on a "hot" plate and then bought to the table.
V.Walked in without a reservation and staff were very friendly and found us a table, we ordered the Sunday Special... Rump Steak with Salad, Chips, Mushroom sauce and was very pleasantly surprised, our steaks were perfectly cooked and a good size. Best meal we’ve had for a long time and at ONLY $15 per meal it’s AMAZING value too, thanks.
