we stayed in the accomadation which was comfortable and the shower had great pressure.
A really nice place to pass some time. There is a huge fish pond in the garden deck outside.

This place is the accommodation equivilant of a classic kiwi batch! Simple yet incredible.
The host is amazing, so friendly and hospitable! He went above and beyond what I expected. The great shower and comfy beds are just what you need at the end of the day! I absolutely loved my stay here. The 15min drive out of Hokitika is well worth it! A great hub for all West Coast activities. The best feature is the very friendly in house doggo! This place overflows with kiwi culture, from the hosts to the decor to the awesome views and country air! Love it!

Great place to stay! Great location, close to Hokitika gorge and other natural attractions and also Hokitika town. Hosts were lovely and made us feel at home. Rooms were great, we stayed for 2 nights whilst travelling down the south coast, showers and toilets are separate, they are kept very clean and with complimentary toiletries and hairdryer. Help yourself to breakfast in the cute breakfast/TV room and good pub grub in the evenings! brilliant value for money. Will definitely stay again!

Yvonne and Grenvill are awesome! Small little place just outside of Hokitika, affordable and friendly. Quite place, not to many other guest. Accommodation is nothing fancy but it is perfect. Pet friendly with some chill Alpacas, horses and a fat ole pig nearby. Bring your own food and drinks, Pub/Cafe is only open Fri/Sun but I'm sure Grenvill will serve you some beer or wine to drink in the evenings. Highly recommend this spot, I know I'll be back! Really makes you feel at home.

Very beautifully weather sculpted large limestone rocks essily accessible from the parking area. A wonderful place to stop and wander for an hour or two.

The true gems of the West Coast is not the dramatic scenery, it is the wonderful and interesting people - Kokatahi Hotel is an ideal place to meet some local characters. This pub/hotel/cafe is an central part of the small community and many locals treat it like an extension of their homes. When the proprietor needs to leave the room one of the locals will step behind the bar, help themselves to a beer, put some cash in the till for it and then serve anyone else who needs a drink. There is even Pinta 'a bar' cat who wonders around. The locals are quick to start conversations with tourists, and are happy to tell you about the area, what they love about it and what you should do when you are there.
This is budget accommodation, so don't expect concierge service, in fact people here are unlikely to know what a concierge is, but the locals are more than helpful.
The green thumbed Mistress of Kokatahi Hotel has created an eclectic garden, packed with plants and odd stuff - it seems that if something breaks it ends up in the garden as a feature. So go on book yourself in and have a pleasant - if slightly odd - stay.
