G.What a fantastic little pub just across the road from a brilliant little camp site. The welcome from the Land Lord and locals alike was the epitome of South Island hospitality - warm, friendly and unassuming. If you want a break from the world and just want quality time with the family this is the perfect place.
A.Awesome wee hidden spot with a campground opposite. Neville and Jackie are amazing an welcoming. Very laid back and guaranteed a laugh with the locals. Been coming here every year since I was 8 months old. (I'm 24 now) and this place never disappoints. Heaps of walking tracks to explore and caves to amaze. Finish off the summer day with a dip in the river or jump of the cliff if your keen before heading over to the pub for a pint and an icecream.
H.My husband just got home from staying here for the last week while on the coast for work and he couldn’t rate these publicans high enough, meals and lunches were lovely, the boys worked late so they stayed up and cooked their meals for them when they got in and even went as far as hanging their wet weather gear up in front of the fire for them and put paper in their wet work boots. Husband has travelled a fair bit for work over the years but the Nelson Creek Hotel went above and beyond.
S.Did not stay at the motel, which was closed, so couldn't even visit for a beer from across the road from our camp ground, which was a shame. Camping here is very good with provision of clean toilets, a covered area with sinks where you can prepare food, and lots of dining seating outside. Price of camping was typical of DOC prices, and very reasonable. The grounds contain a playground for kids, and there are some nice shirt walks to do, highlighting some of the mining history of the area. Sandfly repellent is advised.

C.Cosy, friendly. Country pub. Good variety of bar meals. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for the driver. Outdoor seating and a small shop. Lovely camping and picnic grounds over the road down by the river. Pleasant walks too. Nelson Creek is an ideal summer holiday spot.

H.Spent weekend at Nelson Creek Hotel with the Widows Sons. The weather was stormy, but the welcome from Jackie & Neville was exceptional.... Their Hotel is warm & cozy, the food was plentiful & our bikes were stored dry & secure...What more could you want? Yes, Jackie & Neville we will be back....😍🥂

Received help from new owners instantly, offerd us breakfast, new cooling box etc for free. Very lovely and heartwarming experience.
